Chapter 1: Curious
Pedro sat in a chair looking at the street. Many different types of mechanical products surrounded him. He was around 5 feet tall, he had short black hair and striking blue eyes. The once mighty hero was now reduced to a helper boy in a small garage with a small salary. Maybe living in the Philippines was a mistake, but he couldn't care less. Despite all this, he didn't care. It might not have been the most advanced country on earth, but he grew to love it over the years. Living a life of relaxation and with little responsibility. Although, the pain still remains. He still remembers the life he once was. He had a different name back then and was a simple farm boy with a family he had sworn himself to look after. Life was hard when he could barely afford any money to feed his family. One day, he heard about the famed magical academy of that time. Back then, magic was a common thing, and people with magical affinities were encouraged to learn. Not only do people get to be more powerful, but it also has many job applications. Too bad that he has no spare money to attend the academy and is about to continue his farm boy life, but his family encourages him. Even as a little boy, everyone knew that Pedro had a great magical affinity and was quite a genius. Many had already tried to persuade him to join the prestigious academy, but he was adamant about looking after his family first. That is until said family became the ones that tried to convince him. He tried to reason with them, saying that they couldn't afford such expenses, but they were very adamant about it. Saying that this could be great for his and their future. It took a lot of convincing, but ultimately, he relented. Two days later, he packed himself and set out on a journey for magical education. With his little money, he was fortunate to get help from a distant relative. Life in the academy left him tired every day, but he never complained. He rose above the ranks at an outstanding rate and became the youngest sorcery graduate in history. Word reached the ears of certain people, and he got apprenticed by many renowned sorcerers and sorceresses. Years later, he became the personal guard of the royal family and was feared by many due to his tenacity and battle prowess. No one can touch him until the day the demons from the underworld decide to take over humanity. The wars that transpired were bloody and horrific, with both sides suffering grave casualties. Pedro himself suffered injuries that any human being couldn't take but, he persevered. He found a way to be even more powerful and with this, with no back-up, all alone, he marched to the castle of the demon king to end the threat once and for all. Many demons confronted him, yet all of them fell beneath him. It didn't matter what type of demon he faced, they all fell. The moment he was in the demon king's throne room, he saw both the king and his queen. The battle that transpired cannot be said enough about how destructive it was. The fight, if you can call it, was out of this world. The might of the demon queen is already beyond what mortal men can comprehend and added to the fact that her king is miles more powerful than hers, many would have already concluded the victor to be the demon king and his queen, but Pedro was not only able to keep up. Still, he was seemingly pushing his enemies on the defensive. Lakes dried out, mountains were destroyed, skies cleared, sound barriers were broken, explosions were everywhere, and landscapes were formed. After the intense battle, Pedro was standing at the top, and beneath him was the demon king and the demon queen. The king of the demons was left gasping for his remaining last breath, unable to comprehend that he was defeated by a mere mortal. The demon king was not about to go down without giving his all, though. With his last remaining strength, he cursed Pedro with immortality. And with all his power left in his body, the demon king is no more. At first, Pedro treated the curse as a blessing, but he would soon learn the severity of the curse. One by one, his loved ones perished as years went by, but he still remained. His friends, his wife, his children, and even his children's children all perished as time passed. Unable to handle the grief of outliving all his family and friends, he snapped and became vengeful. He felled many demons throughout the course of history, but no matter how much he killed...how much blood he spilled...the pain still remains. No matter how hard he fought, it didn't do anything...so he just left. His home, his kingdom, and even his link to his past were all starting to disappear before him. His era was no more. Even the memory of him and his deeds were soon forgotten through the passing of time. He alone is the only history of himself that would link to his time. With nothing better to do, he tried to lay low. For a time he was happy. He tried to build a new family but he soon learned that the pain came back again. Tired of feeling hurt, tired of the isolation, he tried to end it all. Sadly, it didn't work. He wondered what his course of life would be from now on. His hatred for the Demon King was all he had left. He would forever curse his dead nemesis for what he did to him. Now Pedro was just trying to live normally, hoping one day that he would find happiness again. "I wonder what they would think if they saw me right now," Pedro muttered. "The time of magic did come to an end, but unfortunately those creatures are still out there," Pedro thought. His shift ended with a few customers buying the wares. On his way to his house, he felt a sudden presence in his surroundings. "Hmm?" Noises could be heard all around him. Winds blew a speck of dust on the ground. He could see two shadows moving too fast for normal eyes. Soon, two creatures came right in front of him. They both look to be teenage girls, but when you look closely, their faces are disfigured. The other had more eyes than a normal human while the other one only had a mouth on her face. "Demons," Pedro stated. "Hehehe. Look, sister, aren't we lucky tonight?" "All alone. You sure are foolish enough to venture here." "No matter. Let's go, sis. It's time to EAT!!!" They both launch right at him at an incredible speed with claws ready to tear him apart. Pedro, however, remained stoic. Their moves were seemingly so slow to his vision. "No matter what era, your kind always persists in annoying me." With a swipe of his hand, the other demon vanished from existence. "Sister! Y-you! I'll make you pa-" She never got to finish her sentence as she vanished as well. "Every night, every time." With a sigh, Pedro dropped his hand and continued walking as if nothing had happened. Unbeknownst to him, a girl with a cloak saw what had happened from afar. "Curious."
