Liv
“I’m gonna go off to the library.”
His eyes widen as the words flow out my mouth. “Elizabeth. No. I thought..” I cup his face, embracing them in a kiss.
I saw his eyes drifted off. When I pulled back they came back to me. Slowly. He still had those foggy hues of pain.
“It’s not like that okay. There’s some stuff about being Luna and leading wolves that I just been avoiding. Even the Luna Clara. But now I’m here to stay no matter what. So I got to go and learn a few things. It’s nothing to worry.”
He grabs my hands to bring towards their lips. Gracing each tip. “Are you certain it’s not about us and you plan to leave again? Because I can’t take it.”
I see a flash spark and Malcolm answers. He has been more present and I sense his pull.
“I’m certain my Sweet Wolf.”
“Then I guess we shall resume back to life. But I’m coming with.” I nod in agreement.
Meeting the library doors his eyes turn gray. Quickly he was linked. “f**k. I don’t want to leave you alone.”
“I’ll be fine. I’m not gonna run off. Okay.” I look him deep in the eyes. It took a second but he finally just huff a sure. I didn’t say anything. He has a right to react such way.
“I’ll have someone keep you company.” Babysitter?.
“Well then if Mason is free have him meet me...” I see his eyes darken and a soft growl releases. I don’t know why. I thought he grew out of this jealousy s**t.
“Sarah will attend your needs. Her duties are restrain.”
“But..”
Before I can argue he pecks my lips and runs off. Well not run but stomped angrily away. I pay no mind and just headed in.
I only had a good 20 minutes in until I pause. I had my binder with me as I look through my dream innocently. I had a list of everything set for the Wedding and Luna Ceremony.
Yet from my mistake and failure we can not marry until Winter. I didn’t want to be in the snow and all. So I think I had to rethink and we may go with Travis’s dream of a church Wedding. It’ll be too cold and the indoors will be best. I know it means a lot to his heritage and I know he already had a beautiful vision.
So I scatter through my things to make sure we have a plan. If we haven’t already thought out a plan B before. Now we do.
In the nose deep I hear an unwelcoming female voice stomping her bitchy way to me.
“So you are here! Where the hell have you been that you left that animal in charge of us!”
“You are an adult Cherry. Leave if you want. But don’t expect a welcoming party when you see yourself thrown out again.”
I turn and move pass her. Throwing a small paper away. “Stay. Leave. I don’t care. But there’s rules and you will obey by them.”
“Stay? How can we stay here. You are not fit to run anyone. You are blinded by those things. Do you not see what these werewolves are doing. Taking advantage of us and you’re letting them. Sage will never..”
“We do not say her name here!” I growl so loud the building shakes.
“You are being use.” Cherry cross her arms. I see her clench her body to herself.
I no longer bite my tongue. I suck my teeth to her assumption. “What if I’m using them?”
“How can you. You are weak. Nothing has change over the years.” She laugh at me.
I walk my way to her and get right in her face. Grinning to her. “Still a jealous b***h I see.”
“You took me away from my family! My friends.! My mate you b***h!” Her lips quiver.
I tilt around her and snuff her air. “You are unmated. Possible for years to come. Girls like you don’t get rewarded out of pity.”
Again I grin mischievously at her. I look up and see the hurt in her face. Her expression was over do and so delicious to see. I hear the blood in her pumping and I crave for it.
“Good Cherry. Obey.” I walk away as she stomps towards me. I turn and sigh knowing she wanted the last words.
Doing so Cherry had her one good strike to my face. Her palm makes a hard hit. And I keep my face blank as I adore her childlike fit.
In just the right time. Gamma walks in and pulls Cherry’s hair. Dragging her up a bookshelf. She holds Cherry up by her throat.
“Hold her!” I instructed.
“She is trouble. She hit you Luna. Let me take care of her.” Gamma bares her teeth. Ready to rip into Cherry whom sobs in fear.
“No. Let her go.” I tap Gamma’s shoulder. Clear reasons she didn’t want to. But as I am soon to be Luna she listen and does as I say.
Cherry whimpers to the pain in her throat. “See, I told you. Lose temper. All of them.” She cries victim.
Taking over Gamma’s spot, I face Cherry who pushes her back more against the shelf. I run my hand over her face and drag a sharp nail down.
“You are a lose temper Cherry. Last warning.” Slicing her throat but not as deep as I wanted to. I lick the blood off and hiss to the taste. Cherry shakes under her skin and runs out in fear.
I couldn’t help but laugh in the enjoyment of it. I enjoy this personality. I was tired of being this weak vulnerable person. I have to believe she died a long time again. And begin living as this new one.
“Luna you shouldn’t of let her go so easily.”
“Easy.” I laugh. “Cherry is my problem and I’ll deal with her. Next out burst won’t be like this Gamma.” I explain.
Sarah was concern. I see that. But it wasn’t her problem. I willingly brought Cherry here.
“You can’t be certain she’ll always..”
“I’m aware of what she has done Gamma. Thank you but as I told Alpha, I’m fine. You can leave now.” I go to turn my back to her.
I didn’t need this s**t from her too. My mate was enough.
Taking my seat, I feel Gamma still standing behind me. I sigh heavily to her.
“Alpha will be here soon. He said to wait for his arrival.”
I held back from yelling at her. I know it wasn’t fully towards her. “You didn’t have to..”
“Of course I did.” She said with a strict tone. All I did was nod and continue my work as if she wasn’t there.
Just a few minutes in, Travis comes in the library and up the third floor. Gamma leaves as soon as he arrived. And I see right away he was more than piss.
“What the hell happen?!”
“Cherry drama. That’s all.” I stated.
“That’s all? She f*****g hit you and you just let her walk out with no consequence?”
“Ohh she’ll get her consequence.” Giving him a side-eye.
“A slap on the wrist is not a consequence. You are a Luna and such act is not accept.” I’m aware of his reasons and his anger towards me. But he does not know the full story. Plus. I’m over it. Her s**t has run out.
“Cherry is a misfit and I can handle her. I have been handling her!” I stood up to take my little dominate.
“She’s more than a misfit!” He step closer to grip the edge of the table. I only sigh to his little euphemism of me.
“After today there’ll be no more. Next time there’ll be no more. If she’s smart, she’ll start to act right from today.” I sigh as I rest my hand over their chest. A small glow beams through my hand. His hand grips mine to the warmth it gave. “She’ll just face the same act she did before.”
“Before? So she’s been a problem?” He ask with a deep v eyebrow expression.
“Yes, she has.” I nod to him.
He squeeze my hand. Not hard. Just enough to tell me he didn’t understand why I took her in. “Then why the f**k is she here?”
“Upon my arrival and Sage’s death, she was being kick out of the coven.”
He looked at me so displeased. “Why the hell did you accepted her here if she was kicked out?” I try walking away but he caught me. “Why did they kick her out? Why bring her here only to meet her faith again?” He ask with a gentle tone. I watch his lips spoke those words as if this wasn’t news before. But I have never told him about her.
“She actively attack hatred towards her own. Not only that. She tried to post claim her death. Because she fail one of her witches task to our Ancestors.”
“Task?”
I smile as I see he hasn’t read up on his witches lectures.
I remove my hand from them, only to take a seat. I pull out the chair near for him to sit with. “There are many task given for you to take. All tasks must be done in order to be bless and given an gift.
*First Task is done when you can walk. Small and easy.
*Second Task. Once you are of age for lessons. You are to preform a prayer to your Ancestors. It shows your faith and welcome.
*Third Task is done when you turn 10. You are set off to the woods. Needing to be guided through with your belief. If you don’t make it. Then it shows your enable ability for magic. Some says your trail can effect your outcome. But who knows.
*Forth Task is the hardest. Just like the third. You are left in the woods. Just this time. You have 24hours. The Ancestors will put you through obstacles. Leading you out the woods to home. This helps to give you a gift once you’re 18.
“The girl was only at her third. Yet the Third Task is a training guide for the forth. Its outcome is meant to trick you. Cherry is a mean girl. She slander that child. And for that. Her family turn on her. Mainly because it was her sister she slander.”
Travis lean in. He shook his head just slightly to my explanation. “Why bring her here though?”
With naive eyes, “Because she looked hurt. Like I was.”
I felt bad. But now I learn not to. I should of put my emotions aside. It won’t happen again.
I go to look away but he brings my face back to him. His eyes glow with sympathy. I gasp to our connection. I miss this and more.
“How did you complete your tasks?” Still locking eyes.
“My parents knew I was close to Madam Grace. She took me in and helped me. I went to her when I was 10. Same when I turn 13 for my Forth Task. I lied and said I was staying at Connie’s. Instead, Madam Grace took me to complete my task. It was hell. But I made it. The one thing was. Each task you needed a spirit. Everyone had the Ancestors. I only had the Moon Goddess. I never pray or ask the Ancestors during my task. Which is why I never wanted a party when I turn 18. I didn’t think I will be given a gift because I didn’t worship the Ancestors like I was told.”
“But you did? You were gifted a rare and extraordinary gift.” His thumb ran down my chin.
“I know. I’m grateful. Yet I don’t how it was so.” I still don’t.
He grabs my chair and brings it closer. I shake my head as I sense a speech from him. “Travis please, I don’t need you to pity me. We are forgetting the past.” I tilt my head and beg him to not start.
His chest falls as did his eyes. “It’s not that baby. I won’t ever pity you.”
I held my eyes to him. And all my emotion breaks down. I smile to him as he runs his thumb over my hand. That grip for life.
“You always have the upper hand. Even with us. Just don’t forget you are not them. You are a Luna baby. Walk with that. It fits you.”
I nod to them. I couldn’t say much when I just came back. I must learn from now I can’t let my walls fall so easily. With that I’m just taking in the news of it all. I take all the responsibilities and repercussions of mating with my Alpha.
“Enough with the books. Let’s eat.” He suggested as he leans to the side and close my large binder.
“Okay.” I smile half hearted at him.
I noted later to at least go over the finally details with Travis. My mates overly enjoy the talk. They plan a surprise trip after we marry and I couldn’t wait.
The rest of the week has been flying by. Things resume and even felt better. No trouble of any kind.
Good right?
Ring Ring
I take out my phone. I feel Malcolm hovering as I pick it up in a flash. “Hey what’s up?”
“Liv you need to get to downtown, fast.”
I look up at Travis who met my confusion. “What happen? Are you okay?”
“Yeah yeah I’m fine.” Connie brushes off. “It’s not me..”
“Then who?” Clenching my fist tightly to the phone.
“It’s the humans Liv. I was shopping and I notice an odd group of them meeting by those old buildings.”
I sigh to Connie’s minor concern. “Connie that’s not a reason for me to come. And aren’t you suppose to be home.”
Her tone rose a bit at my motherly. “Shopping helps okay!”
I see in my view Travis rolled his eyes.
“It’s not just any humans. It was the Mayor, Governor, the Chief, the Sergeant and some other person.” Connie adds.
“That’s not good.” Travis whispers.
“I follow the Chief and Sergeant to where they headed to some underground building. I heard them saying something about cutting off the breeds. I hid and then a few others came by. I heard your name and one of them jokily threaten you.”
Travis’s glare tighten and I knew he wanted blood for what they said. I grab his hand to ease his anger. I don’t think it help.
“You got to get down here. I have a bad feeling.”
Sucking up my nerves. I nod to my mate who knew better. “We’re coming. Stay hidden Connie.”
“I’ll be across the street. The old paper shop.”
I hang up quick and both Travis and I headed downtown to meet Connie. When we arrived the streets where lowly crowded. Hardly any cars parked up on this sides. It was empty. As should the buildings here.
“Okay, you girls stay here and I’ll..”
I turn quick and gave Travis a hard glare. “No. I’m not a sideline wife. If their meeting is about all of us.I’m coming with and you can’t say anything about it.”
“Me too.”Connie wraps her arm over mine and the both of us gave Travis a look.
He looks us both timidly. And quickly he knew he couldn’t win. “Fine but if things get ugly..”
“I can deal with them.Their gather is mainly because of me. And we have a say on what happens. They’re not cutting us off without a fight.” I say.
He nods and all three of us head over.
I stop close by the railing. Looking over the hidden entrance. I listen out. The voices muffle but I softly hear them speak of witches, werewolves, hybrid, vampires, and ceasing grounds.
One by one we all walk over the gate and quietly walk down the stairs. I feel for the door and it was unlock. Listing close again, the voices were still soften.
Travis looks over the small window on the far left side. He sees nothing and says it’s clear.
I turn the nob and we enter the building. Right away we see no one. We all remain quite as we walk slowly through. Travis takes the lead and we follow towards the voices. Getting closer we meet a wooden barn door.
We all nod in an agreement and Connie using a simple spell to open the doors. All three of us walk in with our heads held high.
All the humans jump in shock and a few had fear read across their faces. Others had more than an obvious hatred eye.
“This is a private meeting! Your kind is not welcome!” The Sergeant shouted.
In quick view I see the Sergeant, Chief, Mayor, Governor, Lieutenant, the Dean, and some agent looking lady.
Quick run down. The Sergeant is some military guy the Mayor and Governor gets secret weapons and so forth. The Chief runs his mouth about what he sees in the city in all departments. That includes hospitals reports too. The Dean oversees the new comings and reports concern and whatever mischief he hears or see. The Lieutenant is just a big guy who runs the patrols. The lady, no clue. She may be a realtor which means she knows when more of the other supernaturals are seen to move in. Which is a problem to everyone.
“Apologies. Our invitations were lost in the mail.” I fakely pouted.
We walk in and take the head of the table. We don’t sit but stand.
“That’s because we didn’t send one to you.” The Dean says.
“You are not needed in every meeting we approach. We can handle the problem.” The Governor says with his eyes narrow down to me.
I hum as I pull the chair out. Taking my seat, Travis pushes it in. Crossing my legs, I watch every single snake eyes.
“See what I was saying. These things have no respect. They’re all becoming a loose thread. We can..”
“Shut up!” The Chief yells at the Sergeant.
“You folks can’t just waltz in as if you own the place. If it was import we would of called.” Said the Mayor.
“Maybe so but you folks have been overly chatty, hasn’t you?” I say with a brow.
“Don’t forget we have an agreement. You witches need to be control and we figure how.” I hear a small threat in the Dean.
“Any time your werewolves get trigger, someone ends up in the hospital. It’s making a scene.” The Chief argues.
“On top of you two kinds, it has lead the others to run free and make major chaos over town. The lakes aren’t even clear anymore. We shut down site because of your relentless behavior.” Said the lady.
“There can be one footing and you all have run to bull. It’s enough!” Yelled the Lieutenant.
“If I were you I’ll learn to watch my mouth before I speak. You folks have no abstract to the real world.”Travis snarl at them.
“See!” The Sergeant stands to his feet. “At any moment he will reach at any of us to kill. It’s enough!”
“We have an agreement.” The Chief tells him. But the Sergeant wasn’t listening.
“No she comes here thinking she can talk us down. That us humans are the weak point here. For as long as I knew these things never even f*****g existed. We should go back to the old days!”
“Ohh shut up before you ruin things. We’re not replaceable. They need us.” The Governor smirks at me with a rising glass of liquor.
Travis’s hand stays at my shoulder with a tight grip. I pat him down with spark of our bond.
“No! At some point they’re gonna f**k it up. And I’m done for it. We do something now!”
I laugh loudly at the Sergeant’s remark. “Do it Sergeant. Be a man your father said you’ll never be.”
Right away I see I hit a soft spot and he rose to a high stands. He took a step and the Chief tries to hold him back.Bickering he grabs the Chief’s gun and in one move his finger pulls the trigger and aims at me.
Next thing I knew everyone at the table gasp in full beautifully shock expressions. I held my hand up.Catching the bullet as if it were a fly.
“How the f**k?” The Chief says.
“Well damn you wolves evolved.”The Governor snicker with a curl lip.
“You see, you have no sense of what’s out there. We only allow you to see what we want you to. And in our real, we keep it private. You humans don’t appreciate what we’d done.” I said.
“They seem to be the loose end Luna.” Connie comments and I couldn’t agree more.
“Wait you’re a wolf?I thought you were a witch Ms. Marshall?”The Mayor ask with a fear look.
“You see.I befriend all. Humans.” I twist my hand to palm the bullet.
“Witches.”Connie easily display a blue flame on her finger as if she’s a match. “Wolves.” Travis’s eyes flicker. “I can control them all.” I show how easily I grasp the wolf shift from Travis. Sticking his form partly. A few members scoot their chairs away. Afraid Travis will attack. Once I gave him the control to stay as human. I turn my hand behind and a little flame dances to me. Changing elements. I play as I allow it to run through the table. I flick my finger and it spreads. Bouncing over in many directions. I flick my finger up and it lights the room in little stars that fall.
“And you see in my view of your little mind we go free as we will. But f**k with us and you’ll regret it. Worst if you make someone who isn’t just a witch.” I giggle as I hold the bullet up and it floats over. My eyes turn red as my fangs show. I slide my tongue over each one.
“It’s true. You’re her. The witch, vampire?” The lady ask. I smile and nod.
“Title please. Luna will be fine.” I let a mischievous look and they express differently.
Yet the Sergeant still held his hatred. Giving one more mouth. “You are all making an army! You can’t do that. Your God or Goddess won’t allow it.” His jaw tick twice. “You listen hybrid we will find a way and..”
Before he finish. I swing my hand forward and the bullet graze the Sergeant and curves to kill the Governor who won’t stop gawking his eyes at me.
“What the hell! We weren’t gonna do s**t. Now what are we gonna do when you killed..!”
“Ohh sit and shut the f**k up already.” Connie shouted as she brings the Sergeant’s chair towards him. Making him sit closely to the table. He is unable to move a muscle now.
“From what I hear there’s an election next month. Just don’t let him get involve too. From now I’ll assist his role.” I grab my cup and ask Travis to pour a few drops of Governor for me.
Doing so,humans holds tight their chairs. Returning he kisses my cheek.I smile and swirl the blood in my drink.
“It’s best there’s less dullness in your secret Council.” Connie adds.
I take a large sip of my drink.Finishing it all. I hum in agreement.
“This isn’t dictatorship.” I started.
“Then what is this?” The Chief asked
“It’s dominance. Something your kind has always fail at. But lucky for you.I’m willing to be a helping line if so.” My brow lifted.“Just keep things in a wrap or else. You folks are replaceable.” I wink and the glory of their faces spark joy in me.
“We don’t need you folks. We can all part. It worked for centuries.” Snicker the Sergeant.
“Now let’s not start something. We can work something out.”The Lieutenant says.
“All these supernaturals you so easily want to get rid of had some kind of purpose before you knew. And even after you call us. Yes we had wrong. As did you.But in the face of death and bigger balls. You call upon us and we openly worked something out.” I explain.
“And we thank any kind that helped. Another war would happen if we hadn’t.”The Lieutenant points out.
“Yes, exactly.”I sat upright and place my arms over my chest.
“Things are just different.A lot has change. We need time Luna.”The Mayor had a pleading voice on her.
“Oh I completely understand. We don’t want to disturb your world peace.”I chuckle.
“That’s not what she meant. It’s getting hard to obtain some misfits.”
I hum to the Dean’s words.“Well then.” I push my chair back and Travis helps.I stand and carry my body well.
“I can step aside. As the rest of us will. You fall, it’s on you.Don’t allow us to be you fallacy. But..” I hold my hand up.Thinking in my mind what will happen truthfully. “If I walk out here and the word gets out.A lot of these bad misfits, free rogue, creatures of all kinds won’t be so nice. But who’s to say other things from the darkness won’t take their chances. Our phone line won’t be open. Your ends are your own.” I still held the glass in my hand. At the end of my talk I shatter the glass. Making everyone jump at the thought of being completely isolated to the reality.
“Fine.”The Dean looked over everyone. “We agree.”
“Good. Bless day folks.”Travis and Connie follows behind as we strive our way out.
Waking out. I couldn’t help this amazing feeling that burst inside of me. I never held such power. And it felt so good.
“Oh my God girl. You totally own that s**t. They almost s**t their pants.”Connie cheers.
“I couldn’t agree more.”Travis graze my fingers. And I begin to blush.
“I couldn’t have done it without you two.Your presences and cooperation helped” I thank them.
“Of course bitch.I wouldn’t want to miss that jaw dropping crap ever.”
I reach for Connie and hug her tight. And quickly an idea pops in my head.It seem right and I know Travis and Malcolm would agree with me.
“Connie, you’ve been a great sister and an amazing support.I want to offer you a chance to move to Luna Clara and be a head Third Degree. You make the calls.”
Connie search to see if I bluff. “I can’t. That’s your job.”
“Yes, but it doesn’t mean I don’t need help from a very trusting friend.”I cross my fingers.
“Liv thanks but my nursing school is just starting.”She lets go of my hand and I see she fights the idea.
“You don’t have to now.The witches are just anxious about everything.I can do it. But it’ll be nice to load off a little on someone else. You can even have a job at the clinic or hospital if you choose. Don’t stop your life because of me. I trust you. You’re more than family and an ally. And after today. I need you Connie.” Travis walks behind me. Squeezing my shoulders.I grab both his hands and I sense he understood.
“It would be nice to have you more around annoying Mason and the other wolves.Plus we party a lot.” Travis adds with a smirk.
Connie looks at us both.Waiting for her answer I see her biting her inner cheek. “Okay Luna. I’ll do it.Because I love you.”
I jump and push Travis off of me.“Yay. I can’t wait.”
I know it may be a lot to ask for.But I know she’ll do great. It will help my stress ever so much. And I know it will please my mate to know I haven’t overwhelm myself with so much like I have been.
I’m learning to trust and delicate.
