"So he's just going to stand there and watch us all day?" Reya asked Sierra in a whispering tone as both their eyes traveled slowly until it was fixated at the heavy muscled man standing at the entrance of her front door. He had been there all through the night and he hasn't moved an inch from where he stood. She was sure that he must be another person though because she would've sworn that they had switched roles at one point in time during the night. There's no way on earth that he was able to stand there that long.
"He has been standing there all night." She whispered back, her voice taking a note of seriousness as she furrowed her brows heavily at her friend. She wasn't exaggerating. Devono, Debalo or whatever he said was his name must've asked him to stay there because she saw the man take that position after he had whispered something to him last night. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that he was a full blown statue."
Was he stalking her? Was he keeping tabs on her? He was definitely doing both.
She wanted so badly for last night to be a dream but watching everything and every second of her life unfold in front of her very eyes told her that it wasn't. The man really meant business. He wanted her and he has made his purpose and intentions absolutely clear.
Sierra rested her head on the table in utter frustration. She had called Reya as soon as the masked man exited her house and asked her to come so that they would both figure out a solution together but so far, they have nothing.
"Have you called the police?" Reya asked, forcing Sierra to dart her eyes at her in an instant. "And maybe try to report the situation to them? What if he comes back? Whoever he is?"
Reya had been skeptical about the man when Sierra told her about him. She almost didn't believe that she was telling the truth until she came here herself and saw the evidence standing on her front porch. She had almost signed her off as being crazy. Well, she wouldn't blame her though. Even her, had thought that she was crazy at first.
"Gee, as if I have such luxury." She scrunched her face and puffed a mouthful of air through her mouth. "My father is the former senator who happens to be a traitor to an entire country due to the many crimes he committed. He's on the run because he can't even bring himself to face the authorities head on. The only reason I'm not taking his place right now is because the court ruled out prison due to Nora's condition."
She sighed heavily. "They believe that i have so much on my plate already which was more than enough punishment for me."
"You really think the police would risk their necks for me? I'm as good as dead and if word gets out about this, my name will be ruined further than it already is. I only brought up the issue of the police to threaten him because he refused to leave and was adamant on making me move in with him."
"But er..." Reya pushed closer, forcing Sierra to lean in to listen to whatever she wanted to say. "Was the s*x really that good that it has him this hooked and in a chokehold?"
She glared at her, hard.
"I mean we all know that you haven't had s*x in like ages so, how come he wants you to move in with him after one night? It sounds a little suspicious." She pressed on. "What exactly did you do to have him this riled up for you in this manner?"
"I didn't do anything." She stated. "I was drunk and out of my mind, I bumped into him and i..." She paused briefly. Her brain calculating her next words. "I asked him to take me to you because you left me there all alone to die."
"Correction, i asked you to wait for me." Reya reminded her. "I also told you not to drink too much because i know that you can't handle alcohol. You were hurting and alcohol only makes it worse so don't you dare pin this on me."
"What am i going to do Reya?" She grabbed her hands into hers and squeezed tightly. "He promised that he would come back for me and i know that for whatever reason it is, he will. He said that he needed my answer by then otherwise he would take matters into his own hands. I'm scared Reya and i don't know what to do."
"Should I ask Dean for help?" She suggested but Reya slowly pulled back. She didn't know if it was such a good idea to do that. She has always cared and held on to whatever thoughts Dean had of her and him finding out that she slept with a strange deranged man who's out to get her might change his opinions about her. She couldn't risk that. She still cares about him a lot and no matter what happens, that option wouldn't be good for her.
"No." She answered after a few minutes of silence. "I don't want to drag too many people into this. Plus, i don't know if the man in question is dangerous and might do something to hurt you both. The less people who knows, the better."
Yeah right. He's dangerous alright, dangerous of making her feel things even though she doesn't like him very much. Well, it's not like she could tell her friend that she has unrequited feelings for her boyfriend so the first lie was valid.
"So what do we do because—" Reya stopped talking when they both heard the sound of her door push open. Their eyes found the big muscly man making his way towards them. She could've sworn that she locked that door. How then did he find his way in? He stood in front of her and without uttering a single word, he stretched out his phone to her.
"What's that?" She asked still, even though she pretty much has an idea of what was already going on. Something at the back of her mind had already told her that it was him but she still chose to ask for formality sake.
"A phone." He answered, blatantly stating the obvious. His hands still outstretched towards her.
"I know it's a phone i mean...why are you giving it to me? I never asked for it." She asked through gritted teeth, her frustrations evident in her voice. She didn't like the fact that everyone treated as if they had control over her life. She's even stuck inside her house with a man watching over her like a babysitter. Just how horribly wrong can this continue to go?
"My boss wants to speak with you." He informed her.
She rolled her eyes at his words. "Well, tell him that i don't want to speak with him. He has caused more damage to my life in one day than I've ever experienced in my entire life so tell him to leave me alone."
He placed the phone back to his ears to relay her message before stretching it out to her again. "He said that you either speak with him or he comes here to do it in person. Your choice."
Reya gestured with her eyes that she takes the phone and she reluctantly does so. "What do you want?" She asked as soon as the phone comes in contact with her ears.
"Have you given my offer a thought yet, Piccola?" He inquired in a straightforward manner. His voice came out a little gruff and unsettling. There was something about the way he talks, the way he calls her name and the way he addresses her. It felt like he was savouring every bit of it. Like he was taking to lick off the icing on the cake.
Memories from last night and how he touched her filled her head. She unconsciously sealed her legs shut from under the table. The fact that she could still feel his hands on her spoke volumes. Damn, everything about this was just wrong but somehow, she couldn't help it.
"I never said that I'd think about it." She blurted out, careful to ignore Reya's piercing gaze. "I believe my answer was NO when you had requested it and it still remains no."
Crazy bastard.
"And i believe i also told you that i don't take no for an answer or do you want me to do it myself Piccola?" He offered and she blinked her eyes rapidly. Reya gestured at her with a slight nod to know what was wrong. Based on her reaction, she could sense that her friend was probably in deep s**t.
"There are a lot of things you would benefit by being my pet Piccola." He continued. "Like first, I could easily cover the expenses for your sister's surgery as a gift for agreeing to my offer."
"How did you—"
He chuckled. "The choice is yours but it doesn't mean that you have that much of a choice. Besides, the sooner you agree to this, the better. In the meantime, If you need anything, Sergio would attend to them. Have a good day." He added and before she could say anything more, he disconnected the phone call.
Just as she was about to curse at him, her phone rang out loud. She picked it up when she realized that it was from the hospital where Nora was admitted.
"Hello—"
"Nora is in critical condition Sierra." The doctor informed her. "Hurry down here as fast as you can!"
Before she could process what was happening, her phone immediately went off.
