5 THE BOY TAYLOR

Clara was in the living study room when her mom (her aunt) entered the study looking for her and finally found her there. She said, So you were here all along, and I was busy looking for you. Clara said, Sorry, I was here trying to study. Her mom (her aunt) replied, Okay, that’s good. Can I ask you a question? Clara said, What’s the question her mom asked her?

Who is he? Her mom was surprised. Who are you referring to, if I may ask?

The new boy who moved in yesterday—oh, you mean Taylor? She said, Is that his name? Yes, and he is not a new boy or neighbor, the mom replied.

Then who is he? Hmm, he is Mr. Shawn's only son.

Who is Mr. Shawn? Clara asked,

Let me tell you a story about our neighbor, Mr. Shawn.

(12YEARS AGO)

THE SHAWN’S FAMILY

Mr. Shawn, Taylor’s father, lost his wife 12 years ago when Taylor was just 8 years old. Taylor was his only child, and he loved and cared for him so much.

Taylor was smart and intelligent, and at age 5, before his mom died, he engaged in the supernatural world at that age, and his mom knew about it because he inherited it from his biological father. Before she died, she left a word to the Father, which says, Watch over him, for he is a weapon that can be used against the human race, and no one must know about him or what he can do until he can control his abilities. Do what you can to restrict him at all costs, and in due time, he will meet her, and by then, he already knows who he is, but for now, keep it a secret from him.

Who is she? The father asks, She is someone I keep seeing in my dreams, and I feel she is connected to him somehow, and I don’t know why.

So Taylor’s father vowed with his life to protect him, and little Taylor on the other side was oblivious to what was happening, and he only promised his mom that he wouldn’t engage the supernatural anymore. He didn’t understand what that meant; he just agreed to what his mom told him because he was just little and he wasn’t aware of what he was doing, and that was how he kept everything a secret, even from his own best friend Jack. They both grew up together. Jack, on the other hand, is Mr. Ken's son, and he has a sister named Jane, who is your friend.

Taylor grew up keeping that secret from every part of him, and guess what happened?

Clara asked, What happened?

Taylor grew up and fell in love with Lizzy, your dad's ex-fiancé's daughter. They were good together until we heard of her death, and till now, we don’t know how she died. Since then, Taylor has been so distant from ladies.

So that is all there is to say about Mr. Shawn.

PRESENT DAY

He is your dad’s (her uncle's) friend, and I’m sure you will get along well with him, her mom said. I was shocked yesterday that he waved at you and Jane. I was surprised. What if he wasn’t waving at us? Clara said, her mom smiled and said he was. I saw it, so don’t cover it all up; maybe he has an interest in you. Clara was confused and asked how that was even possible; he doesn’t know me at all. But Clara said, I’m fine with just being friends with Jane, and he is welcome to be a part of it, but I won’t mind talking to him at all.

That isn’t right Her mom replied, You know I don’t keep friends; can I ask you something? Sure, I’m listening to what her mom said.

How did you know all this? Clara asked, His mom and I are best friends; that’s how I knew all this. Why did Jane act as if she doesn’t know Taylor? She didn’t act like Clara; she actually doesn’t know Taylor.

Then she left, and Clara went back to her studies.

Clara hasn’t been to school since that very incident that led to the loss of her memories. After she stayed home for a while, she decided to return to school the following week.

Back to school again Clara whispered to herself as she walked down the school alley; she wasn’t happy returning to school. All of a sudden, Jane jumped in her front, and Clara was shocked and said, What did you do that for? Don’t do that again; I don’t like it. Jane said, Alright, I’m sorry, but I've missed you, and I’m happy you are back, but you don’t seem to be happy. What’s wrong? I’m fine, Clara said.

Guess what? Jane said,

What? Clara replied.

You remember the new guy we saw around your area?

Yes, what about him? Clara said.

He is a student at this school, and he is in our class.

Clara looked surprised. Our class, you said?

Yes, Jane answered and one more thing she said,

What’s Clara's answer?

He is your seat partner, Jane said.

Clara screamed! What, that’s not possible, no way

Jane said, that sit turns out to be where he seats so you don’t have a choice

Clara sighed and said no problem, thanks for telling me and they both went inside, she saw Taylor and Jane distracted her.

Jack whom is Taylor best friend said there comes your seat partner

Taylor said, she was the girl I saw yesterday when I returned and I waved at her and she didn’t wave back, just her friend.

Jack said, forget it bro, she doesn’t really talk much with anyone, I don’t know why, but I feel something isn’t right.

Taylor said, why did you say so Jack? Or are you in love already?

Jack laughed and said maybe and they all smiled.

Donald was just quiet and he later spoke and said me its Jane I want, but there is nothing wrong with you moving on Taylor, Donald said, after all she is pretty and if am being honest here bro, she is damn pretty to behold by the eyes of any man without looking and she is sexy, if Lizzy was still alive, I’m very sure she would be competing with her, because, damn bro she got everything. I’m not saying Lizzy isn’t pretty, I’m just saying there is something about Clara that words can’t explain. But since she didn’t wave at you then I’m so not saying anything and her friend is Jack twin sister and Taylor was mute for a second and smiled at his friends and he said how comes I’m just finding out that you have a twin? And Jack said bro, it’s a long story, but now you know and they all laughed not knowing that Clara and Jane was actually staring at them.

So his friends decided to make a deal with him, they both agreed to give him 100bucks each if he can make Clara fall in love with him or befriend him, he was amazed by their act and disagree because he is still mourning Lizzy his late girlfriend, after a while they both gave up and decided to believe him.

Donald said, then can I have her? Since Jane doesn’t seem to like me back.

Jack said no way you can’t and Taylor, was just looking at Jack and Donald as they were competing on who will have Clara.

While Clara was still talking to Jane about Taylor.

Jane said, he won’t mind you because he lost his first love.

His first love? Clara said?

Yes, his first love, Lizzy’s death was so painful and it took time for Taylor to heal, despite everything he still blames himself. It was like his whole world crumbled to the ground and it all reminded him of his mother’s death and he felt he isn’t worth being loved until he met Lizzy and everything changed until the same thing that happened to his mon happened to Lizzy too and he called it Fate because he felt no one is met to stay around him or love him and since then, he doesn’t talk much with ladies Jane said.

But one thing that surprises me is?

Taylor was always a happy guy, despite everything that happened around him.

He still makes friends.

He refused to be in the dark.

He refused to be swallowed by it.

He was a shinnying star.

He was a free guy.

Clara said so what is that supposed to mean, it means come out of your shell Clara.

I’m always here for you Jane said and she went to her sit

Clara also went to her sit and sat down not minding Taylor but thinking deep on what Jane said.
