Three weeks ago Scarlette's parents called her down to the family room. They lived out of the pack house so they could have privacy, it was a quaint little two bedroom one bath house. It did have a beautiful kitchen that had a lot of natural light due to the huge bay windows in the kitchen, Brad and Amelia modified it to have the bay windows, it was great in the mornings to sit on the wrap around bench and eat breakfast with the sun hitting your back. The living room was moderate sized, enough for three people, it was where the family could all have a place to sit without feeling crowded, no one was squished, Brad had a leather recliner that had his butt print in it, Amelia had an overstuffed chair that felt like a cloud if you sat in it, and Scarlette had a loveseat all to herself, to have a discussion about what her intentions were as a pack member. Scarlette had no idea what they were talking about, they were Gamma's so she assumed she would just stay and be the new Luna's body guard like her mom but the girls of the pack hated her and none want her anywhere around them or the powerful males of our pack.
"Listen Scarlette the pack members are scared of you they don't know you. They won't give you a chance and you haven't helped the situation!" Brad said
"How have I done anything to them for them to hate me or even fear me? They should be glad I want to protect them when they haven't helped me or even tried to get to know me, this isn't fair for me either, I have been an outcast my whole life because the Moon Goddess just decided to give me Sky?! That's not my fault!" Scarlette said pouting at her parents.
She heard Sky in her mind growling and mumbling about something but she couldn't focus on her as Scarlette's anger grows her power is leeching out of her and starting to make her parents nervous, and she knww Alpha power it makes it very difficult for lesser ranks to stand up right so she had to try and control her anger about her pack not being understanding about her unique position.
"Now Scarlette you need to stop blaming everyone else for your short comings, just tell us what you're planning and we can tell the Alpha and Luna!?" Amelia chimed in, cooing and condescending all at the same time.
At that statement Sky let go a gut wrenching growl and as Scarlette struggled to gain the use of her vocal chords she chokes out "I'm not planning ANYTHING I am a Gamma and I am prepared to take my place as a Gamma, regardless if you or the higher ranks believe me, you all need to except that response as my answer."
Without a second thought she turned and ran out of the house, shifted and let Sky roam in the woods both of them need time to regain their composure and to let the pain of the harsh statements from her parents subside. After a couple hours of rage roaming and pacing back and forth Sky just stopped and started frolicking in the trees like a pup again, Scarlette was giddy at how Sky was acting, prancing of all the things Sky was high step prancing. She would roll in the grass and pine needles on the ground, she was having the time of her life. It gave Scarlette the time she needed to overcome her own feelings about the parental ass chewing for no reason. Scarlette didn't know why Sky had lost her composure it wasn't anything new. Brad and Amelia had been saying she had something planned for the last month, it was unexpected when they brought that up the first time but it had been an ongoing argument lately which made Scarlette question whether her parents loved her at all.... Scarlette was deep in thought and didn't realize Sky had crouched down very low to the ground and was growling......
"Scar we have company!"
Sky said in Scarlettes mind, it snapped Scarlette out of her gloomy thoughts. Sky was at least aware of her surroundings more then Scarlette was right now. Sky scented the threat way before the intruders did because the shocked expression in the rogues eyes was priceless. There was ten rogues circling Sky when Sky had mentioned it to Scarlette.
"What do they want? Are they seriously trying to fight right now? Scarlette squeaked to Sky. Sky kinda giggled because of the fear in Scarlettes voice.
"Don't worry about it, they are probably just protecting their den."
Then Sky stood at her full height and the rogues just stopped circling and growling and started it looked like bowing and backing up where they came from.
"What was that Sky, why didn't they attack all rogues are murderous monsters that's why they are rogues and not in a pack?"
"Do not assume on what you have never faced Scar, just because your parents believe that it is surely not the case." Sky snapped at the air but it felt like grating glass in Scarlettes mind.
"I'm sorry Sky didn't know that you thought like that about outcasts." Scarlette whimpered back at Sky not wanting for her to be upset with her right now.
"It's fine just don't assume they probably have a good reason for being lone wolves ask instead of assume!" Was Sky's rebuttal but Scarlette could tell it was better not to talk right now so she opted for just saying "I'm sorry, I'll do better."
Sky headed to their place they had found the night of our first shift. After they had shifted Brad and Amelia were in awe and the look in their eyes were of pure unhindered murderous intentions with Scarlette in the cross hair's. She was afraid at that moment for Scarlette so Sky acted like she didn't see and turned her back on them and started frolicking like Sky knew they expected from her and then took off at a fast sprint and as far as she could get away from the people that looked at her with unveiled murderous intent.
Sky was just about to jump in like she always did at their spot but Scarlette said
“Wait! I want to meet the wolves out here. Do you think they will have a problem with that?
“Scar do you really want that or are you saying that because you assumed about them?”
“Sky, I upset you, and yes I want to make up for that also but I really want to know about them.”
“Alright we will go back and see if we find them you will have to be in human form otherwise you will not be able to communicate.”
Scarlette shifted back a safe distance from where they had the rogues circling them and she walked back to where they saw them.
“Hello? Hello? Anyone out here that would care to have a conversation with me?”
At that a huge wolf that was half hiding behind a Sequoia, shifted into her human form.
“HI my name is Lillian.”
Scarlette was not trying to blush but Lillian was not shy and she was naked she had a plump physical appearance with grey hair, but kind and non judgmental eyes.
“Are you the one we saw earlier the pure white gigantic wolf?”
“I am. My name is Scarlette Almond Quinn and I come from The Blue Heroux pack.”
With that Lillian backed up like she was scared or something. Scarlette made a mental note to ask questions about it later.
“Lillian what are you doing out here? Is there a reason you aren’t in a pack?”
“Well Scarlette we have been in a pack before, however if you are deemed “unusual” or “unstable" the higher ranking wolves don’t like you and will do anything in their power to get you out. We are out here because of a couple with the last name Quinn.”
“Let me guess Brad and Amelia Quinn? They are my parents, they are the reason I am out here also. They blamed me for something I didn’t have anything to do with and didn’t do what the school called and said that I did.”
“Well that is understandable, that is why most wolves are out here. We got blamed for something or another and ran off to avoid punishment.”
Scarlette felt so bad for the rogues now and was completely guilt ridden because she had just done what all her bullies had done her entire life, judged her before getting to know her.
“I am so sorry that all this has happened to you all because of my parents truly despicable of them. I also need to apologize for my snap judgment of rogues I was always told rogues were murderous villains and I believed it. So Lillian I Gamma Scarlette Almond Quinn apologize to you and pack rogue. I really must be going though now. Thank you for the conversation.”
“Thank you Scarlette and I have to leave as well.”
Scarlette walked back the way she had come and shifted so she could think of everything she had just found out. Sky took over and left Scarlette alone with her thoughts. She needed time now.
