It Wasn't Time To Go

Mason's Point Of View I woke up and did my chores and showered. This was my daily schedule. I was hoping that today would be the day I get adopted. I was excited when adults entered the room. Me, a six year old, might actually have a family today. But then that would mean I would have to leave my one and only friend behind. Poor Mara. I was going to miss him if I left. I walk over to mine and Mara's normal meeting spot, which was by the toy cars. I stand there and watch the adults talk as I wait for Mara. Mara's Point Of View I just got out the shower, hearing adults I never heard before. I walk out the bathroom and I see two nice couples. I then look around for Mason. I smile as I see him in our meeting spot. I walk over and wave at him. "Hi Mason!" he said with a grin. I am a year and three months older than Mason. That means I'm seven. I grabbed two big bags of candy, and I hand one to Mason. Nobody's Point Of View Mason smiles widely as he took the bag of candy. "Do you know who is getting adopted out today?" Mara shakes his head. "I think both of us. We are the only kids here and there are two couples out there...But I really hope at least you get a mommy and daddy. I don't mind it here." Mason nods and looks at the couples. "Maybe we both will finally have a family." He smiles at the thought. Mrs. Honly, the owner of the Orphanage walked over to the boys. "You boys having fun?" she asked with a slight sad smile. Both of the boys nod. She hugged both of them. "Go pack your things. Both of you have families now. I am going to miss you both so very much. It's like you were my family too." She wiped away a tear that was falling down her cheeks. Both of the boys give her a kiss on the cheek and run off to their now old shared room, and packed everything that they owned. After they packed, they ran over to Mrs. Honly. They gave her a hug, and another kiss on the cheek. She smiles a bit trying not to cry as the two sweet, loving boys went off into two new homes.
