Slight differences

Avery's POV

Waking up with your mate by your side has to be the best feeling in the world. I felt him move behind me so I knew he was awake

"Good morning," I said to him

" Good morning love, we've got to get out of bed and start the day," he said

I groaned and got up from the bed because I knew he was right. Looking back at the bed I stared at my shirtless mate and damn he looked good

"Why are you looking at me like that," he said

"Oh, Nothing really I was just thinking about how much I would get if I sold you," I said laughing

"What?! and here I was thinking you were about to proclaim your undying love for me," he said with a smirk

"Soon my dear soon" I grabbed my towel as I was walking into the bathroom I heard him say "At least 100 million "

I was still laughing at my mate's silliness while I grabbed my toothbrush to brush my teeth, as I moved to the sink, what I saw in the mirror made me drop my toothbrush

"Are you ok" Axel yelled from outside

"Yes I'm fine, "I said making sure the door was locked

I walked back to the mirror hoping my ears were back to normal but to my dismay, my ears were still elongated. And my eyes were grey. I was panicking, I didn't know what to do I didn't understand what was going on.

"Avery, your heart is beating so fast what's wrong" I heard Axel say

"I don't know, I can't explain it" I cried outstanding right in front of the door

"We will figure it out together, just open the door my love"

"Ok but promise not to freak out," I said

"I won't, I promise," he said, so I opened the door

"What happened," he asked examining me

"My ears they are-"I began touching them but they were "normal"

"They look the same"

I ran in front of the mirror and stared at myself and everything was truly back to normal

"My ears and my eye color," I said to him

"We are werewolves, such things are normal" he assured

"I know but this is different " I mumbled

"Ok what exactly did your ears look like," he asked

I wanted to tell him that they looked like elf ears but that sounded so stupid

"It's most likely I imagined it, lets not dwell on it, it's not important, I just want to have my bath"

"Alright love, if you say so. I'll leave you to it then" he said walking out of the bathroom

I just rounded up a training section with the young ones and I was about to go to my parents' house because I am totally confused about what happened this morning and I have a feeling that there's something they aren't telling me

"Ave, are you alright? You seemed very distracted today" Chloe said

"I'm fine really, I guess I just need rest" I replied

Before I got home I just decided to get a smoothie from a*****e nearby store

"Luna Avery" I heard someone call out. Well, I'm not officially Luna yet I wanted to shout. I turned towards the source of the voice and saw Claire at a table with some of her other friends

"Hey," I said approaching their table, I had to even though I urgently needed to speak with my parents because everyone's attention had been drawn to me by this lady, it was a small place but I still didn't unnecessary attention

"Hello bestie," Claire said

"What are you doing around this side of the pack, one would think you'd be on the Alpha's bed, " a girl whose name I knew to be Katelyn said with a smirk

Her statement made me uncomfortable so all I did was let out a small laugh. "I was actually going to see my mother" I replied

"Already? It's like you can't live without your parents, first, you run away from your mate now you can't even stay 24 hours without running back to your mother" one girl said and they all laughed. "I personally wouldn't even remember home if I had a mate that looked like that" one declared. "I know right! that man is fine asf and you can just tell he's packing down south" one giggled

Now I was beyond uncomfortable, I was pissed. I growled

"Don't ever in your lives talk about my mate in such a disrespectful manner, whether I'm present or not. I'm the Luna of this pack and you shall accord me the respect I deserve, the next time such a thing happens I will separate your head from your body" I hissed and walked away

"We should have torn them apart for speaking about our mate that way," My wolf Iris said

"No, that wasn't necessary judging by the scared looks on their faces I doubt such rubbish would repeat itself," I said to her

I knocked on the door and my mom opened I knew she was surprised to see me because I didn't call to inform her that I was coming.

"Avery, what are you here? Did something happen?" she asked worriedly

"Nothing happened, my mate is fine...... I'm here because I need answers to some questions, and I feel like I'll lose my mind"

"Ok what happened, "she said

"My eye colour changed, my ears did too and not as they should, my ears looked like those of an elf and I'm sure about what I saw. My eye color changes when I'm happy I thought it was no big deal but the ears?! something is different about me and I'm sure you know" I declared

"You will get an explanation but that will have to wait until your father gets back, he's running a 12 to 3 shift so he'd be back by then."

"Ok mom, I'll wait." I was confused, what was it that my dad was going to tell me, was it that one of them was part elf or something?. The Sound of my ringtone brought me back from my thinking. I checked that it was Claire calling

"Claire"

"Ave, I know you're mad and you have every right to be but please forgive me" she said

"You just sat there and let your friends disrespect me,it's not right"

"I'm so sorry, I know I messed up please forgive me. I'm such a bad person " she muttered

"You are not a bad person, ok I forgive you," I said

"Thank you, you're the best friend ever" she proclaimed.

"So why exactly were you going to see your mom, you looked disturbed earlier, Is she ok?" she asked.

"She is, we just have things to discuss . Family drama nothing too serious " I said

"Hmm when are you gonna be done, Let's hang out," she said

"I'll be here till 3 so I'll call you," I said

"Is the Alpha cool with you being away for so long, I mean most males can't stand being away from their mate" she asked

"I told him that I'm coming to see my mom and Axel is very mature and loving," I said proudly

"Alright, if you say so," she said

"I do, but I'd still call to tell him that I will stay a bit longer," I said

"Cool, well bye see you later"

After ending the call with Claire I called Axel to tell him to inform him of my plans but he was busy so we didn't really get to talk.

It was 3 and dad had gotten home, he was surprised to see me at home but didn't say anything about it. I let him freshen up before I asked him

"Dad, mom said you have an explanation for why I have elf attributes"

"This conversation is long overdue, it's something we should have told you before now but I didn't know how to do it. You see my love you are not our biological child, I found you in the forest during patrol work in the arms of an elf many years ago. We had found her in our territory, it wasn't normal for an elf to be on werewolf land so we were going to bring her to the pack for questioning but we were ambushed by rouges and she was killed. She left me to you after making me promise to take care of you. I don't know much about her but I believe your biological mother was an elf and for some reason, someone had wanted you both dead ." he said

"Wow" that was all I could say

"We wanted to tell you but we didn't know how, please forgive us for keeping it from you" mom sobbed.

"Although I wish you had told me sooner. This doesn't change how I view the both of you."

"We are sorry we know we should have told you sooner but we didn't want to lose you," dad said

"It's fine, it's just nice to know that I'm not crazy. This elf thing changes nothing. I'm just going to ignore it" I said

"Well now that I have my answer, I guess I should be on my way, I promised Claire that I would hang out with her so I'll get over to her place," I said standing up

"Honey are you sure you are ok"

"I'm fine, it's a lot to process but like I said it changes nothing. Love you both, byeee" I said walking outside.

"Iris what do you think about all this"........" I don't know but I doubt you can ignore being part elf-like, maybe that's what is affecting our shifting control," she said

"Well we are just gonna have to figure it out."
