Undeniable Truth

Lavena shakes her head a bit and clears her throat, “Don’t fool around us. You can’t lighten up the mood with that way.” Gallant’s confusion increases, “I am not fooling you, whatever you’re saying. And, lighten up the mood? Did someone died or something? Care to tell me what’s happening, please?” Abigail looks at Lavena whose just as confused as her. She looks back at Gallant, squinting her eye, observing him. Lavena was utterly shocked that she can’t say anything anymore. Nothing comes out of her mouth. There was no hidden mockery behind Gallant’s confused face. “Okay,” he looks at Abigail, “If both of you are thinking I am screwing around, you are definitely wrong. I am genuinely curious and confused about what just happened. And, the last thing I vividly remember is I was outside, not even in this room.” Abigail looks at Lavena who seems to have a headache. Her eyes were shut as she massages her temple. “In what other ways can I prove to the two of you that this is genuine? I mean, I am out of ideas and that’s the only thing I can say.” Lavena looks at him, “Well, Catrina is angry at you.” Gallant reacted a little bit but more of the confused side than the shock he’s feeling. “I mean, there’s no time she’s angry at me or downright hating my guts. Although, I am curious what I did this time when my memory is just floating above the clouds. Because it felt like that.” Abigail is observing him, whether he’s holding a laugh or giggling in between words. But, she found nothing but genuine reactions and words. “Are you really, really sure you aren’t messing with us?” He sighs, “Look, I may look like and even act like a non-genuine person, which I do, I’ll admit that. But, that doesn’t mean that I won’t be serious, especially in times when I genuinely don’t know what happened. Besides, if it’s about me not knowing how I pissed off Lavena and Catrina, it’s something to be discussed with. I will rather be aware of how of a jerk I am to somebody than being oblivious about it. And, I don’t like being accused of something I don’t know or have taken part in.” “Then, what happened to you?” Lavena looks at him. “If I know, I would’ve said it with my explanation why I don’t know anything you are talking about to me. Besides, why would I keep it a secret to you when it’s downright terrifying. I’ve done something without my input, is there any more that I can say?” Abigail holds Lavena’s shoulder to calm her down. “Could you just say everything to me that happened? So that at least I have an awareness of why Lavena just slapped me. Lavena always has a justification for why she slaps me but I don’t know it this time. So, care to tell me?” Lavena sighs, “Abigail went back to the manor after almost a day of missing. Then, I was telling her not to do it again. And, somehow you said something that really triggered her.” Abigail crosses her arms, “You said to my explanation that I have done it because all of this hero stuff around me is getting in my head. And, you know what happens when I am triggered and you are the one who caused it.” “Chaos, huh?” Gallant flicks his tongue, “I really wish that I have witnessed that, at least in the back of my mind. If someone was really manipulating me.” “You wouldn’t want to.” Lavena rolls her eyes, “You never been more disrespectful like that before. If comparing it to your daily douchebaggery, we will say you are even polite in that case. Catrina stopped you guys which led you to fight Catrina. Eventually, you said something ill to Tabitha. It leads her on punching you which she never has done to you before. It was worse that we need to separate you two. I can see the bloodlust in Catrina’s eyes. Even you two were childhood friends, she will kill you, without a doubt.” Gallant was suddenly overwhelmed with all of that simple explanations. His goofy face earlier to lighten the mood up a bit was just gone. It fades into a much serious and somber face, a sight that Abigail rarely sees. “Then, I was lecturing you in this room and we fought as well. I slapped you because everything you are saying was just outright incriminating. Even you are a prick, you don’t go that far. But, yet you did. You did it as if nothing was stopping you, as if you don’t have morals left at all.” Gallant was shock and speechless, he was like that for a second. Both of them decided not to pack him more with more information about what just happened. It was silence for a few seconds, then he broke the silence himself in the room. “I spoke ill of Tabitha in front of Catrina and said things that are incriminating?” He looks at them, “Is there more evidence that I didn’t do these things myself? Is there more? Because what just happened can prove my innocence on this. I can’t. Emphasizing that more, I CAN NOT, never ever in my life, even I die, I can not speak ill of Tabitha. If Catrina cares about her, I do too. Me talking ill to her is so impossible. I can’t even wrap my mind around it. You know about that, especially you, Lavena.” Lavena sighs, “I know, I just don’t know what to really do. What I witnessed happened and it’s real. Even if we deny it all, it was real.” “But,” he looks at her eyes, “Could the real Gallant do all of that? As you said to yourself, I am not that big of a jerk, am I?” Lavena massages her forehead, the confusion is conquering her mind. “You’re not but what did we just witness do that? It was clearly you.” Gallant sighs, “Physically. But, mentally? I swear it’s not me. If you won’t believe what I am saying and what I am trying to prove here.” He looks at Abigail, “How about you then? I know you know me as well and you’ve heard it from Lavena. What do you think of this?” Abigail sighs, “If that wasn’t you, it’s not far-fetched that someone controlled him. Besides, this world seems to have no limitation at all. Magic exists in this world, Lavena. And, I know you guys aren’t running out of enemies to deal with, especially this time.” Lavena looks at her, “Do you think it’s the Dark Wizard?” “It’s possible. A witch like me could have the ability to manipulate something. Wizard is literally just a masculine term of us, it’s not impossible for him to do that to us, specifically Gallant this time. He has the intention to defeat us and he has the ability to manipulate things. If we don’t have someone to blame it into, the Dark Wizard is the best bet. Besides, he will do this without any shadow of a doubt. If he can, he will. If he wants it, he will get it.” Lavena fixes her hair and takes a deep breath, “Then, how could we prevent that? That’s outright terrifying. It almost drifted us apart, it almost made a fault between ourselves. This is the scariest thing he has done to us.” “As they say, villains take any opportunity.” Gallant sighs, “I’ll admit it, I can’t fight over this. This is something that’s just downright unfair. If he wants to fight me, he fights me evenly. Combat, the physical one. He’s the one who said he wants things fair and square and now, he’s taking advantage of me being a complete jackass to you all. I admit that I am disrespectful sometimes but not to the point where I hit the mean bullseye and just trigger someone. And, I am the only one who must control how much of a jerk I will be, not him! I have standards.” Abigail sighs, “Maybe I could help to protect us all. I could find a spell, a potion, or any magic artifact like what Winsel gave me to avoid these circumstances. But, I can’t promise that I will be victorious about it.” Lavena looks at her, “Your effort will not be wasted even if you failed to find one. At least, you tried to find one instead of not finding anything at all.” She looks at Gallant, “I think we need to talk about this with Catrina. I hope she’s not that angry at you anymore. But, thinking of what you did, I think she will never forgive you.” He sighs, “I know she can’t. I can’t even forgive myself for saying that or whoever did that. That’s just too sensitive. I hope she will hear us out or this will change the course of all of our interaction.” “I’ll come with you, especially if the twins need help on stopping her from attacking you.” All of the three exited the room and went their way to the bedroom where Catrina is. The twins were just going out of there as soon as they arrived. “Why are you here? Especially you.” Winsel whispered as he squints at Gallant. “You jerk!” Before Edsel can even push him, Lavena went in-between them. “There has been a misunderstanding and we need to all talk about it.” The door opens with Catrina peeking from the other side. As she saw Gallant, she immediately shuts the door close and locks it. “Catrina,” Abigail called her and went near the door. “Misunderstanding? We all heard it, Lavena. We all heard that Gallant just became insensitive. He talked ill about Tabitha.” “That’s the thing, he will never do that. Because someone did it.” Edsel laughs, “Lavena, is there something happening here? Why are you enabling that bossy prince—I mean, former prince, I shall say. He was clearly trying to cause chaos among us.” Lavena sighs, “You know how much Tabitha means to him as much as Catrina does. Talking ill about Tabitha is something f*******n to him.” Abigail looks at them, “He might be under some sort of spell earlier. He was oblivious of what happened.” They can hear something running up to them, it was Wren and Keeana. “Lavena, it’s a bad idea to bring Gallant near Catrina, for now, you know that?” Lavena turns to Wren, “Everyone must know what happened. I am even was doubtful of this but Gallant was innocent on this.” “I do. I can never, even in someone’s dreams, outright tell something bad to Tabitha. Whatever has happened was not in my hands or at least, my hands there weren’t controlled by me.” He looks at the door where Catrina is leaning on the other side. “I am innocent of what just happened, Catrina. Whatever happened there, it’s someone’s fault.” The door opens, “Everything you are saying right now is a joke, isn’t it?” Gallant groans in frustration, “It’s not. I will never speak ill of Tabitha. You know that, Catrina.” Abigail nods, “We’ve learned that something or someone has manipulated him.” She looks at Lavena, “I think you three should go inside and talk. I may need to get the preventive thing for this stuff to be made real quick.” Lavena nods, “Abigail is right. Catrina lends your ears to us. This is the most threatening thing we have come yet so far.” Abigail excuses herself as she immediately runs up to her room. She locked the door as she grabs the crow’s feather. She went in the window, sitting on it. She looks at the feather as she talks to it, “Could you meet me this day once more? This is urgent.” In a blink, her eyes suddenly shut close.   She woke up and saw Laurence in front of her. It was the same place that they were in before. “Before you could even ask me about it. No, I didn’t do that whatsoever.”
