1. Zia
A metallic scent wafted up my nose, jerking my eyes open.
I scanned the immediate area, not scenting the young one.
“Julian”
“Zia!”
I took off in the direction of the young pups voice. The scent stinging my nose.
He’s injured. That’s not the worst, there’s 4 more scents. They tickle my nostrils the closer I get.
I ticked as I hurdled a fallen log in the dense forest. Falling with a thud.
I ignored the muscles in my body as their spasms had it nearly impossible to run.
-let me- cyn, my wolf growled.
-you can’t. You have less control than I do- I told her back.
I lifted myself back up, the scent getting stronger the closer I got.
I made it to the opening. All 4 wolves getting into position as they heard the twigs break beneath my feet.
I handed over control as cyn launched into the air, our body twisting and cracking into place. Landing directly behind the pup.
Straight on a trap.
The Metal slammed around my hind leg, the teeth hitting my bone.
“Please!” Julian cried out “don’t hurt her!”
I grit my teeth, ignoring the excruciating pain. I had more pressing matters at hand.
We were quickly being surrounded by more and more wolves. My maternal instincts vibrating through my blood.
12 wolves circled us. All with their teeth on show, matching mine.
“Please!” Julian’s pleas were falling on deaf ears as they circled “my name is Julian King. I’m the son of Rachel king. My grandfather is your alpha”
I grabbed the back of Julian’s tshirt, pulling him under my belly.
“Your grandfather is dead, boy. As is Your Mother” the bigger wolf smirked “but I’m sure we can take good care of you”
Wolves snap their teeth around us.
There’s no way I’m going to win this fight. I’m strong.
When I’m healthy. But unfortunately that’s not the case at this current time.
Julian’s heart beat fast with the news of his family. I wish I can take his pain away. However, the news of who he is enhanced the wolves excitement.
Is this boy the heir to the bloodmoon pack? Suddenly the situation became much more dire.
“What is this creature you travel with?” Another wolf laughed, imitating my ticks.
As hurtful as it is seeing a grown wolf criticize me in such a way, I’ve grown a thick skin.
Another wolfs teeth gripped onto my tail. I spun around planting my teeth in its throat, ripping it straight from the bone.
A few Wolves yelped as they stood back, while the rest came in closer.
“Please” his salty tears making me ache as Julian walked back to in front of me “let us be. We will leave”
“Awww Boys, Look at This” the big wolf laughed “he’s crying”
He dropped to his knees, trying to pull the trap from my leg. Wiping the tears from his cheeks, covering his face with my blood.
“No!” I stared at his face in a panic, making sure the blood didn’t get in his eyes or mouth.
“I don’t care” he cried yanking at the trap, trying with all his might.
“I do” I growled.
I did not need the alpha being infected like me. I don’t even know if a normal wolf could survive it.
