Scarlette couldn't believe what she was hearing her parents? REALLY?? They could really do that to her? Her parents, they could poison her?
They could seriously chain her up, Force wolf's bain down her throat, burn her, choke her? Most likely it's silver chains, so she would be burning from the wolf's bain and the silver! They could really do that to their own daughter?
They could force her to do whatever they wanted, however they wanted, to whomever they wanted, and they didn't care?
They don't understand her predicament? They don't understand how much this hurts, they don't understand that her wolf's hearing was exceptional that she would possibly hear what the Alpha and her parents were talking about? What makes them think that she wouldn't retaliate against them or the entire pack? She couldn't do this she couldn't even fathom why her parents would suggest something like this wolf's bain and chains she just couldn't!
Ok Scarlette needed to calm down. This is not how or what her parents were doing. She just needed to focus, and calm down, think rationally, and figure out what her parents were trying to convey. If they were trying to help the Alpha figure out what to do with her, or if they were figuring out what to do with her themselves. She could do this she just needed to focus.
"Sky are you sure what you heard?
"I wouldn't lie to you that is not in my nature you are my only friend and my only Ally I have to be honest with you if you can't trust me who can you trust?"
" You are my only friend also I have nobody else obviously I just need to relax and focus on me figure out what I'm going to do I can't do it all by myself so I am lucky that I have you and we talk."
She was laying next to the beach with the lake just lapping on the shore touching her feet. The cerulean waters were warm and enticing her to come for a swim. She did just that she went into the clear warm waters intending to forget her problems for awhile, being athletic Scarlette loved physical exercise to keep her mind off of the situation with her pack. At this point that was were it was with the entire pack not just four members it was everyone and she couldn't help but feel hopeless at this point so some endurance training in the lake might be a good thing.
She just swam out into the middle of the lake and stayed there, in the middle of the lake treading water, she knew she could do this for hours because she had done it before for hours, her dad's idea, said it was just in case she was tortured that is kinda on the nose now and hysterical for her now too, the one thing in endurance training that she never did before was drowning so it was about time she tried not actual drowning but the lung expansion so she could hold out longer in torturous situations. She held up her hands to the bright blue sky over head and sunk, tried to focus on what the water felt like, so she explained it to herself; wet, warm and cold below the surface, murky as if something was disturbing the settled dirt on the floor of the lake, she then wondered what creatures would be in this lake, fish definitely, she wondered if there was jelly fish or manta rays probably not but that would be cool. Scarlette started to dive further down to see what was actually disturbing the lake floor it was an undercurrent Scarlette didn't feel like following it right now so back to the surface she went. It was getting late cause the sun had sunk behind the opening but wasn't dark yet the sky was beautiful at this time its orange's, red's, and purple's made for a calming effect in the world saying its time for relaxation and peacefulness its time to get ready for bed.
Scarlette swam to the beach and decided to not go home tonight considering everything she was told and that Sky was still angry and didn't want another screaming match between all of them.
She watched the rest of the orange disappear out of the sky, then went into a tunnel to find a cave and make a makeshift home for the night, she did link her parents in to let them know she wouldn't be returning tonight and would let them know if or when she was not angry with them any longer and when or if she would be returning.
"Mom, Dad I am still angry with you for not listening to me, so I will not be returning tonight, I'm safe and warm. Also I will contact you if or when I decided to come back there!"
"Scarlette, we did listen to you, you didn't listen to us we should be angry with you but we aren't it's called being a responsible adult and you obviously aren't one." Condescending tone and overly sweet again from her mother.
Oh brother! The sweetness was so sweet that it could give anyone a toothache that was in hearing distance to her mother, it just gave Scarlette a headache. She had found her spot so decided she better go up to the woods and get some sticks and wood for a fire because the walls of this particular cave was damp so it would get cold in the night time. She went up top and searched for some twigs and logs that weren't big big but good sized for a heat source tonight. She deposited her wood in the cave, started a fire, put the medium log on it once it got going and her tummy rumbled, she had forgotten to get anything to eat so back up top to look for something to eat, she found a couple of rabbits, some wild strawberries and raspberries. She went back to her cave to cook the rabbits over the now roaring fire. She now sated and sleepy curled up by the fire and drifted peacefully off to sleep.
Scarlette was standing on the outskirts of rogue territory, looking in on her pack. Going on like nothing was wrong, that she wasn’t missing from the daily grind. Scarlette looked over at her childhood home with longing, and her mom and dad had just stepped out of the front door. They were smiling and laughing with each other. As long as Scarlette could remember, they had never done that. They always had a sour expression on their faces. What was this? Scarlette stepped out of the trees, and called her parents.
“Mom, Dad I’m over here. I just came back to see you, see if everything was ok.”
They didn’t even look her way, didn’t even look like someone was talking to them. How could they just blatantly ignore her? Could they be that angry at her? Scarlette started running to her parents, but she wasn’t going anywhere. She was just standing still. What in the world was going on? She screamed as loud as she could.
“MOM, DAD, I AM OVER HERE. I CANT GET TO YOU! MOM, DAD HELP I CANT MOVE!”
Again nothing from her parents. They couldn’t hear her. She wasn’t there. Scarlette tried to just walk to them then, and finally, it looked like she was getting closer. Her parents walked away from the front door and Scarlette froze.
Inside the doorway of her childhood home, there was a chained, burned and bleeding Scarlette, her face had welts and burns, blisters on her face and around her mouth, she was strung up by her wrists with silver chains, her feet barely touching the floor. She came to a horrific discovery. She was on display! Scarlette’s once luxurious ebony hair was now a dull matted mass on her head. Her once bright eyes were now lifeless blue orbs, in a slack and tear streaked face. Scarlette’s clothes were just shreds of fabric, Scarlette had old and fresh bleeding wounds, were she was whipped.
Scarlette woke up in a start, sweating and crying. It was a dream. Oh my goodness it felt so real, she had actually cried in her sleep. Was that a vision of what her parents were going to do? Or have done to someone else? Scarlette could not fall back to sleep right then, she put another log on her fire, and curled back up and started crying. For herself and Sky, for her parents, for all the mean pranks at school, finally the dam broke and she let out years of pain, anger, resentment, and unreturning love for herself out. She was terrified of what she saw in her dream, knowing that, that could be what was in store for her. Scarlette finally cried herself back to sleep, dreaming no more.
