Abducted
ROWAN
I’d been observing my mark for the last hour or so now. And getting extremely frustrated. Not that it was the October sun beating down on my uncovered head or the hard rock which I am sitting on is currently digging into my butt…
“s**t…” I let out a muted whistle through my clenched teeth, slowly lowering the binoculars.
The girl was smoking hot in her bronze bikini, almost the same color as her skin. It was too easy to imagine her naked... I mentally slap myself.
"Get a grip you moron!"
Now wasn’t the time to think about such things. Timing was everything. As soon as she moved from her position on the beach I would have to move fast. There could be no room for error. Her little Honda Jazz had been easy to open and the rotor taken out. Fortunately for me it wasn’t the peak season at Langebaan yet. The small picturesque town not far from Cape Town, bustling with tourist at that time of year, was comatose at the moment.
Adrenaline coursed through my veins like a raging river. Dammit I need to calm down. I lift the binoculars again, just in time to see her get up from her beach towel and wrapping a silky cover-up around herself. Its go time…
RAINE
“Damn it to Hell!” I am so angry I could explode. The cheek of that bastard! As if it were a venomous snake, I glare at the text my so-called boyfriend sent me.
Dillan: Hi Babe. I miss you.
Me: f**k you! I hit send, almost dropping my cell phone.
The reply came within seconds.
Dillan: Yeah? You interested now?
I bite back a scream. I am so over this! How dare he! And that…that b***h! Pretending to be my friend when all she was interested in was getting into my boyfriend’s pants. Well, you’ve got him, you can have him! Shoving my towel, sketch book and phone in my bag I shrug on my wrap, so eager to get out of here that I am not even going to the rest rooms to undress. I just want to get to the beach house and take out my frustrations on my easel. And I am definitely going to block the SOB.
I rummage through my bag to get my keys and in my peripheral vision I see a black SUV parking right next to my small blue Honda. Damn it, I forgot to lock the car again. I can be such a scatterbrain sometimes. But nothing seems to be missing though. When I turn the key in the ignition nothing happens.
“What the hell??”
I try it again. Nothing.
“Having car trouble?”
The sudden sound makes me jump and the man chuckles. I look up, trying to keep a hold on myself. He scared the crap out of me.
“It just won’t start.” I manage to say.
He opens my door and leans in. “Let me try and have a look.” He flips the lock of the bonnet. I get a whiff of his cologne, its smells like dark chocolate and spice. The sunglasses he is wearing is hiding his eyes but he gives me a dimpled, disarming smile and I feel more at ease. I get out. And then it all went to s**t…
Before I knew what hit me, the man grabbed my wrist, shoving me against my car while forcing my arm behind my back, his body pressing into mine. I felt cold metal against my ribs and my legs liquify.
“Do. Not. Make. A sound.” He hissed in my ear.
“Ohmygod, ohmygod! Please don’t r**e me!”
“Don’t flatter yourself.” His voice sent shivers down my spine. He pressed the gun harder into my ribs. Tears started to roll down my cheeks and I started to shake.
“Do exactly as I say and you won’t get hurt. Nod if you understand.”
I do as he says, fearing my neck would fall off. Oh my God is he going to kill me?
“We are going to move to my car nice and slow. You will get in the back and lie down on your stomach. Are we clear?”
I feel frozen, my mouth is dry and I swallow back a lump.
He growled in my ear: “I said are we clear?” his hand on my wrist tightens I feel the bones crunching and I can’t stop myself from whimpering.
The man shoves me in the direction of the black SUV, opens the back door and I get on my stomach as he instructed. My sobs are muffled by the leather seat. My wrists are grabbed firmly. A cable tie eats into my flesh as he zip-ties my hands behind my back. My ankles are next. I want to scream but my voice hitches in my throat.
He pats my head. "As long as you do as I say you will be fine."
Then he gets in the driver's seat and starts the car.
