"Are you sure you don't want me to stay over?" Freya asked for the umpteenth time. She stared intensely into Kelly's eyes this time as she asked.
Kelly had given her a blunt no the first time she suggested stay over the night but Freya dudbt take her word for it. Immediately they stepped out of the room, she asked again and while Kelly gave the same answer, Freya didn't relent. Hoping Kelly would change her mind, Freya kept asking till Kelly lost count of the number of times she asked.
"And for the umpteenth time, no, I don't want you to stay. Not that I don't enjoy your company, I just really want to be alone. Besides, Milky needs to be in school tomorrow, there's no way I'm putting him through the stress of having to rush home tomorrow morning to get ready for school. He needs his full night sleep please." Kelly explained but her heart fluttered when she saw the emotional look on her sister. She really wanted to be there for her like she always is.
"I know you're worried, but trust me, I'm fine so please stop being stubborn and just leave already. It's late already and you don't want to keep Collins waiting any longer." Kelly pressed further while adding a little sarcasm which Freya didn't seem to care about.
"Are you sure?" Freya asked again in a very low tone.
"I insist." Kelly affirmed.
"Call me..." Freya hadn't finished when she was interrupted by her sister who already knew what she was going to say.
"I know you're just a call away. If I need anything, rest assured, you'd be the one to know." Kelly assured her. Freya stood still for some seconds while searching Kelly's expression if she meant what she said. Eventually, she decided to take her word for it and leave her alone to her thoughts like she requested. She then packed Milky's shoes into her bag after which she lifted the heavily asleep Milky from the couch.
"Only God knows for how long he has been sleeping." Freya said as she felt his weight all over her upper body. He probably slept off when he got bored with the movie and since his cheerleaders were busy with bring adult, he had no other choice than to find solace in sleep. They got into the living room and met him sleeping, and throughout their back and forth 'not really an argument' he didn't do do much as flinch.
"He seems to be enjoying it though." Kelly said as she relieved Freya of the bag.
"And its late already, he would be sleeping right about now if he was at home too." Kelly added as they made their way out.
Freya made sure Miller was comfortable at the back seat so much that he would think he was on his bed at home. She hugged Kelly tightly and whispered some reassuring words to her before hopping into the car. Just then, her phone ringed. She checked and it was Collins which made Kelly give her a knowing glance.
"Told ya!!" Kelly muttered with much satisfaction. Freya only smiled and then texted Collins that they are already on their way. Answering the call would only delay her the more as he isn't know for small talks, especially when it's his wife. He could go on for the next hour nonstop. Kelly waved her goodbye as she watched until the car was out of sight.
The atmosphere inside was already altered and back to its lonely state by the time she got back in. This time, it hit her more hard and for a minute there, she wished she hadn't insisted on Freya leaving. After all, she was the one who offered, and if she hadn't been so stubborn, she wouldn't be lonely right about now.
She heaved a tired sigh as she sat in the couch. Her phone screen lit up just then. She checked and it was a text from rose. It started with a love emoji, 'take good care of your self, lots of love, Rose, then a rose emoji, hug emoji, hug emoji. She smiled and then leaned back to watch "The Croods" animated series which was now showing on TV.
An hour later and her phone rang again. It was Freya. She was probably calling to tell her they've gotten home - Kelly thought to herself as she answered the phone. They talked for a while which was mostly about comfort and reassurance that everything would soon fall into place again. Freya must have briefed Collins about it too cause Kelly could hear him in the background just before the end of the call, telling her to be strong.
Collins is Freya's husband and Milky's dad. They both have been in love since middle school but never really did anything about it till their sophomore year when they for some reasons, got really closed. The year ended with Collins properly asking her out and their relationship started at prom.
They have been in love ever since and when Collins proposed four years after, Freya didn't twice before screaming a yes in his face and every other person that was present at her birthday party. Kelly knew about the surprise proposal, she and Collins planned the whole thing with some help from Andrea too.
They got married the following year and Milky came into the picture two years after. It's been unconditional love since then and Kelly thought she had found her one true love as well when fate brought William into her life. Little did she know that he was another heartbreak in the making...
"The only thing keeping me going right now are those two. They are a perfect example that true love still exist." Kelly thought to herself as she managed to get herself up from the couch. She puts off the TV, and lazily walked into the kitchen for a chilled bottle of water before retiring to the bedroom...
