A knock at my office door, is a welcomed distraction.
She’s beautiful, I’ll give her that. Her beautiful blonde locks and crystal blue eyes had me hard instantly.
“This is a pleasant surprise” her thin body gliding across the polished floor like an angel. Her elegance and confidence shone brightly over the rest of the available wolves, I had no doubt she would make a fine Luna.
Which is what we need. More so now than ever before.
“Mmm” she threw her leg over mine, sitting her firm little ass down on my restrained c**k, becoming harder by the second “I missed you today”
“How much?” I nipped at her neck.
The tender little spot that will soon have my mark. Her pulse thumping against my lips.
-We have a situation- Sebastian’s voice flooded through my head.
-sort it out- I told him focusing back on the prime meat grinding her core against my eager bound c**k.
-there’s a child-
Frustration grips at my chest.
-it’s julian- Callum interrupts.
My nephew. Who went missing 4 years ago, a week before his mother was tortured and murdered, being hung out in the Forrest by a man I’ve never been able to track.
“Dyl?” Grace questioned as I pushed her aside.
“Sorry” i force a smile, smelling her need dribbling down her inner thighs “I must go”
“Now?” She had every reason to be pissed. But tonight, I do not have the tolerance to deal with her demanding spoilt behaviour that, if history has shown me, is about to surface “you cannot be serious. I’ve barely seen you today”
I ignore her and walk out the door.
I needed a mate. To strengthen the house of the bloodmoon. Not because I wanted one.
An Alpha can’t be at it’s best without its other half. And though grace is not my fated mate, she will be a strong Luna.
I’ve seen how women can weaken men substantially, and though a Luna will strengthen this pack, being at a woman’s mercy is not on my agenda.
The marking needed to happen sooner rather than later. I could not afford to find my fated Luna. I do not need a weakness. I will not have a weakness.
As soon as that thought entered my mind….I smelt her.
~mate~ my wolf growled.
Salt and metallic scents filtered through the air as we came to the edge of the border.
Nothing packed a punch as much as the scent of fear. My mates fear.
An urge to protect her and my nephew who was frozen solid by his own fear.
My wolves spread out along one side, as we approached the terrified creature stuck by a metal trap. A contraption that has been banned for decades in these forests.
The retched smell of the rebels soiled the air. Their blood soaked into the hard ground by the injured wolfs paws.
My nephew huddled beneath her belly as the rebels closed in on them.
Snarls echoed across the open field. A sure sign that the rebels are aware, they are no longer alone.
A black cloud radiated around her. As her emerald green eyes hit me straight in the Heart. Eyes…that I know from somewhere.
Her scent strangely familiar. I know this wolf. Somehow, from somewhere.
Her body shook, little spasms made her head tick one way. The white scars that filled her small body, parting her black as night fur, reflected off the moon.
Luka, my beta, a man I’ve always known to be in complete control, suddenly no longer had any as he charged for the wolf that implanted it’s teeth into her hind quarter.
His cool calm demeanour no longer present as his anger is very quickly taking over his control.
Julian noticing this, pulled at the trap around her leg, growling as he forced it open the smallest amount.
She pulled her leg free, the teeth of the trap still gripping at her skin. The fresh blood making my wolf howl in pain.
The trap snapped closed, julian immediately grabbing her face, pressing his lips into her ear.
The need to rip my own flesh and blood apart at the forefront of my being as he touched her…with love.
She’s mine.
“You need to go, Zia. Please. They will kill you” he whispered so soft that it’s impossible that everyone else heard his pleas over the snarls and snapping of teeth.
Zia? Lukas sister? It can’t be.
-protect them- I told my pack as Realisation and reality took back over my mind.
I’m an alpha, standing here like a rabbit in headlights is not changing the situation We have found ourselves in. They need leadership. They need me.
The moment my pack moved, the injured wolf slammed down her injured hind leg, her stance strong and powerful. Her hair all standing at attention.
Her teeth elongated to double their length. Longer than even mine.
Her body shook as blood weeped from her gums, as her little head ticks all started to add up to something far more sinister than just an injured wolf.
Every single wolf stopped, stepping back as she snapped at each of them, pulling julian in close.
Not even luka is safe from her. She lunged at him as he stepped closer to her.
-stay back- I warned.
He may remember her, but it’s obvious that she does not remember him. Or anyone.
Shes been missing since she was 4. Taken straight from beneath her mothers nose. 18 years ago.
Her protectiveness of julian in full force.
I needed to get him out of there. She may not wish to hurt him, but I did not want to take chances.
“Julian, come” I demanded, his foot taking a step.
“Do not lure the boy, alpha” she growled, keeping him in place.
The order I give, can never be disobeyed. Not to my pack, and Julian is my pack.
My blood.
“Julian. Now!” I growled.
His feet moved back and forth on the spot as the she wolf became angrier. But Julian still stayed by her.
“Uncle. Please” Julian begged as his hands spread out over the length of the black wolf “don’t hurt her”
The scent of his father coming up behind us, had relief flood through me.
“JULIAN!” He yelled, catching the boys attention.
“Dad” his bottom lip started to quiver as his father ran straight out to him before we could stop him.
Though she didn’t let down her guard, she allowed Daniel to charge at her in his human form pulling his lanky son into his chest.
The bloodmoon pack lowered their heads in appreciation of the reunited pair.
The rebels, seen this as opportunity. Lunging at her from all angles the moment Daniel dragged his son from the livid she beast.
Distracting her from her own safety, focusing dangerously on Daniel. Opening up a perfect time to strike.
She yelped as teeth tore at her flesh. Her body crumbling to the dirt, her teeth snapping as wolves all went for the kill.
“NOOO!” Julian screamed, his own body forcing a shift.
I launched from my position landing over her. Ripping the rebels throats open starting a war that will end in more blood shed than we have ever seen hit the forest floor.
The Young wolf, in his anger charged, not seeing the enemy clearly. Only seeing me over his protector as she bled out lifelessly beneath me.
He hit me with so much power, it sent me skidding along the ground in such a speed that not only made me proud of the young boys strength but down right furious of his removal of me from my mate.
The remaining rebels took off with their tails between their legs.
Julians naked human body huddled over my mates head as he stroked her cheek.
And though I wanted to rip my nephews head from his body, his protection of her had my own knees become weak as I heard the very faint beat of her heart.
“Stay strong zia. Please don’t give up” he rocked her lifeless head back and forth on his knee.
I let them get to her. This is what fated mates do. Blind us until we lose.
“Zia. Look at me!” Julian shook her head “look at me”
Luka whimpered as he laid beside her body.
“You done this!” He growled at his father “YOU KILLED HER! You all did”
The angry teen, shifted back to his wolf, standing over her as he growled at luka to back off.
Luka dove at him pinning Julian beneath his body.
“ENOUGH!” I boomed as I pulled luka off the snapping teen. Standing between the 2 angry wolves as they snarled.
A teen wolf can very much take on a beta in the devastation that poured through Julian’s body.
But a beta who just lost his sister, again, can just as easily take him on.
“She’s still alive” I informed them as I left my wolf form, reaching to pick her up.
Julian launched for my back, the moment my back turned.
I spun grabbing his throat, lifting him into the air.
“You wish to fight me for my mate, pup?” I growled, staring long and hard into his angry eyes.
Not being able to see past his need for blood.
Silence.
Not even a stick snapped as the pack heard me announce their true Luna. I internally cringed as I realized my mistake.
My own anger and devastation blinding me as much as it did the 2 fighting wolves.
I tossed Julian away, he landed with a thud gripping at his throat.
He will heal, though I probably could’ve reigned in my strength a little.
I scooped up my mate.
Her limp, tortured body so much worse than I had noticed from afar, hung lifelessly in my arms.
Julian back up to his feet, beside me, cradling her head before I had even managed to take a step.
“Fight” he whispered in her ear, ignoring the obvious strain on his throat “your strong”
“Get me dr Owens” I told Sebastian, who took off instantly in the direction of the doctors house.
“The doctor won’t help” Julian’s voice low as his eyes never left her face “she’s been this way for a long time. There’s nothing that can fix her”
“What is wrong with her?” Luka asked.
“Lots” julian shook his head “please, let me take her away from here. She can’t be here”
“We are her pack” Luka reminded him “she is where she should’ve been”
“You don’t understand. She’s dangerous” his pleas falling on deaf ears.
I will not be letting her leave this pack. I don’t care how dangerous she is. Feeling her body in my arms is enough to know I will not be letting her leave my sight. I can’t.
Fuck.
I haven’t even seen her human form, her wolf form isn’t what catches an eye. It’s far from attractive.
Can she repel me? I hope so. I needed something to break this fast building desire in my centre.
For my pack.
I can reject her-
~no~ my wolf snapped ~she is our mate~
~she is broken and far from what a Luna should be~
~She is made for us~
~you heard the boy. She’s dangerous~
For the first time in my life, I didn’t know what to do. I already knew it’s too late to reject her.
I needed to see grace. I need to mark her.
I turned to hand luka zia, my wolf fighting me as her frail body moved further from mine.
“Take her” i growled.
-Dylan? No- he read my eyes as his anger resurfaced -don’t do this to her-
I shoved her into his arms, my wolf howling as the contact stopped.
I forced max out of my mind as I turned my back, ignoring every emotion trying to take control.
Grace squirmed beneath me as I rubbed my self against her. Her sweet smell becoming sour as each second passed. My c**k not reacting the way it has always done.
More deflated than a popped balloon.
My teeth grazed her neck as she begged me to mark her. I fought my wolf until my teeth pierced her tender skin.
Suddenly, like a breath of fresh air, everything changed.
I can breath. I no longer felt zia. Her pain had stopped. Her scent No longer tickled my nose.
What have I done?
I stared down at grace as she panted with the pleasure the mark of an alpha gives. Her n*****s brushed my chest with every breath.
Her scent didn’t change. She didn’t smell like my Luna. She still smelt…the same.
“That was…weird, to say the least” grace ran her knuckles over my cheek as she caught her breath “I don’t think I’ve ever had an orgasm before you have even entered me”
I rolled off her, not able to stand those blue eyes any more. They done nothing for me.
They weren’t the green of zias.
A long painful howl filled the night air. A shiver ran down my spine.
Luka.
~what have you done~ max howled.
My blood ran cold. No….
I couldn’t get to the pack hospital fast enough. My heart struggled to beat.
“ZIA! FIGHT!” Julian’s voice packing a punch as it reached my ears.
She wasn’t breathing. Her scent had gone. This time…..she was gone.
I couldn’t look her brother in the eyes as his cold hard eyes burnt into the side of my face as I entered the room.
Knowing I done this.
I couldn’t feel max any more. I couldn’t feel anything.
Her wolf slowly disappeared as her human body laid naked on its side.
The scars….
Raised red lines covered her pale body. How does she have scars? Only now making me question them.
She can heal. She shouldn’t have any.
“No…” Julian cried as he slapped her face “WAKE UP!”
“C’mon buddy” Luka gently grabbed his arm trying to pry him from beside her side “she’s at peace now”
“You don’t understand” Julian cried “this has never happened”
“Sometimes things get broken that can’t be fixed” Lukas underlying meaning directed straight at me.
I took a cautious step towards her.
“You have done enough” Lukas hand pressed against my chest stopping me from getting any closer “I will be taking her now. Burying her with her family. You don’t deserve to see her or touch her. Leave”
I rubbed at my chest as the last half hour repeated in my mind. The thought of just touching my new Luna made me sick to the core.
Even when I fought max to mark her, I didn’t want too. Not really.
I just needed to stop the pull this girl had on me. It shouldn’t be like this.
She isn’t meant to die.
A snap of a bone, and luka being thrown backwards into the wall taking out dr owen, brought all of our attention to the short green eyed dead girl now standing up with Julian hidden behind her naked body.
Her long dark hair hung in waves over her bare chest.
She’s absolutely stunning.
Luka held his snapped forearm against his chest as he held out his other in a calming way. As he stood.
The faint beat of her heart slowly started back up again.
This isn’t possible.
Not that I’m complaining. But even as she broke Lukas arm, her heart didn’t beat. It barely beat now.
