THE DREAM
"Mom, mom!", little John comes running down the stairs, excited to tell his mother, Henrietta about his new friend. Startled by her son's voice, she asked him "John, what's wrong?". "Nothing is wrong mom. I just wanted to tell you that I have met a new friend." "New friend? From where?"."Dreamland mom". Puzzled by her son's answer, she starts checking if he has a fever, maybe it's a cold or he is sick. "Mom what are you doing?", Little John innocently asks his mother. "Are you really fine Johnny?" "Yes mom, am fine. There is nothing to worry about". "Sweetheart, there is nothing wrong with the child. He looks just fine to me. Besides, he has been sleeping for almost half the day" grandma Maggie says as she walks into the living room. "John, come and explain to me why your mother seems to be worried this fine afternoon." Little John runs to go sit on his grandma's lap. "You won't believe what am going to tell you grandma." "Am all ears little one." "I closed me eyes, like I always do when am going to sleep and the next thing I know, I was in a beautiful garden, lovely butterflies, pretty flowers and a girl, called Madiline. She was very nice to me. Surprisingly, she knew my name. I felt like I was in paradise. It even felt real, grandma. As I was playing with Matilda, she told me that Dreamland was in danger. An evil monster was roaming around, killing people in Dreamland and once he kills you there, you never wake up again. She said she needed my help to defeat the monster. After that, I woke up." "Well it is wonderful that you got to make a new friend, my little pumpkin pie. But I think it would be best if you go take a shower, have breakfast and then I take you somewhere." "Where grandma, where?" John asked curiously. Grandma replied, "It's a surprise. Now, go get ready". "He loves you so much", Henrietta said. "Well that might be because I am the only one willing to listen to him. When will you make time for your son dear?" "Mom, I am trying my best. I work two jobs, am always busy and the only free time I get is twice or thrice in a month and by the time I get it, I am so exhausted." "Atleast spend some time with your son now so that when he gets old, he won't have just wishes to hold onto but also memories of you with him. "
