Chapter 16

As both Elizabeth and Alec turned around, the look of surprise on both of their face was expected; for who had been following and calling out to the pair. There behind both of them huffing and puffing was Adam and Ben. Adam was standing up straight, but Ben, however, was hunched over trying to catch his breath.

"Wait Elizabeth, I forbid you from going with Alec," Adam said in between the panting. Elizabeth's face grew red with anger, and right before she was about to answer Alec glared at Adam and said: "You have no right to tell her what she can and can't do....." Before Alec could continue, Elizabeth put her hand on his cheek and cause him to look down into her crystal blue eyes. "I have this Alec....." She said, turning her attention to Adam. "As he said, you have no right to tell me what to do. You may have been my legal guardian; however, that privilege was something you lost when I turned 18. I am an adult, and now I am free to do what I want. I wish you could have been happy for us, but instead your acting like a five-year-old and throwing a temper tantrum over this. Mom and dad would be disappointed in the way that you are acting." Elizabeth said as she watched their reactions.

Ben took that opportunity to speak up. "Elizabeth, I am happy to have a niece or nephew, and I am also happy for your mating because it means no matter what Alec will never betray you. Adam isn't happy that you didn't try and consult with us first....." Ben said. "How in the heck am I supposed to talk to you; when you both are keeping me out of this life? How the heck am I supposed to talk to anyone when I was all alone? Do you realize how much pain I went through while you two were trying to play protective brothers?" Elizabeth screamed at both of them as the tears flowed down her cheeks.

Alec quickly wiped her cheeks and then turned to the men. "This kind of stress is not good for either Elizabeth or the baby. If you will excuse us, then we will leave you here. Until after the child is born, please leave Elizabeth alone." He said quietly wrapping his arm around her waist. "Wait, Alec; you can't take her away, you can't take them away from us. She is our precious little sister...." Ben tried to argue; however, Alec ignored him. He quickly launched himself and Elizabeth into the air disappearing into the night.

Ben angrily looked at Adam. "Look at what you did, thanks to you I'll be surprised if Elizabeth ever wants to see us again. I hope you are happy with yourself." Ben growled quickly stalking back to the warehouse. Adam looked back up at the sky then whispered: "I'm sorry mom and dad, I couldn't even protect her as you wanted." With those short words he too turned back to the warehouse and began to walk again.

As Alec flew through the air, Elizabeth couldn't help but clutch his shirt a little tighter. Alec felt this and realized that tonight might not be the best time to return to Europe; however, tomorrow was a new day. Quickly he changed direction and began to head back towards the cave. When he landed, every male stopped what they were doing, and noticing Elizabeth curled up in Alec's protective brace cause everyone to look relieved. Damien quickly appeared from his room. "Oh thank god Elizabeth, your safe. We all were worried about you. Everyone here is glad to see you safe and sound." Damien said the relief evident on his face. As Elizabeth poked her head out from Alec's embrace, she could see everyone's face they were all smiling, and soon she too started to laugh. Alec quietly released her, and then she said: "I'm back." "If you don't mind everyone, she has had a bit of a stressful time, and as you all know she is pregnant. So, for the time being, we are going to retire to our room for some rest and relaxation." Alec said quickly bowing to everyone and gently pulling Elizabeth to him by her waist. Immediately he began to walk, careful to make sure that Elizabeth was not about to fall as he led her away. As they walked through the crowd, Elizabeth had heard whispers of welcome back, and congratulations.

As soon as Alec and Elizabeth entered their room; Alec gently placed Elizabeth on the bed and kneeled in front of her. "Elizabeth, I know that what happened between you and your brothers is difficult. But for now, focus on yourself. Tomorrow we will go to Europe, and there you can relax both your mind and body for the baby. Together the two of us won't have anything to worry about." Alec promised to hold onto both of her hands.

Elizabeth had her head down not wanting Alec to see we tearful expression over what had conspired that night. When she heard Alec's painful whispered her head immediately snapped up, and her blue tear-filled eyes me his jade green eyes. "Alec, it isn't your fault if anything; it's my fault. I mean, I dragged you into this fight among my family." She said as the tears slowly began to flow down her cheeks. "Oh, angel, none of this is your fault. All you did was just be yourself, and for that reason, there are many who love you. All of this shows how much both of your brothers love you as well as care for you." Alec said as he gently wiped her tears. "Everyone here was too worried about you. I was perhaps the worried the worse about you. All I could think about was, what would happen to our people if something happened to you. I know that if you died, then I would not hesitate to join you." Alec said his eyes shone with a sadness that Elizabeth had never seen.

Alec quickly stood up and laid on the bed, carefully pulling Elizabeth to lay beside him, and pulling her closer to himself. As soon as Elizabeth was next to him, she buried her face in his chest, and her shoulders shook as she cried. Alec stroked her head until finally, she cried herself to sleep. When she was asleep, Alec whispered: "No matter what I will be your support."
