Chapter 20

Elizabeth sighed as she stared out the window. It had been seven months since she left that note for Alec. Her child was growing, and soon, it would be ready to be born. Elizabeth still couldn't bring herself to return to Alec. He must have been so hurt reading that note that she left for him. Staring out the window, she failed to notice the male who was approaching the home. The door behind Elizabeth flew open with a bang, and she turned around scared. In the doorway stood the one man whom she had been avoiding the whole time.

Alec stood there, panting from exhaustion. It took him nearly eight months to find Elizabeth she had significantly hidden. Finally locating her, he immediately rushed to the cabin. Throwing the door open, he was met by her scared expression from the sound of the door opening. "Elizabeth...." Was all that Alec whispered before he rushed across the room to take Elizabeth in his arms. Carefully he held her tightly. "Why, angel, why would you want to leave me. Why would you think you weren't good enough?" Alec whispered to her.

"It wasn't that I thought that, it's just the baby, was so young and there was just so much going on. I wanted to give the baby a chance to grow, a chance to live in an environment where no one had any expectations for it. The stress for me was just too much. I didn't want to worry you." Elizabeth said, looking at the ground. Hearing a sigh above her head, she looked up to see Alec relieved face. "I was so worried it was something else that caused you to leave. I'm sorry about the stress that you were under. No one ever meant to put you under that...." Alec said, looking away from her. "By the way, how have you filled the craving for blood?" He asked, looking at her suspiciously.

"Oh, that? That was easy when I was still at the beginning of the pregnancy I hunted and kept all the blood in the fridge, ensuring that I would have blood." Elizabeth answered as she was about to say something else, a pain in her abdomen caused her to hunch over in pain. "Elizabeth? What is wrong angel?" Alec asked, holding onto Elizabeth. "The baby....... The baby is coming." Elizabeth said in between pained breaths. "But the baby isn't due for at least another month," Alec said, trying not to act panicked. "The baby has been more active recently I figured they were ready I just didn't think this soon." Elizabeth gasped.

Alec carefully picked Elizabeth up and laid her on the bed. "I'm sorry angel, there is no time for someone else here to help. You and I are going to have to deliver our child." Alec said Elizabeth nodded. In an hour Elizabeth laid in he bed exhausted. She had delivered the baby. However, Alec took it into another room to clean the child off. Elizabeth wasn't even sure if the baby was alright. Soon Alec entered the room once more holding a small pink blanket in his arms. Carefully he handed the sheet to Elizabeth saying, "This is our daughter; she is perfectly healthy for being premature." Elizabeth held the little girl in her arms, and tears of joy filled her eyes.

"Hi, there little girl. It's your mommy. I'm glad to see you made it here safely." Elizabeth cried happily as she got a closer look at the baby in her arms. The baby cooed at her lovingly and reached her hands towards Elizabeth. Elizabeth gave the baby the finger, and it held onto the finger tightly. Alec sat next to Elizabeth to gaze at his daughter as well. "What should we name her angel?" Alec asked, "Jasmine, let's name her Jasmine" Elizabeth answered with a smile as she looked up at Alec. "Jasmine, such a wonderful name for her. She is the first female born in over 500 years. Hopefully, she will grow up strong, and she will have a powerful mate." Alec said as he allowed Jasmine also to grasp his finger.

Alec smiled as he watched both his mate and child with a warm glow in his eyes. The anger he felt from trying to locate them disappeared in an instant. The second he held his daughter he was so happy. Everyone else would be excited to learn of young Jasmine; however Alec knew that it was not the right time to reveal her to everyone. He carefully wrapped an arm around her shoulders in a hug. "Do not worry; we can rest here until you can travel. Then we can show the world both you and Jasmine." Alec said Elizabeth nodded and looked back down at Jasmine, who yawned and was slowly closing her eyes. "Don't worry Jasmine; daddy will protect you from everything," Alec promised as he watched his young daughter.

A few days had passed since Jasmine was born. Both she and Elizabeth were growing stronger. Alec realized that soon, they would have to leave this remote area. Sooner or later, Damien would send men looking for them. For some reason, Damien was just as worried as Alec when Elizabeth disappeared. Alec couldn't understand, but he was sure it was only because he was worried about Alec's mate. Alec sighed as he stood out on the moonlit porch.as he stared out into the forest, a pair of arms wrapped around him from behind. Turning his head a little he found Elizabeth wrapped her arms around him, burying her face into his back.

"Where is Jasmine?" He asked. "Sleeping finally, I saw you were looking so lonely, so I came to join you." She answered, finally taking her face from his back. Alec calmly, remover her arms, then pulled her, so she was standing in front of him. He carefully buried his face into her neck to breath her scent in. "Do you know how much I missed this scent?" He whispered. "I missed you too, Alec." Elizabeth answered, "I'm even more thrilled that you have given me a healthy little girl. Someday she will make a male happy, however, right now we must focus on raising her right." Alec said. "I am sure that we can manage to raise Jasmine right, after all with the both of us, we can't go wrong," Elizabeth said, pulling him into a hug.
