Suspicious Activity

“I know you didn’t do that. You already said that you can’t access their files, right?” He nods, “Why did you called me then if you don’t want to blame me?” Abigail rolls her eyes, “I am not trying to blame you whatsoever. I need to talk to you about this, what just happened?” Laurence shrugs, “I have no idea as well. I was pretty shock when I was watching you guys secretly. I thought this is some sort of character arc for Gallant but… that caught me off guard. Well, his behavior caught me off guard as well. But, that thing wasn’t done by him or at least he has no direct involvement on it? I find it quite strange.” She looks at him, “Are you feeling anything that he’s just screwing around with us again? If he is, I got to clap and slap him. That’s an award-winning acting.” He shakes his head, “I find no hints that he is. I think it’s genuine. He was manipulated or something. But, I am not going to ask it. The Gemini might have programmed him or something like that.” “Can they do that?” Laurence looks at her, “What?” “Well, that kind of manipulation. I mean, I won’t be surprised as well. I am just going to confirm it.” He holds his chin and rubs it gently, “To be honest, they can.” Abigail smiles, “I guess there’s nothing to worry then—“ She was cut immediately, “No, there’s something else.” The witch’s mood dropped. Laurence sighs, “A character’s attitude won’t change that quickly, especially if a character have already established as specific personality. Since The Gemini uses most of the soul on the main characters, that’s hard for them to change one’s personality without interchanging data from another soul.” “But, Gallant’s attitude didn’t changed, it just got worse.” He crosses his arms, “Things that are getting worse or better is still a change, Abigail. Besides, what’s their point of turning Gallant’s back to you guys? Are they going to switch him sides? He’s actually one of the older characters here in the game. If they are planning to, there will be a character development in-between your adventures. And, I will certainly know that. I am the only villain that you are able to interact with right now.” Abigail sits on an imaginary floor on the void they are standing on. “But, it’s not far-fetched that they will implement that. Besides, with my knowledge of the game and some of the statements of my friends earlier, Gallant has something inside him that they can use to twist the story they are making. For example, Gallant was once a former prince. He just stepped down the position because he said it’s too fancy and restrictive for his liking. He also wants to venture out in the world. Even he has those things as his reasons, it’s not doubtful he will get some princely attitude.” “Such as?” She sighs, “Being bossy, he always does. And, especially, not admitting that he’s wrong and being the devil’s advocate when in conversations.” Laurence giggles a bit, “Well, you’re possibly right. But, that doesn’t change that this event is a little bit suspicious. Although, I am going to say to you right now that don’t panic. Most likely, it’s just The Gemini screwing with their behavior once more. It’s not that really surprising for a world that can be manipulated by a human like us, which is perfectly imperfect. With their intentions, it’s not doubtful that they will turn Gallant’s back to you because they just felt like it. Don’t underestimate how much evil can those bastards be.” Abigail looks at him, “I guess I am truly immersed in the world. Those things didn’t even bumped on my mind. Thank you for reminding me that there are some jerks that resembles as the gods of this world.” He laughs, “It’s not surprising for me that you are immersed in this world. They made everything felt like real and they have given you wonderful powers to fight against evil or do some fun things like you did back in that Wisteria Forest.” She smiles, “Well, I am not going to deny any of this.” He smiles, “As long as you’re not forgetting our plan. I don’t want your mind to be buried in the euphoric facade that this game is giving to you. Remember, we’re abducted in this game. We are stuck in here with other people.” Abigail groans, “I know that, i***t. I just want to have a much more peaceful day, at least once.” He shrugs, “I can give you that. But, I don’t know for your acquaintances. Besides, I will not be appearing to you guys unless I really wanted to and The Gemini needed to. They’re going to fix everything like in a few days time. So, expect yourself being in different places and maybe… we can do something cheeky while they’re at it.” She look at him with confusion in her eyes, “What do you mean?” Laurence turns around, “I’ll tell you soon. It’s better when I don’t get ahead of myself. I need to observe them more in the next few days. If you don’t see me anywhere or don’t feel my presence, I might be somewhere else in the system.” Abigail looks at him with confusion, “Do you really need to be gone that long? I mean, you could definitely go back here fast, right?” Laurence sighs, “I just need to be there in every second, okay? Besides, you could handle things on your own for now. If you want, I could cover if you ever overused your magic.” She shakes her head, “No. What about if something happened again? What about if the corrupted got out and went back and tries to kill or corrupt me or something?” He looks at her, “I will be guarding you, don’t worry. It’s just a few days in the game without me. That feels like half a day in the human world, depends if they change the system or they managed to sped up the time in this world. They could do that anyways.” Laurence approaches her and holds her shoulder, “You could do this, Abigail. Besides, you guys have this Festival of Light thing. You could have the rest you’ve wanted. Another thing is, the more the things that I could report to you, our conversation will be packed of content for us to feast on.” Abigail sighs, “If you trust me that I wouldn’t screw up…” She sighs once more, “Then, I will trust that decision. I will do my very best to not be manipulated by anyone and fix any problem that will arise in this world.” Laurence smiles as he pats her on the shoulder, “That’s what I would like to hear. This would be also your training to be much more deserving in the next elevation. Which is kind of more boring game-related things but after that, you could go to the other files of the game finally. As long as you have enough will for me to be able to get you up there, you will be there in no time.” He shakes her gently, encouraging her, “I believe in you, Abigail.” The dream slowly fades out as she can hear someone calling her. “Crocus?” She slowly opens her eyes as she saw Lavena and Keeana beside her. “Why are you sleeping on the floor? How long have you been here?” Lavena said as she helps her out, pulling her up gently. Abigail can feel the pain that was caused by sleeping on a hard and cold floor. Her back aches, she grunts a bit. She looks around as she looks at them with a fake tired eyes, “Huh, what happened?” “Well, I decided to check out on you and Keeana here is calling you for dinner. Then, we found you lying on the floor.” Abigail looks around as she can see her stuff is scattered around the place, as if she did something before she called Laurence in her dreams. “You seem been busy but slept afterwards.” Keeana giggles as Abigail helps herself out and fixed her sitting position. She acted she have an headache but the pain of her back is undeniable. “I might have fell asleep while looking for some sort of protection. Although, I don’t remember what happened before I fell asleep.” Lavena looks around as she looks back at Abigail, “Nothing seems strange around this room.” Keeana kneels on the ground and looks at her, “Have you summoned something? Is that why you were knocked off to sleep?” She shrugs as she looked at herself, pretending that she’s checking something. She looks at the mess she got and grabbed her wand, “My wand is still here and everything seemed untouched.” She caught a glimpse of a black thing on the corner of her eye. As she checked it, there was crow’s feather on her grimoire. Abigail’s lips curved. With a few moments of silence, she was snapped back to the reality. “Hey, are you okay?” She looked at Keeana and nods, “Yes, I am perfectly fine. I am just absorbing what just happened with all of these things. I think I just casted myself a sleeping spell.” She smiles as she organizes her things once more. She didn’t even bother pulling away the crow feather and shut the book, encasing it in the middle of the pages. She stands and looks at them, “But in all of that, I am perfectly fine. Some more sleep won’t hurt, especially with the event in the next few days. We might be restless because it’s a grand festival of the city.” “You’re right! Maybe tomorrow, we could help the people decorate! Especially the manor, it should be grand in decorations!” Lavena nods, “Count Alzrus asked us if we can help decorating this big thing. Normally, it could take four days decorating the manor. But, because we have us, it will be faster. The only thing that slows down the process of decorating is because the count doesn’t want to reuse previously used decorations. They are already gone after the last year’s festival, so there’s no way of recovering it back.” Keeana gasps, “We could help decorating the Radiance too! The city has the biggest Radiance among the cities that celebrates this kind of festival. It will be cool to help in that beast!” Lavena giggles, “If the count permits so. Anyway, we should be going to dinner now. The count and her daughter is waiting for us. We don’t want them to be impatient on waiting all of us to be completed. They went downstairs and to the big dining hall where all of their friends and the royal family are waiting for them. Abigail observes their faces. Catrina is back to her usual bored and almost emotionless face. Gallant has his goofy yet charming look as if nothing happened bad to him. Everyone was back in their usual mood and looks. She looks at Yris as reads her look if she’s still mad on her. But, it seems she’s back in her bubbly sassy ways. She took her seat and enjoyed a peaceful dinner without any interruptions. The next day, Keeana purposely woke her up early since they will be making the decorations already. Teria greeted her morning, she even forgot that she had a fox. She lets her follow her around. They met in the living room where all of them are going to work. It was a relaxing activity after fighting. There’s a lot to decorate and all of them involves different light sources. Abigail missed doing her cross-stitching lessons and just general craftsmanship. So, this was a fun activity for her. At lunch, the Count called them outside with a special stuff in its hands. “Now, I will show you how in Endale we summon our Radiance. The biggest among the celebrators of light!”
