A whisper came from her father: Just stay where you are, sweetheart; don’t come out. I am coming to get you. She said, Don’t worry, dad, I will find my way out, as she stared at the sun, and then she heard a voice from behind who offered to help when she turned to look at who it was. She immediately woke from sleep.
She was worried because she kept on having the same dream over and over again with no meaning, and she has refused to open up to anyone for help because she is scared of the unknown.
She got up, took her bath, and left for school without taking her meal.
Her aunt was worried because she knew that one day Clara would start asking questions about everything—her family, her parents, and lots more.
She said this to Mr. Dave Clara’s uncle, who is also her husband. Honey, I’m worried, he replied. What are you worried about? She said I’m worried about Clara, and he said, Why are you worried about her? She has been skipping her meals lately, and I don’t think she is taking her drugs either. You know that drugs won’t stop her from turning for long; she will soon learn about who she is. Don’t you think it’s time we tell her who she is? What if something happens? He said, Clara is fine; you worry too much. Pack up her food. I will take it to her and get one of the drugs. I will take it to her and talk to her. Is that ok? She replied, Yes, it is. Thanks a lot, honey, and she left to get what he asked for, and she gave it to him, and he left. On his way to work, he called Clara, and she came out to pick up what he brought for her, and they indulged in a little conversation.
He said, Clara, where are your drugs and your headset? What happened to it? Don’t lie to me, she said. It got spoiled yesterday when Jane bumped into me, and the drugs, I lost it. So why didn’t you say anything about it? I was scared and worried that you would get angry, and I didn’t want to upset you. I’m sorry, uncle; it won’t happen again. It’s ok. I brought you a new headset and another set of your drugs and your food because your aunt is worried about you. Then he left, and she went back to school.
They pampered Clara with everything she needed because they didn’t want her to find out yet until they were ready to tell her the truth about everything. Until then, they made sure they didn’t upset her in any way possible.
Clara returned from school and went straight to the kitchen and hugged her aunt. I’m sorry for making you worried; I won’t do it again, I promise. Her aunt turned to her and said, It’s okay, honey. I hope you ate and took your drugs, right?
Yes, I did, she replied. Alright, then go upstairs and change while I prepare something for you to eat, and Clara left and went upstairs, threw her bag on the floor, laid on her bed, and closed her eyes. She had the same dream again, but this time it was lengthy.
A whisper came from her Father, just stay where you are sweetheart don’t come out am coming to get you she said don’t worry dad, I will find my way out, as she stares at the sun, and then she heard a voice from behind who offers to help when she turns to look at who it was, there was a flash of light that shines through her direction and she couldn’t see who it was and then the sun came out and her father was screaming, run Clara, run, run away from the sun, save yourself, run Clara run, but little Clara was just staring and she couldn’t move or run, she was just shouting, dad help me, help me, mom where are you, help me, help me walking towards the sun and the parents knew she won’t get burnt by it but the man tormenting them was smiling and straight ahead she entered the sun and she screamed, help me Father, Help me Mother, where are you and then she woke up and started screaming and her aunt rushed and saw Clara screaming and the house was shaking and there was a loud thundering and she quickly call her husband and he came very fast and injected Clara with her drugs to calm her down.
Then the uncle said this word to the wife: The sun is out (her memories are returning through her dreams and vision). The drugs are not working; her body is regenerating; it’s rejecting the drugs; and it’s a matter of time before she finds out who she is. The wife asked, What should we do? Then he looked at Clara as she lay on the bed, and he said, I don’t know. After a few minutes, Clara finally woke up, and the biggest shock of their lives happened. She asked, Where am I, and who are you people? They were all speechless, and he decided to say, You, Clara Michael Peterson, you are my daughter. Then they left her.
The wife asked, now that you said she is your daughter, what are you going to do if she starts remembering, and this time we have no control over it? He looked at Clara, smiled at her, and looked at his wife and said, I don’t know.
LIGHT FADE.
