THE VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL wasn’t funny. Adam hovered over her and refused to receive medical assistance for himself. Diane told him that she would follow suit. She wouldn’t let the doctor examine her either, so Adam begrudgingly submitted himself to the doctor’s checkup. The man knew that his wounds weren't severe. But then, he had promised to Diane to go through with the medical examination. Adam never made promises if he couldn't keep them.
He wanted Diane's lungs examined, and all her scrapes tended. He demanded a CAT scan, as well. She had told him that someone had hit her over the head from behind.
The doctor insisted on calling the police right after he saw them. Adam didn’t care one way or another, so he merely shrugged.
The sheriff came and left,
