Ivy
Ivy’s alarm went off with vengeance, Ivy groaned reaching for it. She did not sleep very well. Her thoughts were all over the place. Ivy was the daughter of the Moon Goddess. She had so many questions and she wasn’t sure she was prepared for the answers, if there were any. Ivy spent quite a few hours going through some of the books her mom and Eddie gave her. Ivy sat up looking around her room. It was the same as it always had been so it must be her that was feeling different. A cool breeze entered her room, and she felt it across her face, feeling almost heavy and lingering. Ivy looked at the windows in her room and all of them were shut. Odd, Ivy thought. A tingle went through Ivy, from head to toe, and she shivered. Just as quick as it came, the tingle went away. Ivy closed her eyes and let her mind relax and clear. Scents filled Ivy’s nose from her mom making breakfast downstairs, hints of cucumber lotion and the hint of aftershave. Ivy opened her eyes, and her room seemed brighter. Everything Ivy looked at seemed to be clearer and more definitive, it was like everything was sharper.
Ivy moved off her bed to stand and she lost her balance, falling back onto the bed. Ivy blew a breath out, blowing her hair out of her face. “Hmmmpph.” Ivy pushed herself back up to stand and felt heavier, almost stronger. Ivy looked in the mirror and saw herself staring back at her. Ivy roamed her eyes from the top of her head to her toes. Her hair looked fuller and shinier, there were more definitions in her arms and legs as if she was going to the gym every day, her violet eyes seemed to have a sparkle in them, and her lips looked plumper. Ivy’s eyes continued to roam over her body. Everything seemed to have filled out and made her look like she was glowing. Ivy smiled. She did not know what was happening, but she couldn’t say she didn’t mind it. Ivy quickly got dressed and sat at her vanity. As Ivy brushed her hair, she noticed the way her hair seemed to shimmer and bounce.
Ivy made her way down to the kitchen and greeted her parents. Her dad smiled and took a sip from his coffee cup then looked up from the newspaper he was reading. He let out a gasp. Mary sprung around from the stove and looked at her daughter. Ivy had a vibrant purple glow about her. Everything about Ivy’s physical appearance was more defined and exquisite. “Ivy.” Mary let out her name like a whisper. Ivy’s face turned from smiling to a frown.
“Is there something wrong mom?” Ivy asked while walking to the cupboard to get a coffee cup.
“No darling, you are beautiful.” Jim chimed in.
“Yes, you are honey. It is just that you have a very bright aura this morning.” Mary explained. “It caught me off guard.”
Ivy kissed her mother’s cheek, poured some coffee, and made her way to kiss her dad’s cheek.
“I woke up and feel just, more.” Ivy sat down on one of the stools. “It’s hard for me to explain. I feel like I can see clearer than ever, my hearing is almost impeccable, and dad that was just the right amount of after shave.” Ivy giggled.
Jim looked at Ivy, shaking his head. “I didn’t put after shave on today.” Jim looked at Mary with concern in his eyes.
Mary closed her eyes and inhaled. She couldn’t smell anything. She started whispering then stopped. A wind rushed through the house and back into the kitchen.
“Jim, call Alpha Declan of the Full Moon pack and tell him we request his assistance immediately.” Jim reached and grabbed his phone. Mary closed her eyes again and started whispering again. Ivy’s phone started ringing.
“Hello?”
“We are on our way, what is going on?” It was Mara.
Ivy was confused. “What? How did you know something is going on? I don’t even know what is going on. Dad is calling someone, mom is whispering some weird language and you’re on your way over. I’m lost.”
Mara let out a sigh on the other end of the phone. “Ok so I felt you in distress, mom got a telepathic message from your mom and so we are on our way over and I just wanted to call to make sure you’re ok.”
Ivy smiled. “I think I’m good. I will see you in a minute.” Ivy hung up the phone and looked at her parents. Her father was talking to someone on the phone, and he looked concerned. Finally, he hung up and Mary had turned back to take the food off the stove.
“So, anyone want to tell me what is going on?” Both Mary and Jim looked at each other.
“Uh uh. I know that trick now. No mind linking. What is going on?”
Mary let out a small chuckle. “I see you’ve been studying.”
“Don’t try to change the subject mom.”
Mary walked over to Ivy and grabbed both her hands. “Hunny, your father doesn’t wear after shave. The fact that you smelled it in the house means someone was here. Your sense of smell was extremely sensitive when you were younger before we started blocking your powers, so we stopped wearing scents that would make you sick. I called for Eddie and Mara while having your father call for the werewolf Alpha of the town pack. He will be able to pick up any scent that was here within the last 24-48 hours. I’m not sure how it works.”
