Another Enemy

2096 Words
Abigail was confused, “Another enemy? I have no idea if I have another one for I only know the dark wizard himself.” Mother Yvette sighs, “That’s the problem, you are clueless about what’s happening. Awareness is important, my dear. It solves all of the problems.” Lavena joins in the conversation, “I heard something from whoever corrupted Estelle, Mother Yvette.” The lady looks at her with interest in her mind. “Whoever is this magical being, it’s finding Abigail and seems to find her. Using Estelle’s mouth, it said that it has been finding her for some reason.” Keeana agrees with her, “It also threatens us not to attack her in any way since Estelle would be harmed. Whoever this jerk is, it just wants Abigail. It wants to kidnap her, Mother Yvette!” The lady nods, “Does the dark wizard want to abduct you, or has he expressed the feeling of that desire?” Abigail thinks for a moment. In all of their interactions, all of it was either him talking about some sort of prophecy that she will fight him or mocking her as someone weak. She shakes her head, “He always just say to me that he will kill me once the day of our battle arrived. He visited me earlier in my dream just to mock me about what happened to me last night in the Thallasess’ Tavern.” “Do you believe he has no intention to abduct you whenever? Someone that has a title of a dark wizard has proven themselves enough to be evil and mischievous. It’s not far-fetched that he changed his mind and just abduct you for some reason that he came up in a second. He has the power to do so, my child. And, evil people throughout the history have proven through and through they have the determination to execute different plans just to get what they desire.” Mother Yvette sighs, “You need to be more careful, Crocus. The amount of damage that has occurred within this room has proved that you aren’t ready yet. These people in front of you don’t have the ability to counter these problems. You are the only one who is powerful enough to stand against these magical problems. Especially if it’s something to do about wizardry and witchcraft, both dark and good.” The stuff she’s holding has this blue gemstone centerpiece being held by two curved branches of her old wooden staff. The gemstone glows as the lady points it straight in front of her. It created some sort of magical mirror, levitating on the top of the table. This mirror slowly got tainted with black spots once more. She withdraws her staff, with it the mirror was gone as well. “Every wizards and witch have different abilities, especially with ones that have a specific title on them.” She looks at Abigail, “This ability is a confusing one, my darling. Anyone with darkness as their ability could do such a thing as this. Every species could do this as long they have the power of darkness within them. If you are considering that this isn’t him, it will be an adventure to even know.” She took a deep breath and sighs. She looks at them, looking very sorry. “I am not an omnipotent being, even many creatures have treated me like one. I am just an experience mage and have been walking in the soils of the Earth for decades. I can not help you with anything other than protection which I even failed earlier. But, I am here to help you, heroes, for something that I could contribute to. There are limitations of what I can do, I still have people to protect and serve.” She grips on the staff, “This is a new threat, my beloved heroes. A threat you have never seen before. It’s not something big that you can’t handle, but it’s something that you need to prepare for. Most of you comprise of physical offense and defense but very few for magical ones.” She looks at Abigail, “This is your main job, Crocus. I know they have met magical enemies before. But, this is something that their mortal bodies can not handle. Damage that herbal medicine and artificial ones can not heal at a fast pace. Your enemy has a possibility that it has immunity to physical damage. All of those are very, very bad news.” She offers her hand to her. Abigail reluctantly accepted it as they transported somewhere else. Everything around them was in blue color. “These companions of yours will get cursed and nothing could break it but you.” Mother Yvette shows her someone that is slowly turning into a deer-like creature. “Someone can die if you don’t aid them.” Another scene was shown at her with these magical streams of magic. It was a man levitating in the air with his mouth wide open. Another stream of magic was going out his mouth as if something was getting sucked out of it. “This battle between you and this enemy will be the turning point of everything.” Other scenarios were shown to her, most of them are deaths and suffering of people made by the magic. They were faceless but their bodies give a subtle hint of who is in the small little magic skit happening around her. Mother Yvette faces her, “Choose wisely, my child. Your fate and everyone’s fate are in your hands. It’s a big obligation, I know. But, just follow what do you want for yourself and everyone.” The lady thrusts her staff on the ground as everything fades away. They are back where they are before. Abigail was just staring ahead, traumatized by everything she just saw. She starts to get anxious about what will happen and her decision-making. “Crocus?” She looks at Mother Yvette. “Be tough.” The lady smiles at her as she looks at everyone in the room. “I must go now. The carpenters in this village will fix all of these problems.” She looks at Sieqa and Gyllnees in the corner of the room. “I will pay whatever cost they charge to you two. This is a magical disaster and I must help you.” She clears her throat, “Anyway, I’ll be just in my home. I will not leave this village for a day because of what happened. I need to be prepared if something happens again.” “Thank you, Mother Yvette.” Both the inn staff said and excuse themselves. The lady bid her goodbye as well and left the heroes in the dining room which is a big mess of a place. After the lady left, the elves she’s saying came. “Good morning!” They greeted rather positively which lighten the mood a bit. “Lavena, could you help us bring Gallant to a much better place?” Winsel said as he grunts when he helped Edsel carrying the big man. “Oh come on, Win! We can do this together. The only thing that is heavy to him is his armor.” Winsel glares at him, “Because, you are only carrying his head! Help me here fully.” Edsel laughs, “Fine, fine. You’re not in for a good laugh after this horrifying scene?” Winsel groans, “Shut up.” Catrina stretches her body, “I’ll go in my room. I need to make yet another medicine.” She left the room and went upstairs to her room. Abigail sighs as Lavena comforts her, “Don’t worry, you are not to blame.” The witch shrugs, “I don’t know about that, Lavena. I ruined everything.” She looks at Peter and Naval who are carrying Estelle. “I am sorry for your friend.” Naval smiles awkwardly, “No, no! You don’t need to be sorry at all! You’re not the corrupted being who possessed Telle, are you?” She shakes her head, “Then, there’s no need to be sorry about this. Besides, Estelle is perfectly fine as far as we know about these possession things. She’s breathing fine and she only has few injuries. She just needs rest for like a day or so and she will be back to her normal self.” Abigail sighs, “But, I am the reason that the creature even got your friend.” Naval shakes his head and holds her shoulder, “Don’t blame yourself. You should feel ill as well. We are all victims here.” The little fish man suddenly withdraws his hand and hid behind Peter in embarrassment. “Why did you said that Naval?” He whispered to himself. Peter just giggled and shakes his head, “Typical Naval. Anyway, we’ll settle Estelle into her room now. It’s much comfier to lay down there unconscious.” He laughs amidst what just happened and went upstairs with Naval. “They’re right, Crocus. You are not the person to blame. There’s no one here to blame. If there’s one, it’s that dark thing or even the dark wizard to blame!” Keeana tried to lighten up her mood but she failed. “I want to be alone for a while.” She walks out of the room. “You shouldn’t be alone after what just happened. Whoever did that to us could come back for you.” Lavena stops her in her track. Abigail shoves her aside, “It’s fine. At least, it can get me, not you guys. Besides, there are plenty of people wandering around the streets of the village. If that makes you a bit less concerned.” She continued walking and left the inn, leaving Keeana and Lavena behind her. She looks around the village. She was right, people are wandering about in the streets of the village. She took herself in a walk, remembering every building she passed by for her not to get lost. She was greeted by the people in the village but she was focused on her walking and thinking that she didn’t notice them. They were confused why the floral witch is behaving like this. Then, the story of what happened in the inn circulated in the people and creatures that live here at the very moment. All of them were terrified when they heard the news about the possession in the dining room. The children were slowly disappearing in the streets. Their parents are calling them to stay in the house for a while with the great scare that they have heard in their neighbor’s mouth. Minutes later, Abigail arrived in the plaza where a crowd of people are standing in front of a fountain. With her natural tall figure, Mother Yvette can be seen among the crowd of people. Abigail approached them and investigate what’s happening. “I know all of your concern as the story of what happened to our new inn has spread in this village. This is a small one, so I am not surprised that all of you already know about what happened in the inn.” The lady speaks to the crowd in her very large and loud voice. “But, don’t be afraid. I am observing that you are hiding your children from your homes and yourselves as well. Don’t let fear control you. Let the children be free and play in the streets and all of you can go on to your daily lives. I and the heroes will help you and protect you whoever has attacked them in their stay.” As Mother Yvette was looking around, she saw the floral witch among the crowd. “One of them is here, Crocus, come to my side.” Abigail was a bit hesitant to do so. But, she walks up to her and stands beside her. “Here in my side is the witch Crocus. Remember, the hero is in our village, so don’t doubt your security.” All of the residents of the village agree. “Go on with your day.” She looks at Crocus, “I would like you to meet someone. She will gladly help you with your problem. She might be your friend once you meet.” Mother Yvette called someone as a girl with long blue braided hair approaches them. “Hi, Miss Crocus! I am Cencha at your service!”
