Each passing day it got harder and harder to avoid zia. I didn’t want too but thought it best after I stupidly told her she is my mate.
I didn’t even consider her inability to smell me. Or the possibility of her running because I could hurt her unknowingly.
The pain I felt when I held her is much worse than I had ever imagined. The turmoil she endures on a daily basis, no one should have to go through.
I wanted the journal.
My office door swung open, as zia charged into my office.
Dragging grace by her hair.
I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out.
“Let go of me you stupid ogre” grace kicked her feet at zia, missing each time.
“I can smell you” zia growled “on YOUR MATE!”
She yanked grace back to her feet, then swung her hand with no effort at all, launching grace at me.
I caught her by sheer accident. Everything was happening so fast I just wasn’t able to process what the hell was going on.
Grace cried pressing her face into my chest.
“She’s crazy baby” grace sobbed, as a new scent tickled my nose.
Jealousy. Not just a tiny bit of jealous. The sweet intoxicating scent nearly suffocated me.
She threw me grace and the moment she did, she hated her against me.
It’s what this is all about.
My scent on grace.
Where she came up with the idea that grace is my mate, I don’t know.
I stabilized grace on her own feet, at arms length. Making sure she isn’t touching me.
The moment I let go of her arms, she came back at me again, wrapping her arms around my neck.
Zias eyes zoned in on the blonde, as I keep my hands out at my sides.
Her wolf is certainly starting to feel the pull. Which is not something grace is prepared to fight.
“Grace, you need to move away from me” I told her, not taking my eyes off zia.
“She’s crazy. She sniffed me out in the court yard. Questioned me for why I smelt like you” she wailed “I told her your my mate, then next thing I knew I’m being dragged by my hair”
“You what? Grace-“
“It’s the truth!” Grace cut me off “just because you haven’t rejected your mate yet, doesn’t mean I’m not going to be it”
“Grace-“
“What’s her damn problem anyway” she continued to cry “she’s disgusting. Her little crush is just that. A crush!”
I grabbed her arms, unraveling them from my neck, standing her back at arms length again.
Max’s anger very quickly growing as graces insults and the mention of rejection rang in my ears.
I couldn’t think as a whole new scent filled my nostrils.
Zias hurt. Her eyes dropped from grace, as she stared at the floor.
Her ticks slowed as her eyes went blank.
~go to her~
It’s easier said than done.
“You should leave”
Grace didn’t move. But zia walked towards the door, not even looking up. Her fight completely gone.
“Zia. Not you” I pulled away from grace, grabbing zias arm.
“Please don’t tell me you feel sorry for her” grace hysterically laughed, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Grace, leave” I warned.
“No” she scoffed.
“GET OUT!” I boomed, between graces stubbornness, my mates hurt and maxs need for blood, my control is wearing thin.
“She can leave, this is my territory” grace growled back, her eyes on zia.
I let go of zias arm, walking to the door, opening it.
“I won’t tell you again, grace” I pointed to the opening.
Grace walked past zia, with a smirk on her face, swinging her hips as she does.
Dragging her hand over my chest as she left.
I closed the door, deciding whether to lock it or not.
If zia has a sudden urge to leave and she felt trapped, she would panic.
But I also didn’t want anyone seeing her this way.
I locked the door, going straight to her. I held her palms to my cheeks, knowing it will warm cyn.
She stepped into me, pulling her arms between us.
“You want to reject me?” I barely heard her ask.
“Never” my arms tightened around her shoulders, feeling her body relax against me.
The pain and hurt mixed together, is much worse than the last time I held her.
“She said-“
“Ignore her” i soothed giving her a small squeeze “there’s no way in hell I’d ever reject you. You are chosen for me by the moon goddess. You are made for me as I am for you”
The gamble I made was f*****g stupid. Just thinking back it made me sick to the core.
She pressed harder against me.
“You would prefer her though?”
“No” I didn’t even hesitate.
Grace has always been just a luna for my pack. That’s all I’ve ever really seen her as. Nothing more.
“Id understand if you did. I wouldn’t want me either”
“Hey” I pulled my head back, lifting her chin to look at me “I never want to hear you speak like that again”
It was a risk, being firm and demanding. I didn’t like hearing her have so little value in herself.
When she accepted my words, by not arguing back, the risk is worth the reward.
She raised, placing a kiss on my chin.
Her eyes widening, the moment she pulled away.
Cyn very much taking advantage of her current state. Their communication is quite fascinating.
Cyn shouldn’t be able to do as she wants. It shouldn’t be different to what zia wants either.
The 2 are 1. But somewhere along the way, there’s been a breakdown.
Wolves can sometimes take over if the human becomes weak, or has given up.
In this Instance, cyn feels what zia isn’t. But the bond is reforming. I can certainly feel it. The jealousy display just now, is a certainty cyn feels it too.
But zia, is very quickly heading for a complete internal breakdown.
Very much like the lycan.
