The seventh night part 2

629 Words
The doorknob stopped turning. It was 3:01 AM. Silence. Zain was breathing so hard he thought his chest would burst. His phone light was the only thing in the room. Then his phone buzzed. Same unknown number. `You survived Night 7. But the door is still open.` Zain ran to the main door. The lock was broken. Outside: Nothing. Only fog. And the graveyard gate was still open. He slammed the door and put a chair against it. *Next Morning* Zain went to the police. "Sir, a girl is coming to my house every night at 3 AM." The inspector looked bored. "Beta, new house? New area? It's just stress." "But she knows my name! And today is the 7th night!" "7th night of what?" Zain froze. He didn't know. The inspector sighed. "Go home. If something happens, call 15." *That Evening - The Landlord Came* "Why did you call police?" the old landlord asked. Zain told him everything. The knocking. The voice. The 7th night message. The landlord's face went pale. "You... you stayed 7 nights?" "Yes. What does it mean?" The landlord sat down. His hands were shaking. "20 years ago. This house belonged to a man named Faraz." "He was engaged to a girl. Her name was Mehak." "3 days before the wedding, Mehak disappeared. They found her body in the graveyard. 7 stab wounds." "Who killed her?" "No one knows. But before she died, she wrote 7 letters. To her groom." "She said: 'If you love me, come to our house for 7 nights. At 3 AM. And on the 7th night, I will be waiting.'" Zain felt sick. "But I'm not Faraz." "Doesn't matter," the landlord whispered. "The curse doesn't look for names. It looks for men who live alone in this house. For 7 nights." "And on the 7th night... she takes one of them with her." Zain laughed nervously. "But I survived. It's 3:01 AM and I'm alive." The landlord stood up to leave. At the door he said: "Beta... check your phone again. The message said 'The door is still open.' It didn't say the 7 nights are over." *Night 8 - 2:59 AM* Zain didn't sleep. He put cameras everywhere. _Tok. Tok. Tok._ But this time the voice was different. It was his own voice. "Zain... open the door... it's me..." Zain looked at the CCTV. Outside the door... was him. Same shirt. Same face. Same hair. But his eyes were completely black. Fake-Zain smiled. "You made 7 promises in your sleep, Zain. Don't you remember?" "I didn't make any promises!" "Yes you did," Fake-Zain said. "Every night at 3 AM. In your dreams. Promise 1: I will listen. Promise 2: I will not be afraid. Promise 3: I will open the door. Promise 4: I will believe you. Promise 5: I will come to the graveyard. Promise 6: I will say your name. Promise 7: I will come with you." Zain shook his head. "No. That's not me." Fake-Zain put his hand on the door. From the inside. "Then who is this, Zain?" The camera showed Zain's bedroom. And standing behind Zain's bed... was the real Zain. Asleep. Zain looked down at his own body. He was standing outside the door. The girl's voice came from everywhere now. "Thank you for keeping all 7 promises, Zain. Now come. The wedding is waiting." The chair fell. The door opened. Zain tried to scream but no sound came out. Fake-Zain grabbed his hand. His hand was ice cold. They walked together. Out of the house. Into the graveyard. To grave number 7. On the tombstone: *MEHAK KHAN* *"Waiting for her Groom - Night 7"* The soil opened. --- *END OF PART 2* *TO BE CONTINUED IN PART 3: "GRAVE NO. 7"*
