The Unexplained Alpha

The Fortress

So when Scarlette shifted for the first time, like she has said before, she towered over her mother and fathers massive wolves. They were both above average sized wolves however when it came to Sky she was well above the above average wolf.

Sky had such a unique coat that most if not all could not find her if tracking her, and she could shrink down so low and sneak past the most capable tracker. Which they had tested this theory countless times with the trackers that the higher ranks have sent after them or the ones Scarlette's parents sent they had evaded them all and returned when they felt like it.

Sky was furious at Scarlette's parents and was headed straight for the fortress while they were running Scarlette loved the sound of Skys paws hitting the ground with such force that it shook in Their wake, and the speed in which was impressive to her human eyes looked like we were hitting speeds of 60 to 90 mph at times.

They started slowing so Scarlette knew they were close to their favorite spot on this planet; Scarlette looked out of Sky's eyes just in time to see the entrance of the cavern come into view then Sky took a couple more steps and lept into the air, Scarlette squealed in excitement as their body flew for a few seconds and then dropped into air she was diving straight into the water below. A good 100ft drop into an underground lake.

The fortress was after they landed, it was beautiful here, the lake was cerulean blue in day and midnight blue at night, the beach was soft and the caverns that laid beyond, one could get lost in. They normally did get lost in here they didn't want to return to their everyday life.

"Hey Scar we need to talk." Sky has always hated saying Scarlette so she gave me the name Scar.

"What's wrong Sky? I have never in all this time have ever seen you loose your patience like that?"

"I know I'm sorry I shouldn't have lost it like that, I'm sure if they weren't terrified of you before they are now, and Scar it wasn't just contained to the house it leeched everywhere. Everyone heard the growl. I'm afraid for your safety now I don't think that was just a discussion..........I heard the Alpha come by last night, they were talking about rogues and possibly chains and wolvesbane to control us, if we tried to intervene with the plan."

"What plan Sky? What exactly did you hear? Are you telling me that my parents are trying to harm me or worse yet think that they could kill me?"

"Scar I can't answer those questions about what they would or wouldn't do. I did hear that they wanted to take some kind of power but not from who and then said it was all about the blood noir pack. Do you know if there is someone there that has a lot of power?"

"Not that I know of but I don't think they would tell me anyway."What are you talking about Sky?" Wolvesbane is a dangerous herb that can if not dosed right can kill us. It burns on contact and can leave severe welts and burns also.

"That's what I heard Scar and now with me being angry and showing a little of the power you and I do wield I believe your life is in danger."

I was stunned would my parents out of fear truly chain and poisen me? I had no comprehension of how long I had been silent but it scared Sky.

"Scar please don't leave me I have noone else but you, and I can't survive without you I won't survive without you"

"I'm here Sky just thinking would my parents really be that way could they do that to their only child the only one that has survived this long just to be chained and poisoned BY THEM!!!"

"Scar I don't know what to say I am just telling you what I heard. I don't know if they would actually do that heinous act but they were talking about it, I never heard names either so I'm not sure who they were talking about."

I was quiet for awhile just contemplating my words but they all left me I had no words for the information I had received from my only ally.

Scarlette was quietly thinking of her options when the condescending tone of her mother broke through her thoughts...........

"Scarlette where are you, you have disappeared on us in the middle of a conversation yet again!! This is what I was talking about, about you not helping the situation with your peers."

"They"re not my peers they are horrific to me and all you and dad say is turn the other cheek or walk away or some other not helpful quotation that has no bearing in this situation!" Scarlette snapped back at her mother.

"Now my girl you need to understand them, now where are you so we can finish this conversation in person like normal families, and you need to control your wolf she is out of control!"

"Sky is fine, I am somewhere safe for now, I am coming back right now you can talk to me this way, Sky heard you all talking about the plan. What plan mother? Are you planning some kind of war with Blood Noir?"

"OH my daughter that isn't important right now, we were under suspicion of Blood Noir's Alpha trying to attack us that was all that we were talking about."

Scarlettes mother cooed in her mind it grated on Scarlette's nerves when her mother used that tone it wasn't sincere and Scarlette knew she was trying to convince Scarlette of something false, a false security if you will so she wouldn't ask any more questions.

"Fine mother don't tell me I don't care but I'm not coming back just for you and dad to say all this is my fault, nothing I do is ever good enough for you or him or the entire world so just let me be for now I will come home when I feel like it and not a moment sooner!!!"

Scarlette snapped back down her link with her parents, and then it went silent no response to her tirade. Which was odd because normally when she would start to get upset her father would bark at her and that would take all the fire out of her soul. He was a scary man when he got mad but right now she was feeling quite pleased with herself for standing up for herself, she was normally very timid when it came to her parents but today she had had enough of the condescending, unrealistic "good advice" they had always spouted when she would get upset and start standing up for herself and then her father would use that tone and that was it she was defeated, to be honest she didn't like her mother but her dad was her hero she was the biggest daddy's girl. Her and her father were thick as thieves some days as long as she wasn't on their bad side otherwise she was a loner and alone. If she upset one the other was mad at her too.

Scarlett thought it best to stay away for the time being. She felt it necessary to protect herself and sky she didn't know why she felt like this but she did feel that it was important, she also realized that at some point her parents could most likely be the danger the sky noticed on their first shift, now she was almost certainly terrified of her parents. Scarlette didn't understand how someone that gave birth to her could ever want to harm her.

Scarlette had decided not to think anymore about her parents or any of the other stuff, that had happened today she was going to stay away and relax, and not even worry about what her parents or the higher ranking wolves in her pack thought of her. So with that being in mind, she swam to the beach, she had a towel and a blanket already stashed from her multiple visits here, so she went to her hiding spot grabbed her towel, grabbed her blanket, laid it out on the beach underneath the hole so she could get some sun. It was so warm she laid there and closed her eyes and just let all the worry, that was on her mind drift away, listening to the water lapping at the shoreline, it was very peaceful, very calming she decided that she was going to take a nap.

“Scar, are you alright? You have been very quiet for a long time."

Sky asked tentatively, trying not to disturb the peacefulness that had came over her since she laid on the beach.

“Yes Sky, I am alright. I am just letting both of us have a break from the stress of today.”
