Alastair
He paced back and forth in his bedroom. He could not get the image of the girl out of his head. Her eyes were so purple. Her hair was golden like the sun and her lips were so moist and plump. He just could not think of anything else but her eyes. The way his heart was pounding out of his chest just by looking at her. He felt the tug the moment she came near him. He chuckled thinking about the other day when he felt something similar to this. He was running on the outside parameter when he caught a scent and felt the heat in his chest. He had to know where it was coming from but before he could get too close, Alpha called him back to the pack house with an assignment. Today though, his Alpha told him and three of his buddies to check out the local high school for any suspicious activity. He did not expect to find her. There had been rumors spreading through the lands about a powerful source nearby that may be a threat to the pack and since Alastair was in line to become the next Alpha, he was taking more responsibility throughout the pack. Alastair heard the door downstairs close. Dad was home. Alastair headed down to the living room to report.
“I don’t care if it takes all damn day. I want that report on my desk by the time I walk in there in the morning.” Declan shut his phone and tossed it on the couch.
“Long day, dad?” Al asked his father, walking into the room. Declan turned around and smiled at his son and took a minute to look at him. “Yeah, you could say that. How was the search today?” Declan asked as he grabbed a glass from the trolley against the living room wall. He poured himself a small glass of bourbon and turned back towards his son and leaned against the trolley.
Alastair went into full alert. “Sir, there was not much to report from the school grounds. We circled the entire perimeter and inside the school grounds. I did not sense a threatening power source. However...” Al trailed off and looked out the big bay window overlooking the pond in their back yard. Declan sipped and waited. It wasn’t like Al to not give a full report. Declan smiled.
“However?” Declan asked.
Al cleared his throat. “However, there was a little scene at the school when we entered. We were immediately surrounded by students as a “welcoming committee” and there was a girl. When we locked eyes, I felt this tug in my chest, and it got warm.” Al subconsciously started rubbing his chest. Declan raised an eyebrow. This was new. “I’m not sure what happened but when she was pulled away, I could still feel the tug, but it felt like I was missing a piece of me. Al looked at his father. Declan moved over to the couch and sat. He patted the cushion next to him. Al came and sat next to his father.
“Ok, first, were there any supers that should not be there?” Declan asked.
“Not that I could sense.”
“Ok. Now, I am going to tell you a small tale and maybe you will begin to understand what is going on.” Declan paused and took another sip of his bourbon. He inhaled a sharp breath as the bourbon hit the back of his throat. “Long ago, the world was a beautiful place full of every kind of supernatural you could think of. We maintained peace and order throughout the lands. There were Gods and Goddesses walking among us. The most beautiful of all was the Moon Goddess. She was full of light and love. She wanted to continue peace for eternity. The Moon Goddess is special. She holds the power to create. She created the wolves and the witches. On one fateful night, a vampire named Bane turned dark. No one knows what happened to him to make him turn but he was pure evil. He attacked a village of werewolves and fairies. Many died. When the Moon Goddess arrived after the bloodbath, she cried for days. The lands started flooding. It felt as though all the hope and love, all the safety our people felt, was just gone. The Dark Prince came to the village. He saw many who were afraid, many who were angry and lashing out. The Dark Prince could not believe what he was witnessing. All their hard work was gone, and he wasn’t sure if their people would ever recover from this. The Dark Prince could not believe that one of his own was capable of this. He went to the edge of the forest where the lake met land. He saw the Moon Goddess sitting on a rock, crying, in the path of light from the moon. He picked up the Moon Goddess and brought her home to the realm where all the Gods and Goddess chose to be. From that day forward, each of the Gods and Goddesses, the magical beings whom created each species oversaw their own species and we all began to hide away from each other in fear of being attacked. There were many rumors throughout the years of a prophecy that will unite all species back together. I first heard of the prophecy from your grandmother when I was just a pup. I have hoped my whole life that one day, we would all be reunited again.” Alastair listened intently.
“What does that have to do with the girl I met today?” Al asked confused.
“When there was peace among the lands, the Moon Goddess bestowed us a wonderful gift. As wolves mate for life, the Moon Goddess gave us the ability to feel whenever we meet our true mates. There are times when a wolf never meets their true mate and for them, they will take a Chosen Mate. When a wolf meets their True Mate, there will be signs or feelings that are so uncontrollable and it hits you like a brick.” Declan smiled at the last bit as he remembered meeting his Luna.
Alastair looked at his father. “Does that mean I met my mate?” Declan chuckled. “It seems so, son. Congratulations.” Declan laughed at Alastair’s look. Alastair’s mind started to race. I must go back to that school. I must find out who she is.
“We will talk more in the morning. There are some things that we will need to do. First will be to find your mate. You are stronger when you have your mate by your side.” Declan explained. He could hear music in the kitchen. “Speaking of being stronger with mates, I believe mine is home. Let’s go clean up and help her with dinner.” Declan smiled.
Alastair smiled and absently nodded his head and followed his dad into the kitchen. “My darling queen.” Declan declared as he walked over to Ida, sliding his arm around her waist, putting a kiss on her cheek.” Ida smiled and leaned into her mate. “My Alpha.” She said with a smile. “Hey mom.” Al said sitting on a chair at the island in the middle of the kitchen.
Ida turned away from the stove and looked at her son. “Alastair. You look worse for wear, my charming boy.” Ida continued to look at her son, she always knew when something was wrong just by looking at him. Ida smiled encouraging him to let her know what was going on inside his head. Al started to fidget with his pack ring.
“I am not sure completely. I want to do some more research and check things out before I want you to make a big deal about all of it, ok Mom?” Ida’s expression slipped for just a moment. She turned around and shut off the burner and took the pan off the heat to sit for a few moments while she collected herself. “Ok. What has got you all wound?” Ida asked as she turned back and walked to the island.
Al looked at his mom. His heart was racing as he tried to gather his thoughts. His mom was one of the prettiest women he knew. She had almond-shaped brown eyes and her long blond hair, which was turning a little grey in some spots, was thrown in this up-do he was sure was done in minutes, the second she walked through that door. Mom always said that pack business was outside of the home, Alpha, and Luna or not. The home was to be a place of peace and calming. Ida folded her hands and as she rested her elbows on the island and put her head on her hands, Al could tell she was more focused than she let on even though she looked completely relaxed. That was the thing about his mom; she always remained calm even when alert and focused. Al relaxed. “I think I found my mate.” Al looked at his dad for confirmation. Declan nodded his head. Ida’s eyes went wide, and her mouth dropped open. She quickly looked at Declan and saw him smile then looked back at Alastair. “Now mom, you said you wouldn’t make a big deal of this. I am not sure yet. I explained to dad what happened and that was what he said. I am going to find out who she is and if she is a wolf although I didn’t sense it when I saw her.” Seeing Al nervous and starting to over talk, Ida reached out and laid a hand on her son’s and smiled.
“I am not going to make a big deal as you say until you tell me for 100% that this girl is your mate. I will, however, want you to be aware that I will make that big deal once she is brought home. Declan startled Al by letting out a big booming laugh. He walked over and put a hand on Ida and Alastair’s shoulders. “Now that I can promise you will be something to see!” Ida waited a moment longer than she wiped under eyes discreetly, or so she thought, and said “Alright, go set the table Al and honey you can help me bring the food out.” Al got up and walked over to the cabinets but before opening them, he grabbed his mom and hugged her. “I love you mom. Nothing will change that.” Ida hugged her boy back hard. “I know that baby.”
Al released his mother and grabbed the dinnerware to go set the table. Once he was out of the kitchen, Declan wrapped his arms around his wife and kissed the top of her head. Ida leaned back against Declan and sniffled. Her little boy was not so little anymore. “Everything will be fine, my moon.” Ida closed her eyes. She loved her nickname. “I know it. It still breaks my heart to have my boy grow into a man.” Declan rubbed his hands up and down Ida’s arms. He understood what she was feeling right now. His boy was a man, and he was going to have a mate and take over the pack soon. Declan leaned down and kissed Ida’s neck where her mark showed with pride. She inhaled sharply. The mating bond rang through her body.
Do you feel how much you still affect me?
Ida smiled and felt a shiver run through her. Her body started feeling an electric charge go through her from head to toe. Declan kissed her mark again and sent another shock wave through her body.
I feel the same way anytime I look at you. You still send shocks through my body.
Declan squeezed Ida’s shoulders. He wanted to take his wife upstairs to their room right now and make her entire body quiver under him. He let out a breath and kissed the top of her head again. “Let’s go bring dinner out and when I can finally get you alone, I will show you just how much I can shock your body.” Declan said as he smacked her on her ass. Ida let out a little squeak then turned to her husband. She reached up and rubbed her hand against his cheek. Declan closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. Ida let her hand rest there for a minute while she took her other hand and touched his shoulder letting it run down his chest on to his solid stomach until she reached the waistband of his jeans. Ida went up on her tip toes and licked up the side of Declan’s jaw while her fingers slipped into the front of his jeans. As she reached what she was looking for, she squeezed his hard length in between her hand and nipped at his chin.
Declan sucked in a breath and Ida allowed her hand to run up and down his length as best as she could with the jeans he had on, and they were getting tighter.
“Mom? Dad? Need any help?” Alastair’s voice broke through the moment. Ida gently removed her hand. “No babe, we’re coming out now.” Ida responded back.
“That was not very nice, my moon.” Declan groaned.
Ida went to the stove, grabbed the oven mitts, and grabbed the pan and as she passed Declan said, “Well it wouldn’t be much fun if I didn’t still tease you now and then.” Ida winked and walked into the dining room.
Declan grabbed the remaining dishes and yelled out, “Yeah we will see how much teasing you get done later.” Declan heard Ida laugh and Al make retching sounds. Declan let out a big laugh and thought Everything is good.
