CHAPTER 3: HELL

2023 Words
It was getting too much for me. I was choking with tension. I would turn and run inwards, just as the Alpha's shout echoed across the village square, and I would very methodically retreat out of the pack, all the while keeping my eyes fixed on Timothy and his evil smirk. "All maidens, step forward!" My heart fell when I saw the village's females, primarily beta wolves with just a few Human females. I boldly walked back into the crowd and watched the line up of maidens form, I gazed as I silently prayed for Amelia not to be selected as she was a maiden in her clan as well. When my eyes opened, I was met with Timothy's intense gaze; his eyes gleamed and were almost frighteningly brilliant. I was transfixed, my head frozen in terror, my heart racing. That completed it. I could take no more. As I turned to flee, Timothy's icy, authoritative voice sliced through the atmosphere. "Seize her!" Before I could move, his guards leaped into action without thinking, grabbing hold of me forcefully. I made an effort to break free from their hold, but to no avail. Timothy never took his eyes off mine as he strode in my direction. His tone was sarcastic as he queried the Alpha, "Why was she not among the Maidens?" The Alpha gave a shrug. "Timothy, she's a nobody. a menial little omega devoid of pack. Not something to think about." The pain that Timothy's look conveyed a sense of unease that much outweighed anything Alpha had spoken. His eyes swept over my body as if he had been a predator who had chosen his prey, and it appeared as though he was measuring me. His voice sounded like thunder and made my skin crawl. "You're coming with me" he muttered. It was at this point I knew I was doomed. The Alpha looked shocked and wide-eyed. However," Timothy, this is quite unusual! An omega cannot become a king's spouse, much less his breeder." Timothy came closer to me, his eyes shining with a sinister intensity as his smile widened. "Ah, but you are mistaken there, my dearest Alpha. It has been ordered by my brother, the King, and I will see to it that way." The people' voices were filled with fear and confusion as they muttered in shock. When our gazes locked, I felt the terror and helplessness mirrored back at me from Amelia. The Alpha attempted to speak once more, but Timothy cut him off with a raised hand. "Enough already! The word of the King is law, and I will uphold it. This omega is going to be brought to the castle and ready for her new job as the King's wife and breeder. I might never wake up from this nightmare, thus I was doomed. The Alpha refusing to be silenced challenged this Abnormal arrangement " Have the king and those who council him ,gone mad." The union of Timothy's brother, the Alpha King, and me, the lone omega wolf, was deemed an abomination in our society, thus The Alpha declined to support it. In our society, powerful, high-ranking females were supposed to mate with alpha wolves like the King, not menial omegas like me. The Alpha thought that this mating would cause the social system of their pack to crumble and harm the royal bloodline. He perceived it as a threat to the security of their civilization and a betrayal of the King's obligations to their people. It's also possible that the Alpha was driven by a desire to keep me, whom he regarded as a pack member, safe from what he perceived to be a destiny worse than death: having to mate with the brutal and ruthless king Darius. Out of fury and a desire to establish supremacy, Timothy let go of his claws and cut the Alpha across the throat, quickly killing him. This violent deed served as both a warning to anybody who dared to challenge Timothy or his brother, the King, and a public demonstration of Timothy's power. The Alpha's limp body collapsed to the ground, sending the town into utter disarray. Amelia covered the twins eyes from the gory scene, shedding sobs over their faces. The atrocity that had just occurred in front of the twins' young minds was beyond their comprehension. Timothy turned to face the village, his eyes gleaming with a ferocious intensity. With a voice full of hate, he growled, "Anyone else who dares to question my brother's decree will suffer the same fate." The terrible death of the Alpha caused the locals to crouch in terror and silent themselves. My head reeling from the thought that I was now at the hands of a monster, I stood transfixed in horror. Timothy ordered his guards to "take me," never taking his eyes off of mine. "Get her ready for her upcoming position. The king is in wait." I glimpsed Amelia's distressed face as the guards hauled me away, her eyes begging me to hold on and stay strong. However, I was aware that I was doomed and that there was no way out of this nightmare. Timothy ordered his guards to take me to the chariot while I was in chains ,as we walked towards the chariot I only thought about my sons and Amelia, would I ever see them again. Once I got to the chariot ,I was greeted by a dark skinned bald headed man, from the beads covering his neck I could tell that he must've come as a slave from Africa, but there was something more strange about him,I just didn't know what . "I am Jábar, high warlock and assistant to Lord Timothy" he said with a wicked smile on his face . "I hope you'll last longer than the previous wives" at this point I became scared and agitated as Jábar came close to me and made an incantation that made me feel drowsy ,my mind raced with horror as the blackness encircled me. I was imprisoned, defenseless, and at Jábar's mercy—this enigmatic man. His magic was pulsating through my veins, leaving me feeling weak and heavy. I saw Timothy's face, his eyes glittering with cruelty and triumph, just before i passed out. I was aware that i was on my way to King Darius, the being responsible for destroying my life so many years prior. I thought of my friend Amelia and my boys, Damian and Malik, as my world went dark. Would I see them in my lifetime? Or was I destined to endure unending suffering at the hands of the King and his henchmen? Jábar's menacing voice was the last thing I heard. "Sleep well young wolf,The king awaits." After that, everything turned dark. Jábar's magic caused Kahlis's world to disappear, erasing her consciousness. She couldn't move, think, or get out of the void in which she was stuck. The faint sound of her own heartbeat provided her only solace; it was a sign that she was still alive, but how long would it last? She was unable to wake up from what seemed to be an endless nightmare as the darkness continued on forever. When she did awaken, she was in a frigid, pitch-black cell with stone walls and a cold, hard floor that chilled her to the bone. The sole source of light was a dim torch that flickered in the hallway outside, creating strange shadows on the walls. Kahlis's head pounded, her thoughts clouded by Jábar's after effects. With her chains clanking against the stone floor, she strained to sit up. She was where? How did she arrive here? Worst of all, now that she was back in the grips of the creature that had been haunting her for so long, what horrors awaited her? Kahlis felt panic surge through her heart as Timothy and Jábar stepped into her cell. Jábar's smile was menacing, and Timothy's eyes glowed with sinister intent. "Pay close attention, Kahlis," Timothy scoffed. "You'll keep your tiny secret to yourself. You are an omega wolf, and no one in the castle should know it.because mark my words You'll meet a fate worse than death if you breathe a word about it to anyone " Jábar moved forward, creating elaborate designs in the air with his hands. "Timothy, don't worry. I'll see to it her omega scent is concealed. She will carry henceforth a beta's scent." Kahlis experienced a wave of magic that dimmed her senses. She was aware that her omega scent had been concealed by Jábar's spell, but it was merely a stopgap measure. She was ensnared, helpless against these monsters. Then kahlis realized that the kings decree they mentioned in the village was a lie,but why. "You lied,if the king really wanted to marry an omega then why hide my scent, what is your game lord timothy and why me , please tell me" Kahlis said with a very sorrowful tone. Timothy's smile grows wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, Kahlis, I lied to the villagers because I needed a way to bring you,an omega back to the castle. I could have taken you by force but The royal edict provided the ideal justification. Furthermore, telling them the truth, that I want to use you to overthrow the King was more difficult to do than manipulating them with a lie." His expression becomes detached and calculated as he pauses. "You see, Kahlis, respect and terror are the cornerstones of the King's power. But the council and his followers will no longer fear or respect him if I can prove that he is willing to wed an omega wolf, something they view as an abomination. That's when I'll make my move." Kahlis's gaze narrows as the possibilities of Timothy's scheme swirl in her head. She understands that she is only a little player in a much bigger game that could have significant repercussions for the entire Kingdom. Timothy becomes more serious, and his voice becomes ominous. "Keep in mind that you are a prisoner here, Kahlis. And let's just say the King won't be happy if he finds out who you really are. He'll see to it that you meet an even worse destiny than death. The very wolves you once called friends will tear you apart." With malicious glitter in his eyes, he advances a step. "So, I advise you to keep your small secret to yourself. Never even consider attempting to get away or turning against me. Since I have ways of causing you pain as well, let's simply assume that if you do." Timothy's words hang in the air, a sharp reminder of Kahlis's peril, and she gets a shiver down her spine. She is aware that she's imprisoned and at the mercy of two men who don't give a damn about her safety. Her only hope is to play along, bide her time, and wait for an opportunity to escape... or risk everything to defy them. Kahlis was now alone in the chamber as Timothy and Jábar leave, her mind racing with ideas of rebellion and escape. She is, however, confined for the time being by the castle's chilly stone walls. Outside her cell, footsteps resound, and the door groans open. A bunch of maids enters the room with serious, expressionless features. With a sense of obligation, they approach Kahlis, keeping their eyes away from hers. "Please come, madame," one of them adds in an emotionless manner. "It's time to prepare you for presentation to the King." When Kahlis realizes she's going to be treated like a prize animal and brought in front of the same man who plagues her dreams, her heart collapses. She is aware that she needs to play along, but her soul objectifies the idea of being presented to the King as a prize. She gives up to the maids' leadership with a sense of resignation, her mind whirling with ideas of the coming torture she was about to endure at the hands of her soon to be husband,The Alpha king Darius. Kahlis started weeping cause she knew she had at long last arrived in hell.
