-is he bigger than usual?- I asked, shocked to see him at least a third bigger than in the forest. -he’s a big motherfucker regardless- I shifted into my wolf, as the 8 wolves that can fit in here safely all shifted. With not a second of hesitation, it launched at me. It’s speed and agility much better than previously too. Though I’m a bit quicker. I continued to dodge each lunge as I tried to plan an attack. A wolf hit the wall with a whimper, then another. 2 more moved in to replace them. It’s healing much faster than us. After an hour, the end is seeming further away. Every chunk I ripped off him, it regrew before my paws landed back on the floor. We were down to 5 wolves. His cockiness as he smashed his chest like King Kong, made me glad these things are no longer roaming this earth in the packs they once did. There’s just no enemy for a creature like this. It’s a true apex predator. Their need to breed will eventually win out over zia, mating with any female they can get their claws on. Which in itself is terrifying. There’s no way a woman could ever endure a beast like this. If by some miracle one did, the birth of his offspring would surely kill her. An immortal incubator is what they really want. Which explains why they tested vampire blood on zia. The horrid thought, made my stomach churn. That was my mistake. My legs flew out from beneath me, as I was slammed into the ceiling, falling head first back down to earth. Instant brain jumble. -MOVE!- luka growled. I rolled to my back in time to see its large jaw quickly approach. If there’s one thing I hadn’t expected, it would be a second lycan. The walls shook as a piercing roar made all the last standing wolves whimper. Luka pulled me away from beneath the lycans distracted monstrosity of a head. ~zia~ maxs panic drawing my attention to the stairs. The black wolf changed before my eyes, as her pain in the shift had me gasping for air. Her green eyes focused on the lycan, her shakes barely even noticeable. As she stood up on her hind legs. Her fangs if I had to guess, would be nearly the height of her human form. She casually walked up to the lycan, who is lost to his need. Maxs anger as he seen her place her hand on the lycans face nearly had him rip out of my body. She ran her nose over the scarce fur that covered his neck. The shock of my mate touching another males marking place had me in turmoil. Very briefly, until blood splattered the walls as she shook her head. A vicious fast paced fight breaking out in front of us. Lycan blood coating the room as zia ripped into his flesh like a savage. The male didn’t stand a chance, his body torn to un-healing slabs of flesh over the floor. Then she stopped. Standing over her kill like we wanted to steal it from her. The full moon behind her catching my eye. Pieces falling into place as the seconds ticked by. Not one wolf was brave enough to move as she stared at all of us in a blood infused rage. The rabies weren’t injected in to her to kill her. Instead to weaken her. In her human form she’s sick. In her wolf her shakes are much worse, but in her lycan…..it doesn’t look to effect her at all. Or does it? She took one step towards me before collapsing at my feet. Her body slowly shifting to her wolf, then to her human. I quickly covered her with my jacket. Lifting her up in my arms. “Double the patrols. Strictly no approaching” I told my pack, as they looked from each other with questions of the events that just unfolded “we will meet for discussion at 9am sharp” “Is she ok?” Carlos asked, with genuine concern. The last thing I ever wanted my pack to know, is what zia is. The unsettle and concern about their safety is understandable and it’s expected of them. I just didn’t have answers to promise them 100% safety. Or the patience right now to deal with their concerns of my mate, that is here to stay. Regardless of their opinions. “I don’t know” I honestly said, looking down at her shaking body. “We have been blessed with a mighty luna” dean added “we would be all dead if not for her” “We may not have had the situation if not for her either” Paul muttered. It was wishful thinking that they wouldn’t piece that together. “A male animal, whether a lycanthrope or a wolf, or even just a plain rabbit has a need to breed. A desire every one of you know first hand. To strengthen our family, extend our blood line. If they do not come for zia, where do you think they will go?” The room fell silent as my question very quickly filled their minds. “The weres have been extinct for hundreds of years. Someone has somehow brought them back. Zia was once and still is a bloodmoon wolf. She is the sister of luka, your beta. My mate. And the future luna. We do not turn our backs on our family. Just like she has not done the same thing to us. I understand the unspoken concern, but with or without zia someone has brought these creatures back. Our women and children are not safe. As men, the protectors of this pack, we will protect what is ours” “Tomorrow, we will discuss ideas. Plans to keep our pack safe. But for now, go home to your loved ones. And put yourselves in your alphas situation. How would you all feel if it was your mate that these creatures are hunting?” Luka firmly said. “I don’t need to think about it. I already know I’d lose” Carlos said “but I will go to my mate, I will not speak of the dangers. I don’t want her living in fear. And I will be here at 9am, ready for preparations” He walked to me, looking down at zia. Closing his eyes, he bowed to her. Saying his prayers to the moon goddess, to protect his future luna. One by one, each wolf repeated carlos’ actions. Until it was just luka and I standing amongst the blood and gore. “I had expected an argument” luka raised a brow at me. “We enjoy our women far too much to risk them” Luka a Perfect example. His love for women, a known fact amongst the pack. Without them he would simply not exist. “Mmhmm” his mouth kicked up at the side in a smirk, but it didn’t hide his concern. “She’s ok” I told him “but I don’t want that to happen again. She’s very weak. I can’t even feel her wolf” “What did they do to her, man? We don’t even know the half of it” I eventually laid her down in my bed, watching her chest raise and fall, covered by one of my shirts. Did she know what she was doing? Or did she just want to kill a threat? She was frenzied. Her adrenaline pumping through her veins. If she hadn’t passed out, would she have attacked us? I had so many questions, but no answers while she slept. A full moon has changed from being a night to be celebrate to a night to be feared. But one things for sure, she’s a force to be reckoned with. The male was impossible to us, but was equivalent to a fly to her. However her pain, is out of this world. I thought her usual days were painful. But it was nothing compared to the shift between wolf and lycan.
