Chapter 14 – Sera
I froze, the towel slipping from my hands and hitting the floor with a soft thud. My heart slammed hard against my ribs, each beat was louder than the last, drowning out the faint sound of the dorm’s heating system.
River’s eyes widened, and his frown was deepened as he turned toward the door.
“Who’s that?” he asked, his voice was low, like he was bracing himself for something worse than Kael’s temper tantrum in the hallway.
I couldn’t answer,my throat was too tight, and my mind went spiraling into a thousand directions at once. They found something in your locker, and it’s bad. The words kept replaying in my head.
What could they have found? My locker was just… my locker. Maybe books, a spare hoodie, some protein bars but nothing bad. Unless…
