"Clear up your ideas, you say?" I exclaim. When I see the other man is unaffected by my reaction, I feel discouraged. "Mm-hmm," Bunn has a coughing fit after answering my question. He is staring at a sheet of paper in his left hand, a pen in the other. We are in the car, which was heading towards the city. Bunn, sitting in the passenger seat next to me, is totally engrossed in the list of names and details of the people involved in this case. "Not because you wanted to… I mean, that you wanted to sleep with me because you… you love me?" "s*x is not love." Bunn turns to me, his face impassive. "Drive." I return to the road, obeying him, His take on the concept of s*x is cruel and simple—just like Bunn, in fact. What we did in the bedroom of this house is replaying in my head. I just can't get it out of my mind. I hate the way he makes me lose my mind and then becomes cold to me like nothing ever happened when he's done. "Well, like you said yourself I knocked you down." "If you say that, I'll blow your head off and get rid of the body." Something tells me he wasn't kidding. "How can you shoot me? I'm at a disadvantage. You kissed me. You exposed me to your cold. It's considered a health risk you know?" "Then I hope you get septic shock. I won't bother giving you cardiac massage and your heart will stop." Bunn blows before drawing a circle on the paper, I can't see what he is doing exactly. "I'm wondering if we should disclose that Pert is still alive. We will then look for the evidence to prove that he killed Jane to send her to jail. Even though the police are involved, I trust that they will not deny the obvious evidence." "What about my father and Paul? If Pert is apprehended, those two will always be a problem for our survival." "Threat, illegal gambling, intimidation, assault and others, you only have to expose the illegal business of this family. And put them in jail." L"That includes me too, doesn't it? I'm Mr. Black, Mr. Odd's right-hand man, remember?" I got this nickname from a bunch of thugs, I usually dress in black to hide my identity when I go about business. family, "I don't think it will be that easy. The bond will be easily paid and the judgment will literally take years to come to a conclusion. And even if they end up in prison, my father or brothers will surely hire someone to kill you." This method is not safe. I give him a quick glance before returning to the road. "Since they used your mother to force you to work for them, you might get away with it, but that doesn't mean they'll let you live." Bunn leans over the headrest, exhausted. "To be honest I have no idea what we should do." Bunn crumples the paper and throws it out the window. He watches the ball of paper fall at his feet. "It's okay, we'll find something. At least you're safe for now, thanks to my plan." I put my hand on his shoulder to show him my support. "But are you going to stay with me?" "Yes." Bunn answers firmly. “For all they know, Bunnakit is dead—a ghost. To kill the tigers, we have to catch them by surprise in their den. Feeling out of the woods, they'll let their guard down." "But it's dangerous..." "I know Tann won't let anything happen to me… right?" My face instantly warms up. My heart almost turned into a puddle on the seat. Bunn changed the pronoun by using my first name Tann in his sentence and I am completely excited. He asks me to protect him. Did I understand right? I don't know why he chose to say it in such a seductive way but one thing is certain: I am irrevocably in love with him. "Good. Of course." "So much better." Bunn turns his gaze to the road. "If you have any ideas then spit it out. We will weigh the pros and the cons until a better plan is found. " I take a few seconds to think. “You mentioned being a ghost earlier. You disguise yourself as a vengeful spirit and haunt Pert and Paul until they do what you want them to do. Tell them they better run away or you'll drag them to hell. or something like that. " Bunn exhales a long breath, annoyed, "Do you think that a ghost will be shielded when he appears in front of them?" Along the way, we discuss our survival plans. Most of the time, I'm the one who makes the proposals since I'm used to my family and I have more information about them when Bun is the one weighing the pros and cons. I buy sticky rice and a local dish on the road, we park under a tree to enjoy our meal. We then buy medicine for the fever that Bunn still had. Finally in town. I park in front of my house, the street is quiet with no sign of pedestrians or vehicles. I turned around to watch Bunn who fell asleep from his fever. “Bunn." I shake him gently to wake him up. "I'll open the gate. You will get out of the car when we are in the garage. Okay?" Bunn opens his eyes weakly. He looks exhausted. "Hmph." Once the car is inside, I quickly guide Bunn to my room before anyone can spot him from outside. Bunn's luggage that he had dropped when he tried to escape was still in the same place. I bend down to pick up his bag and continue to the bedroom. Bunn walks straight to bed where he collapses. He must be so exhausted that he must wish to die right now. "Call Pert. Act normally. Just tell him you came back to town after you buried me somewhere or whatever. And ask him where he is. Lure him. Tell him now the way is free and that there will be no further investigation into Janejira's death." Bunn told me in detail with his eyes closed. "Record your conversation with the other phone. Put it on speakerphone so I can hear it." "Okay." I walk up to the edge of the bed and press the record button on the white smartphone then I dial Pert's number on mine and put it on loudspeaker. Someone answers me quickly as if they were waiting for my call. "Pert..." [Tann,] Pert sounds extremely tired. I wonder who happened to him. [Where is Dr. Bunn ...] My eyes widen in amazement as I turn to Bunn, who immediately sits up. He stares at me nervously and silently encourages me to keep talking, "What do you mean?" [Where is his body? Where did you bury him? Is it the wood behind the warehouse?] His voice sounds very strange. "No, I buried it outside of town in a forest. Father took us there once to see the potential for some land to be rented out to farmers." Of course, I'm lying to him about the whereabouts. [Ah? Did you give him a proper pose before you buried him?] Where is this coming from? "Look, I didn't have time for this. Someone could have seen me." [That's right...] Pert then lets out a cold, bitter laugh. [How did you do it, huh? I didn't know you had that in you, that you were merciless. I understand you've been trained so well that you can do anything now, huh? You can kill someone if asked, right?) I see Bunn's mouth saying silently to me: Play the game. "Yes ... yes, I had to do it. You know I have no choice but to obey Paul's orders. And now you are not at risk of going to jail. Are you not happy? Paul ordered me to get rid of the key witness; there will be no further investigation into Janejira's death." [Do you know why... I wanted you to threaten him?—anything, threatening him with death, torture, rape, whatever I told you!] He starts to scream. [I did it so that he doesn't end up dying like that. When Paul saw that things had got complicated, he had Bunn killed. He wouldn't have died if you had threatened him properly.] I sit still, stunned. I remember then that Pert had only one true friend. I couldn't believe Pert could bond with someone like that. "It was just a matter of time. Paul probably would have had him killed anyway." I hear a sound of frustration coming from Part. [Oh, but I'll kill you for that, you son of a b***h!] He's using that insult on purpose to hurt me. "Pert! Calm down! I just followed orders. What's wrong with you?" I look at Bunn who is staring at the phone. [You took the man I loved from me.] I am speechless, completely stunned. "Woah... what?" My head snaps back to look at Bunn who has wide eyes. He covers his mouth with his hands as if trying not to let any sound slip. [You took him away from me. Paul gave you an order and you followed it... I will kill you.] "I'm not the one who wanted him dead. It's Paul. Why can't you figure it out, f**k!!" My god, it's so hard to follow my half-brother's messy logic. I'm torn between my surprise at Pert's strange behavior and my jealousy coupled with my anger. The man who asked me to hurt Bunn has absolutely no right to declare him his. I clench my fists without realizing it. Anger runs through my body. Bunn must have noticed because the next second he grabs my arms and grips them tightly. He leans into my face and whispers to me, "Calm down." I have to keep in mind that the victory is mine, not his since Bunn is currently by my side. Pert doesn't know Bunn is still alive. "You know what? It's also your fault. You ordered me to beat up Dr Bunnakit; how am I supposed to know he's your best friend? If I had known, I would have waited and sorted things out. f**k you. If you really loved him, why did you hurt him? Why didn't you protect him!?" Bunn pulls on my sleeve forcefully, asking me to stop. [Make me motherfucker?] Too late, I am completely blinded by rage. "You know what, yes! You are a f*****g i***t! You know what? The reason Dr. Bunn ended up like this is all to blame, not mine, not Paul's, it's yours! It is your fault ! If you hadn't killed Jane, Dr. Bunn wouldn't have been killed!!" I don't think my last sentence was heard by Pert because Bunn snatched the phone from me and hung up. "Tann!!" Bunn grabs me by the collar and pulls me towards him. Head down, I stay still and don't resist him. "I said, calm down ! Now we don't know where he is, or when will he be back!!" Bunn let me go abruptly, trying to calm down by taking a deep breath. There's one thing that bothers me: Bunn's reaction when Pert mentioned he loved him. "Bunn. You love Pert, don't you?" I take a breath. Please don't say 'yes'. I beg to myself that he denies it, but nothing comes. Only silence remains. My heart, on the other hand, is trampled and torn to pieces on the ground. Bunn stares at me before continuing. "Whether I like it or not, isn't really the issue now. Pert doesn't want me dead. We could use that against your older brother." Bunn is very calm, his train of thought continues to run through his mind, unlike me. My brain is currently overwhelmed by a flood of negative emotions. “It seems Pert and Paul have a lot of conflicts, don't they? Not to mention that Pert killed someone by losing control of himself. I don't think your involvement is necessary. Now we have Pert's confession about me and Jane on a tape, we have an advantage here. " I still feel the burning pricks from the slap I had just received on my cheek. I hold my temples. I have never felt so awful in my life. Learning that the person I love has feelings for another right in front of you, I don't have what it takes to continue. Especially when the said person is Pert, I feel even more discouraged. "Tann," Bunn leans closer to me, his hands resting on my cheeks. The warmth that emanates from it helps me calm down a bit. "I know what we should do. Pick yourself up and listen. Please?" I place one of my hands on his. "If we go through this, will you stay with me afterwards?" Bunn gives me a slight smile and replies, "Where can I be?" An indescribable feeling floods my chest, I reach out to hug Bunn. I don't know if he really means it, it could just be words of encouragement, or just to use me. But even if it's just a pretext, I'm a willful fool. "I'm at your service. What do you want me to do?" ... "While the mysterious disappearance of Prosecutor Songsak Sawangkul is still under investigation, a new disappearance has just taken place. This is Dr. Bunnakit Songsakdina, Forensic Pathologist of the General Hospital, disappeared on December 17, 2015 from which the police came. to receive the report. The authorities inspected the home of the missing doctor where they discovered signs of fighting leading to the very high probability of a kidnapping. However, traces of blood were collected for DNA analysis... " I grab the remote and turn off the television on the first floor of the school. Bunn's disappearance has grabbed the headlines as it took place just days after Pert's. I am sitting on a bench that students often use to wait for their parents. Jobs keeps the ceiling, my mind being elsewhere. I am waiting for the last student to leave in order to close the institute for the day. A beam of light shines through the entrance. A teenage girl stands up, "Good evening, Professor Tann." She bows to me in respect before heading for the exit. My eyes follow her, her parents have finally come to pick her up. I get up to turn off the lights. I plan to stop at the supermarket to buy food and medicine for Bunn. I'm really worried about him, but he's strictly forbidden me to call him. "You must not use your phone to contact me. If your brothers come to look at your call history or your messages, they will be suspicious. And when you are not home at night, leave the lights off." Bunn orders me. "The first thing you need to do is go to your evening classes as usual. Act like nothing has happened." I almost turned off all the lights when I heard someone walk in. I turn to observe the visitor. He is of medium height and wears a midnight blue shirt and gray jeans. His hair is slightly wavy, it seems calm and confident. He looks at me through his black-rimmed glasses. His face looks vaguely familiar. "Are you Professor Tann?" He asks me in a baritone voice. "It's me." I face the unknown visitor, nervously. "Do you have questions about the courses?" “No,” the man replies. I am starting to feel a worrying fear. "Oh, so do you have a reason for wanting to see me?" I try to take control of myself as much as I can. "Well yes I have one .." He remains silent for a while. "The hospital staff said that you are a friend of Dr. Bunnakit. They have seen you together several times." My heart stops beating for a second. Who is this guy? Why is he asking me about Bunn? "I took two days off to look for my little brother. As soon as I heard that Bunn was missing, I took a plane from Bangkok to come here." He explains calmly. "My name is Boonlert. I am Bunnakit's brother."
