Janessa's POV
The rejection email glared at me like it knew it had won.
I can’t believe this. After working twice as hard, submitting every damn document to the gods of bureaucracy- what do I get?
A rejection.
**“Application disapproved: Additional experienceeference, minimum of six months from a recognized company required before approval can be granted.”
What the hell?
I covered my mouth with my hands. Heart thudding painfully, tears blurring my vision.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I muttered, getting up from behind my table.
Tripping on a charger, I fell to my knees- laptop slipping to the ground and documents scattering.
“All this work… for what? A stupid formality?!”
I crawled to my bed, curling into a ball. Willing my chest to relax.
