"Aww, look Cardin, she's crying!" My body trembled as I sat in the corner, they were all surrounding me. Cardin Winchester and his gang of bullies. They've been after me since 2nd grade, when dad got elected as new governor of the town. Mom told me that they were just boys, that "boys will be boys". I felt another stone hit my leg. I knew it would leave another bruise that I'd have to cover up. "Come on girl, we just wanna play!" Cardin said. "S-s-stop" I stuttered out. "Blake?" "Whoa dude, she speaks!" one of Cardin's goons said. "Huh? She speaks?" I heard footsteps coming closer to me. "Blake?!" I felt his grip on the back of my neck as he forced me to look up at him. "You wanna say that again b***h?" "BLAKE!" I quickly sat up and looked around, my breath hitched as I tried grabbing a hold of my surroundings. "Blake, sweetie?" My eyes finally landed on a figure in the doorway and I let out a sigh as I realized it was just my mom. She frowned at me. "What's wrong sweetheart? Are you okay? Did you have another nightmare? You know, I can always call Dr. Ruiz to-" "N-NO!" I interrupted. "I-I'm okay" I said shakily. She looked at me for a second longer before nodding her head slowly. "Alright, well it's time to get ready for school." I nodded at her and she hesitantly left the room. I sighed once again before rolling out of bed. I began my morning routine: taking a quick shower, brushing my hair out and my teeth, then putting a black bow in my hair. "Blake? You're going to be late for school!" mom yelled out from downstairs. I rolled my eyes as I grabbed my jacket and quickly headed downstairs. I checked the time on my phone and say that I had about 30 minutes until school actually started. "You're going to have to walk to school again, your father already left and I'm about to be late for work if I don't leave right now" she said as she threw packets of papers into her bag. "OH! And don't forget to greet the neighbor's nieces. He told me they'd be arriving early today, maybe you can invite them over later, have a little hangout with your friends" she suggested as she grabbed her keys. I said nothing as I picked up my backpack and books. Mom walked towards the door, her keys dangling as she walked. "See you later Blake, I'll be home in time to make dinner for everyone!" The sound of the door slamming echoed, causing me to flinch at the loud noise. I checked the time once again and saw I still had time before school started. I sighed once more and made my way out the door. I turned around to lock it but then my keys fell. I let out a small groan before bending down and picking them up. "Where are you going!?" A man yelled out. "Where do you think old man? I'm not allowed to go anywhere else!" someone else yelled. "Can we stop yelling?" Another voice came. I looked next door and saw it was our neighbor Mr. Branwen and two girls. One had red hair and wore a red hoodie while the other was a blonde what wore ripped black jeans and a bright yellow shirt with a lack leather jacket over it. They must be the niece's mom was talking about. "Yeah listen to your sister Yang" Mr. Branwen said as he glared at the blonde. "Uncle Qrow, would you please, for the love of God, stop before Yang has another episode!" the red head said as she pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. Mr. Branwen reached into his shirt and pulled out a flask from his pocket, taking a swig from it before talking again. "You say that as if the last one was my fault, you wanna blame someone? Blame firecracker over there" he said, then took another swig. "You're drunk Qrow. Maybe you should go back to sleep before you get yourself hurt" The blonde said. I watched as she glared at him for a second longer then turned and walked over to a black and yellow motorcycle. She picked up a helmet and placed it over her head before getting on the bike. I heard mumbles from Mr. Branwen before he stepped back in his house and slammed the door. The red head girl shook her head and walked over to the blonde onthe bike. I quickly turned and locked the door and started heading down the driveway. "Please Yang? I'm getting a ride from Penny, so don't worry" I heard the red haired girl say. I began to walk the opposite direction of the two with my mind running with thoughts. I wonder if they go to my school. They know Penny Polendina so they must go to my school. I heard the sound of a motor starting behind me as I continued to walk. I held my books close to my chest as I felt the rumbling of the bike behind me. My thoughts, once again, began to wonder as I blocked out the world around me. Who are they? When will I meet them? Who is she? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Yang! Stop!" "You're gonna kill him!!" "Please STOP!" My eyes shot open and I gasped for air as I tried to sit up. I immediately stopped as I received a sharp pain on my side. I winced and groaned as I held the injured spot. "You okay?" I took a deep breath before opening my eyes again and looking at her with a faint smile. "Yeah. I'm okay Ruby. Just had another dream" I said as I slowly stood from my bed. "the same one?" she asked concerned. I nodded as I slowly made my way over to the dresser and pulled out some clothes for the day. I turned around and suddenly felt arms wrap around me. I inhaled sharply through my nose as I rested my head on top of hers. "It's gonna be okay Yang" she said softly. "It was only an accident." "Some accident." Ruby let go of me and we both looked over to the door where our uncle, Qrow, stood with flask in hand. He took a drink from it before speaking again. "Tell me, Ruby, is inflicting pain on someone intentionally an accident or is it a crime?" he asked. I balled my hands into fists as I felt my body begin to heat up. "Yang, no." Ruby looked at me for a second before looking back at Qrow. "We don't need this right now Qrow, just go back to sleep, please" she said. He snickered, rolling his eyes and leaving the room. Ruby and I got ready for school, making sure to grab everything we needed before heading out. Just as we were about to step outside, Qrow called out. "Where are you going!?" I rolled my eyes as I continued walking, hearing Ruby's footsteps close "Where do you think old man? I'm not allowed to go anywhere else!" I answered, raising my voice a bit. I turned around and saw Ruby stop in her tracks and turn to Qrow. "Uncle Qrow, would you please, for the love of God, stop before Yang has another episode!" she said, her voice quivering a bit. Qrow glared at her. "You say that as if the last one was my fault, you wanna blame someone? Blame firecracker over there" he spat, then took a swig from his flask. I gritted my teeth at the sight of him drunk again. "You're drunk Qrow. Maybe you should go back to sleep before you get yourself hurt" I stated before I started making my way over to my bike. I picked up my helmet and heard the door slamming behind me followed by Ruby's quick footsteps. "Don't let him get to you Yang, we know what happened that day" she said softly. I said nothing as I stared at my palms. They started bleeding from the way i was digging my nails into them. "Please go to school. Please Yang? I'm getting a ride from Penny, so don't worry" she said, placing her hand on my shoulder. I nodded, putting my helmet on and starting my bike. The bike roared to life and a familiar voice came to my ears. "Hello Yang" my auto helmet said. Before Ruby and I had moved, I customized this helmet to talk and give me directions to any place I wanted. "Hey Bee" I said back with a small smile. "Would you like me to direct you to the closest bar?" it asked. Did I mention it also memorized where my favorite bars were? "No Bee, not today. Show me directions to Beacon High" I said. A map appeared in front of me followed by a yellow line that guided me. I revved the engine a few times before releasing the breaks and driving off. I hope today doesn't end
