*The Wait* Chapter 9

*1 month Later*

Jackson's p.o.v

It's been a month and all I have been doing is by Rain/ Sophie's side. I got to know a lot about Rain's wolf. She isn't any different than Rain, as I was sitting in the shed with her on my phone since I couldn't leave. She was sleeping, Izzy walked in and as soon as she stepped in, Sophie jumped up, getting ready to attack. I had to shift to my wolf to stop her. "Sophie, it's OK, she is Rain's friend Izzy, I had to tell her through the link. Sophie sat back down looking at Izzy and then looking at me. I shift back as Izzy turns so I can change. " Izzy, what are you doing here? You could have gotten killed." I'm sorry Jackson, I was just curious about why you have been here for over a month. And now I see why Rain hasn't been answering my calls or texts." What happened to her? Why is she still in her wolf form, she asked me. Izzy, this can't get out to anyone, do you understand? "Yea Jackson, I understand now what is going on Jackson?" Rain is a unique kind of wolf. We don't know how long she is going to be like this. I hope she will come back to me soon. I miss her deeply, but this is Sophie her wolf. Sophie, this is Izzy Rain's best friend. She isn't here to hurt me or you, she was just worried about me and Rain. Izzy is just looking at me as I rub Rain/Sophie's fur and she's just rubbing her head against my chest. I sit where Sophie sleeps as she lays her head down on my lap while my wolf howls happily. Izzy sits with us for a while as I tell her what happened and what is going on. Then she gets up to leave, see ya later Jackson and it was nice meeting you Sophie, and then she leaves, shutting the door behind her.

The days and the weeks pass by and still no Rain, it's still Sophie and me. We watch TV, we take runs where either pack can't see us on our run. As we headed back to the shed, my father mind-linked me saying I had to come to the packhouse. But, dad, I don't want to leave Rain. Who knows what her wolf might do if I'm not around. Son, have her father keep an eye on her for a while. Fine, I will take her back to the shed and call Alpha Markus.

On the phone:

Hello Alpha Markus, is it possible if you could keep an eye on Sophie? My father wants me to come to the packhouse. I don't want her to do anything while I'm not around.

Sure thing Jackson, she is my daughter, after all, he says with a laugh.

OK, see you soon.

End of call

I waited for Alpha Markus to come to the shed so I could head out. In the meantime, I explained to Sophie that I had to leave for a little bit and that she couldn't come with me this time. She looked at me, but I then said to her that her father was going to be there with her. She understood and lay in my lap. When it comes to lying and sleeping, she likes it when I'm either in my human form or my wolf form. It all depends on her mood. Soon, her father walks in and I get up from sitting with Sophie and walk out the door. Before I did, I looked at alpha Markus. If anything changes, can you please call me? Yes, Jackson, I can do that.

At The Packhouse

I arrived at the packhouse and saw my father was waiting for me with an emotionless expression on his face. "Dad, what's wrong? is everything OK with you and mom?" Yes, son, I just wanted to see how you were doing? Have you eaten at all or even slept?" " Yes, I have been eating and sleeping. Alpha Markus has been making sure of that. He comes by every chance he gets to check on me and Rain/Sophie. I'm just waiting patiently for her to come back. " What will you do when she comes back and still doesn't know that you're her mate?" " I'm just gonna have to tell her or maybe this will bring us closer to each other. Son, it's been a month since she shifted. How much longer will you wait? I will wait as long as I am still breathing. OK, son, I'm just making sure this is what you want. It is dad. Her father says that after she shifts back she will just shift like me and you. But I'm going to go back now so I can be there if she shifts back. I want to be the first one there when she does.

The Shied

After being at the packhouse, and having that run with Sophie, I was really tired, so I decided to go to sleep for a while once I got back to the shed. As I walked in, I saw alpha Markus reading a book to Sophie. As soon as Sophie smelled me she jumped up with happiness. I smiled at her as she came to me rubbing her head against my body. " OK Sophie, I'm tired, I want to sleep OK." So she ran to her bed, knowing that's where she wanted me to be. She only mind-links me if she wants my wolf. So I grab a pillow and blanket and lay next to her in my human form. I say goodbye to alpha Markus as he walks towards the door saying he will be back later with some food. I nodded and then lay down. I lay there for a while thinking to myself as Sophie was lying asleep with her head on my side. I realize it's been like this for a month. Rain only has 4 months left until her 18th birthday. All I want is to tell her that she is my mate, forget about my whole plan, forget waiting to find out I want her in my arms. As I thought to myself, I felt myself drifting off and the next thing I knew was that I was asleep.

I heard my name being yelled, not knowing where it was coming from. Then I notice that I'm on this beach dressed in white, still hearing my name.

Jackson, where are you?

Recognizing the voice, it was Rain, " Rain, where are you, I'm here.

Jackson, please come get me. I'm scared. Please come get me.

So I start walking to the sound of her voice as she is still calling me and pleading for me to get her. I started walking towards her voice, so I started moving faster. I stopped when I saw a girl in white, her hair flowing down her back blowing in the wind. She turned to me and I looked into those familiar purple eyes.

"Jackson, she ran to me, hugging me," I want to go home. Please take me home?"

I looked at her with tears in my eyes touching her face. Then let's go home. Rain, I miss you so much. Please just come home.

I then awakened with an arm across my chest and, as I got up and turned to see a naked Rain lying asleep next to me. " OH MY GOD RAIN, I said, grabbing her into a hug with tears falling down my face."

Um, Jackson, what happened and where am I? I paused for a moment just looking at her and touching her skin, but then realizing that she was naked, I turned to put a blanket over her, with me blushing. " I'm sorry Rain didn't mean to see anything. I am just so happy to see you. After that, I called her father to let him know that she shifted back. Rain was still confused about what was going on. I told her everything would be explained when her father got to us. And just sat there and held her close.
