Elizabeth walked down an abandoned alley. She knew it was a dumb idea considering that there were a lot of murders happening in the area, but she needed to slip through the lane to get home. As Elizabeth walked she heard footsteps from behind her. When she turned, of course, she saw nothing. She continued to walk, and as she walked the steps continued to follow her. Elizabeth put her hand in her pocket and handled her Taser. She carried both the Taser and pepper spray, but she used the Taser more often. Elizabeth knew self-defense, but she was pretty deadly when she needed to be. She heard the footsteps growing closer and right as they were on top of her she turned so quickly that it surprised the male behind her. She pulled her Taser out and promptly shot him with the Taser.
Elizabeth saw him fall to the ground as she Tasered him. "Follow me again, and I can't guarantee what will happen to you next time." She said as she stood over him. Elizabeth turned to walk away when something grabbed her ankle. She looked down, and the man she had just Tasered was holding onto her ankle. He looked up at her with bloodshot eyes. As Elizabeth stared into those eyes, it started to pull itself up. Elizabeth screamed, and just as her teacher had always said, she began by grabbing his arm, and she threw him over her shoulder. As he landed, she turned the other way and began to run. Right before she reached the end of the alley, something snaked across her waist and pulled her back. Before she could scream again, a hand covered her mouth. The man behind her sniffed her neck and whispered: "You, my dear smell excellent, how lucky of me that you were walking down the same alley I was."
Elizabeth shivered in fright. "This cannot be how my life ends; I had so much to live for. My life was beginning, and I have many friends. I just got my life on the right track, why now?" She thought. Her eyes searched for something that she could use for a weapon. She found nothing, and as his fangs scraped across her neck, another voice rang out. "Let go of the woman, and you know that you are not allowed to drink the blood from humans." The male holding her turned his head slightly and said: "Ah, so you finally decided to catch up to me after I have killed five people." The male behind them replied, "You have been hiding from the enforcers. It took us this long to track you, and since it took us this long to track you. It has been determined that you will be killed upon finding you. Let the woman go and fight me to the death."
Alec looked at the rogue and sighed. His job as an enforcer was something he was proud of, but his mother was pressuring him to quit and find his mate. She wanted grandchildren, but Alec wasn't ready for that yet. Alec had been hunting rogue for some time now. The rogue was one of his old friends, Chris. Chris had already given up the hope that he would find his mate, so he began to drink blood from humans. It would be painful, but Alec had made a promise to Chris and vice versa. If one became rogue, then the other would kill him. Alec finally tracked him to a small alley, but before he confronted Chris, he noticed a sweet smell of vanilla in the air. He ignored it and confronted Chris. When Chris turned around to face Alec, Alec nearly stopped breathing. In Chris's arms was a beautiful woman. She had shoulder length blonde hair, and the deepest blue eyes. She was not a small thin woman, but Alec was enjoying looking at her.
Elizabeth looked at the man in front of her. He was staring at her, and she was annoyed. The man holding her was just weird as was the one in front of her. They were talking about blood and enforcers and death. As she watched the two converse, the man who was holding her loosened his grip and Elizabeth saw her chance. She began to struggle, and since he was absorbed in the conversation, she was able to break free of his grasp. As soon as Elizabeth was free, she ducked around the man who was holding her and, she ran out of the alley. Without even stopping to make sure that they were or were not following her, she ran straight to her apartment and locked the door behind her. She sank to the floor of the apartment and whispered: "What was that all about?"
Alec watched as the female ran from Chris's arms. He wanted to chase after her, but he knew that if he didn't kill Chris here and now, it would end badly. Alec was about to launch himself at his old friend when Chris suddenly disappeared. Alec growled out of frustration then sighed, now that Chris was no longer in front of him, he could focus on the woman who ran. Alec began to follow the vanilla scent and soon found her apartment. He watched her from a distance as she prepared for bed. Once he was sure that she was asleep, he entered her room. She was sleeping soundly on the bed, and as she slept. "My god, she is gorgeous. I am lucky to find my mate finally." He said, almost purring. He began to stroke her head, and as he did, she began to stir under his hand.
Elizabeth had gotten ready for bed soon after she questioned what had happened. As she slept, she had the dream again. A man she didn't know approached her. He took Elizabeth into his arms, and right before she kissed him, she woke up. When she opened her eyes slightly, she saw a strange man in her bedroom. Before she could scream, a hand was placed over her mouth. "I am not here to hurt you, my dear, I just had to meet you." He said her eyes went wide as she realized that the man who was in front of her was the same man who confronted the killer earlier. "If I remove my hand, are you going to scream?" He asked. Elizabeth shook her head no. The man removed his hand, and Elizabeth quickly moved away from him. "Who are you?" She asked. "I am Alec. I am what you humans call a vampire, but I am part of the enforcers who protect humans from vampires who have become dark. That man who attacked you was an example of a dark one." Alec answered. "Why would he attack me? I am just a normal girl." Elizabeth explained. "Well, that isn't entirely true, the women that that man targeted was more than likely targeting them because they were mates to others who have not turned to darkness. You are like that, so I believed the others that he killed were the same." Alec said, "What do you mean that I am like that?" She asked. "You are the mate to one enforcer, and I know this because the enforcer that you are meant to be with is I," Alec replied, looking at her in the eyes.
Elizabeth looked at him in surprise. "That can't be right, I'm human, and you're a vampire, as you say. How would this even work?" She asked. "When we mate for the first time, I will bite your neck, and as I do your life will be elongated to meet my lifespan. If I die, then you will as well, and vice versa. A mated male is very protective of his mate, for if she is mated to an enforcer, the fight will lose a great warrior." Alec answered. "How is it that you know that I am the one for you?"
Elizabeth asked. "The female's scent is unique to her, and it will be the male's favorite thing, mine just so happens to be vanilla, which is what you smell like," Alec answered, looking at her. "So let me get this straight, that guy targeted me because apparently, I am a female who can mate with vampires and on that note, I am your mate. Because of this, all your enemies will target me to get to you?" She asked. "Well to sum everything up, yes that is all true," Alec said. When he turned to look at her, he discovered her gone. Alec looked throughout the room for her, only to find her completely missing.
