“Yes, including the clothes.” Sam interrupted the man as he put the things on the table out of the locked cell of Kirsty, his voice laced with firmness and conviction.
“Are we going to unlock the cell now?” The other old man said it was visible in his eyes that he was contemplating about letting Kirsty free.
It is going to be the first time that she would be out. And it was going to be the first time that the pack would let out a rogue freely inside the pack. These two men were among the five men who met Kirsty at the entrance door when she arrived at the place. And only those people including the beta knew her identity.
“We will, but before doing that, let her change her clothes and we will talk outside.”
Sam was planning on something. He doesn’t know for whatever reason that he started to get curious about the identity of the rogue. When he first saw her in the warehouse, the presence of the woman has no impact on him but the moment he was able to smell the blood and get a taste of it made him feel that he become stronger, he didn’t want to get rid of the woman.
“Follow me.” He ordered his men and went outside the cell.
Sam walked near the entrance to the underground tunnel which was connected to the ranch of the pack. He wanted to make things clear with his men not to get in between his plans and in order for them to follow his order, he would tell them about the encounter with rogues at the entrance of the forest and how they were interested in trading Kirsty for the information of the Wolfsbane. Some people call the enemies The Banes, and some are Wolfbane, but they are of the same group.
“Why are we here, Sam?”
“To talk about the rogue.” He was determined to keep Kirsty in the place.
The presence of the woman enlightened his quest to find who she really is. He can’t be wrong about the smell of his blood. He was the one who disposed of the poisonous woman who almost killed Draken. The rogue and the woman he brought in the pack have the same smell of blood, but they are only able to smell it if the rogue is wounded and they would see the blood, contrary to the poisonous woman who by her mere presence, she could entice anyone.
“What about her?” Sixto answered Sam.
The beta could see the interest in the eyes of his men and how the information about the rogue caught their attention. They know that the beta never likes the presence of a rogue, and it raised questions about why he kept one in the pack even if the Alpha disdained the presence of a rogue.
“When we encountered the rogues at the entrance of the forest, they attacked the rogue I brought here, her name is Kirsty.” The moment Sam mentioned that the rogues attacked their kind, they became more interested in the following information that he would divulge to them.
“A-Attacked?” Alejo followed to question him. He was the one who secured that the hands of the rogues were tied back in his encounter with her at the entrance door of the castle.
During this time, Sam went up to meet with the Alpha to talk about his trade. Everyone knows that rogues don’t attack their own kind, instead, they help them to go with them to their places and build their own groups. Now that they know that she was attacked, it posed a lot of questions inside their heads.
“They attacked her. She was bitten by one of them, and the other one was planning to kill her, but they weren’t successful.” Sam continued. He wanted to let his men that there was something about the rogue that caused her to be not disposed of immediately.
“Did she fight back?” Sixto chimed in.
“She didn’t fight back, because she was weak.”
“Don’t you think that she did not fight back because she didn’t want to attack her own kind?”
“The rogue is living alone back before she was captured by the men of the warehouse.” Sam knew this. He inquired about the history of the rogue from the warehouse’s head who was known to many who have great knowledge about rogues.
“And that means?”
“That means she was not with any rogues. Further, when the lead man of the rogues saw Kirsty, they stopped attacking us, and he shifted to his human state.” Sam will never forget how the man’s eyes glowed with excitement as he saw the presence of Kirsty hidden behind his back, wounded.
“Rogues don’t stop attacking us until they killed all of us or they’re all killed.” Alejo declared. He was the old man of the group.
“And that was what happened back in our encounter, Alejo. They stopped the attack.”
“So, something happened because they stop it, huh,” Sixto said.
Sam could now see that the men were too glued to the information that he provided them. That is what he wanted, for them to understand the reasons why he wanted to keep the rogue in the pack. They were the only ones who saw and know that Kirsty was a rogue, except for the Alpha. Draken knew that Sam brought a rogue, but he didn’t have the chance to see who it was. And Sam was glad about it. The Alpha left the rogue in his hands, and he won’t let the chance slip off from his hands.
“It was about the rogue.”
“The rogue that you brought here, the woman who’s inside the cell.” Alejo declared.
“Yes.”
“So, what about her?”
“They wanted to trade Kirsty, they wanted to take her from us, and in return, they would provide us the information about where the Wolfsbane are.” Sam felt goosebumps just at the mention of the name who was the one who killed his own family and cause destruction to the pack. Sam took a moment to gather his thoughts, fully aware of the gravity of the situation. The revelation that the rogue faction desired Kirsty and was willing to trade vital information about the whereabouts of the Wolfsbane in exchange was alarming. The Wolfsbane, their long-standing enemies and a constant threat had returned, and the pack needed any advantage they could obtain to counter their influence. The proposition made by the rogue faction placed Kirsty at the center of a precarious situation. Her significance and the connection she seemed to have with the rogues became even more apparent. The fact that the rogues were willing to trade valuable information for her suggested that she held a crucial key or a bargaining chip that could potentially shift the balance of power.
“The Wolfsbane are back, and they knew about them?!” Horror was visible in the eyes of his men.
“Yes, and we need to protect and devised plans for our pack. We don’t know when they would step foot in our pack.” Sam wanted to emphasize that their conversation was also connected to the presence of the rogue inside.
“No one has dared to go against the Wolfsbane for a piece of a rogue who is even weak. The rogue was important to them.” Alejo declared.
“And that's what I was thinking, Alejo. The rogue is important to them.” Sam smirked. It was the first time that he encountered such a thing.
“Did they say anything?” Alejo wanted to understand the situation. He extremely hated the presence of the rogue inside the cell. Rogues were the ones who killed his own family, and his youngest child was just a toddler. He saw how the big fangs of the animal struck through the delicate neck of his child, causing blood to shed and killing his own child without him doing anything to protect them. He was held captive by a witch at that time. It was only Alejo who saw the face of the witch, the one who runs the group, the Wolfsbane. The same witch who cut his finger where the ring that symbolizes that you are a member of the pack was on it. He will never forget that day that he loses everything, even if it was eight years ago.
“They are determined to go back for us, to get the rogue from us.” Sam spit on the side and his instinct was saying that someone was with them, and when he immediately roamed his eyes in the dark tunnel, he saw nothing.
“And that made you plan on keeping her inside the pack because she might be an asset to the enemies?” Sixto rubbed his stubbles and looked into the eyes of Sam.
“Yes, and I want your help to make this thing work out, to know who she really is.”
“Did the Alpha know about this?” Alejo has no plans on going against Draken, as he knew that the Alpha of the pack has his great disdain towards the rogues.
“Draken knew about this and left this under my care.”
“So, what are we going to do?” Sixto asked.
A visible smile is plastered on Sam’s face. He intentionally brought the two men with him when he had planned on visiting the rogue inside her cell. They were the only ones who knew the real identity of Kirsty.
“I will ask for a ring for her.” Sam is determined to do his plan.
“Don’t tell me that you are going to let her wear a ring of the pack?!” Alejo raised his voice. It only brought a painful memory that he tried to bury from his past. His ring remained with the Wolfsbane’s witch.
“For her identity. The reason for that is to let the other members of the pack know that she was a member of us.”
“That is an absurd idea!” Alejo started to oppose.
“Don’t you think of other plans for it?” Sam started to get irritated by the man’s opposition.
Alejo was silent about what Sam asked. He had no plans.
“Alright, we knew that the members of the pack hated the presence of a rogue. The moment they knew that Kirsty is one, they won’t think twice about killing her.” Sam knew about it.
“Are you sure that she is harmless?” All Alejo wanted is the safety of the people inside.
“She is, the moment she would go against us, I will kill her,” Sam promised it to the Alpha. Even if it means his plans would be compromised, he is a man of honor who follow things that he promised to do so.
“Then what about the rogue inside? How are you going to let her wear the ring?” Sixto asked him.
“I will go and talk to her.”
“You two remained here outside to see if there are others listening.” Sam couldn’t forget that he felt another person’s presence inside the tunnel and decided to let his men know through a mind link.
“What do you mean?” Alejo stood from his seat. He asked this by linking his mind to Sam.
“I felt the presence of an entity inside the tunnel.” Sam communicated it through his mind, he had no plans of uttering it. And Sam also stood from his seat.
“I will check the place.” Sixto declared through his mind.
“I am going now.” Sam nodded his head and started to walk to the entrance of the cell.
