Moonlit prophecy chapter one: Silver whispers
Moonlit prophecy chapter one: silver whispers The moon rose slowly over the city of lunaris, pale and watchful, like an ancient eye opening in the sky.its light spilled across rooftops, rivers, and narrow stone streets, turning the city into a world of silver and shadow. By day,Aelira Moonwyn was just another quiet girl. she walked the same dusty paths to the market.she greeted the same neighbours.she helped her mother sort herbs and fold cloth in their small home near the eastern wall.No one looked twice at her .No one thought she was special. That was exactly how it had to be. During the day,Aelira kept her head low.she listened more than she spoke. Her dark hair was always tied back neatly, her clothes simple and clean. Her life looked ordinary, safe, small and predictable. But when night came... Everything changed. lysa Moonwyn lit a small oil lamp and placed it near the window. The soft glow filled their home with warmth. "Aelira",she called gently,"don't forget your cloak.Nights are getting colder". "Yes,Mama,"Aelira replied. Her voice was calm . Normal. She took her cloak and wrapped it around herself, hiding the faint silver marks on her wrists marks that only appeared when the moonlight touched her skin. lysa smiled at her daughter."You are growing up too fast,"she said softly."Sometimes I wish I could slow time." Aelira forced a smile.Inside, her heart tightened. If only you knew, Mama. She stepped outside, breathing in the cool night air.The moon was already high, bright and full. And it was calling her. Kael Thorn was waiting near the old fountain in the square. He leaned against the stone edge, arms crossed, eyes scanning the streets like he was searching for something he couldn't name. "There you are," he said when he saw Aelira. "You're late." "Sorry",she replied. kael studied her face. "You have been acting strange lately," he said quietly."You disappear at night. You are distracted during the day.And sometimes..." He hesitated. "Sometimes it feels like you're not really here." Aelira's heart skipped. "I'm just tired," she said quickly. Kael didn't look convinced. He was kind.Too observant.Too close. Dangerously close to the truth. High above the city,in a tower hidden behind ancient stone walls,Elder Nyra stood at a wide window. Her long gray hair fell down her back like silver threads .In her hand ,she held an old scroll covered in faded moon symbols. "The prophecy stirs," she whispered. The symbols glowed faintly in the moonlight. she closed her eyes. " She is awakening." Aelira felt it. The pull. The warmth in her chest. The strange energy moving through her veins like liquid light. She slipped away from me kael, walking toward the narrow paths beyond the square. "Where are you going?"Kael called. "I just need air," she said. But she didn't stop. She followed the moon. Beyond the city walls, past broken stones and wild grass, stood an ancient circle of white rocks. No one went there. No one expect her . Aelira stepped into the circle. The moment her foot touched the centre stone, the world changed. The wind stilled. The air shimmered. The moonlight grew brighter, thicker, heavier. The silver marks on her wrists invited, glowing like stars. She gasped as power rushed through her. Visions filled her mind: A burning city. A broken moon . Shadows swallowing light. And herself standing alone , wrapped in silver fire . Far away , council leader varin stood on a balcony overlooking lunaris. He watched the moon with thoughtful eyes. " The future of this city must be protected," he said to himself. " The future of this city must be protected," he said to himself. He had no idea that a quiet girl in a hidden stone circle was already doing exactly that. Aelira fell her knees. The power faded . The light dimmed. The visions vanished. But the truth remained. She was not ordinary. She was not free . She was bound to the moon. And the prophecy had began. From the tower ,elder Nyra smiled . "The moonwyn child has stepped into her destiny," she whispered. And in the quiet streets of lunaris, the moon shone brightest than ever before. Because the prophecy was nolonger sleeping. It was awake. Aelira stayed in the stone circle long after the light faded. Her breathing slowly returned to normal, but her hands still trembled. The moon hung directly above her now, huge and bright, like it was watching. Not just the sky. Her . She pulled her cloak tighter and stood. Every time this happened,it felt stronger. The visions cleared. The fear deeper. The power heavier. She looked down at her wrists. The silver marks were fading away, retreating beneath her skin like hidden fire. "Why me?" she whispered. The wind answered instead. Kael stood at the edge of the old square ,unease crawling through his chest. Aelira had never walked away from him like that before. something was wrong. Very wrong. He hesitated. Then followed her. High in the tower,Elder Nyra placed the scroll down. " The Moon bound child has awakened," she said. Aelira felt footsteps. She turned sharply. "Kael?" "You vanii," he said ."You scared me. " You shouldn't be here," she whispered. ""What is this place?" he asked."What are you hiding from me?" The moon brightened. The marks on her wrists flickered. " Your hands..." Kael whispered. "please," she said."You have to go." " Not until you tell me the truth." The stones hummed. Silver light rose from the ground like mist. Kael stumbled back. " I don't control it yet!" Aelira cried. The moonlight wrapped around her. " I never wanted you to see this ," she whispered." "What are you?" he asked. " I don't know," she said." But something is coming." A shadow moved. Elder Nyra stepped into the moonlight. "Not alone, child," she said gently. " I have been waiting for you since before you were born." The forest are around the stone circle felt awake. " Easy, child ," Nyra said."Your body is adjusting to the bond." "The Moon bound bond," she said .Older than lunaris." " chosen? cursed?"Kael asked. "Both." "There was a prophecy written in moonfire," Nyra said "A child born under a silver eclipse." "My birth ..." Aelira whispered. " The circle is a seal," Nyra said. "For what sleeps beyond the veil of the moon." Far away,Varin whisky," something ancient is stirring." "Not coming,"Nyra said."waking" "If I'm bound to this," Aelira said,"I need to understand it." "That is why I am here." Symbols formed in the air. Moon script Knowledge flooded her mind Lost cities Broken moons. Fallen guardians. She screamed. "I saw the future,"Aelira whispered. "One possible future," Nyra said. "You could die." "Then I die knowing I didn't abandon you." " The prophecy spoke of. watcher ," Nyra said. "You may be him." Deep beneath the earth, something shifted. Not free. Not yet But aware. "We do not have much time"Nyra said. "Training must begin." "For guardianship. For war. For survival." The wind rose . The moonlight sharpened. The prophecy burned. And the first true chapter of Aelira Moonwyn's destiny began. End of chapter one what would you do if you were Aelira?
