“Ashley you ever think about getting out of here?”
Sam said to me during lunch, “I mean it’s not like we need to stick around like our parents.” He said picking at peas in his tray.
“Sam you know how many good ideas you come up with in a day?” I respond in sarcasm. I wasn’t truly listening since my head was in a book. All these honor classes make you like that, constantly reading, constantly doing homework or essays.
“Haha very funny!” He retorts back at me. I look up at him with half a smile, his eyes meet mine. Those eyes of his were unique they were blue and green with specs of gold. His hair tickling his eyelashes.
“Why don’t you get a hair cut Sam?” I say closing my book and pulling my tray closer to me, “You’re starting to look like a blonde Justin Bieber.”
His smile dropped slightly and jaw fell all in one smooth motion.
“Words hurt Ashley!”
“Just like when I throw this book at you.” I giggle so does he. I start to think about what my dad said and how often Sam hangs around me. Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad thing to spend more time with him outside of school since he doesn’t mind me with my face deep in school books.
“Sam.” I say sheepishly, I could feel my face get hot, “do you want to hang out after school today?” I get nervous and swirl spaghetti noodles around my fork.
“Um.. yeah.. sure.” His response made me nervous so I blurt out, “if not that’s okay. I mean I have so much homework anyways.”
“No I’d like to, just never thought you’d ask I guess. I’ve only been trying to hang out for 2 years now!” He says as he throws a pea from his fork at me.
“Hey! Don’t do that!” I laugh, my nerves start to calm down, my face starts to cool down, “I’ll meet you at my locker last bell and we can go do something. I just need to drop my bag off at home before we go anywhere.” Sam stands up quickly with his tray, the excitement radiating from his body.
“Okay! See you then!”
