My dad was standing at the door looking at me like he could strangle me. He was fuming I could even see his nose flaring up and down.

His gaze moved to behind me to where Kaden was standing not caring about the mean look my dad was giving him and if it was even possible he got more upset

“You have a lot of explaining to do Laika” he said through gritted teeth

“I’m so sorry papa, I had after school clubs and got invited to a friends house after and while there I totally lost track of time” I lied with no difficulty, something I’ve never done before

“Oh so you were at school today? Because I called your school today after not being able to reach you cause I wanted to let you know I’d be home a little late but your phone was off and they told me you hadn’t showed up to school at all.

So stop freaking lying to me Malaika or so help me god” he said his voice raising a little at the end making me flinch

“Papa I...”

“Excuse me sir, I know it’s not my place but I think you’re overreacting a little and scaring Laika” Kaden spoke from behind me in a even angrier tone, what the hell was he doing?

“Oh so this is all because of this boy?” Me dad asked folding his hands over his chest and ignoring Kaden completely

“Can we talk about this inside please I’m tired” I said side stepping him and walking into the house

“Kaden, please go I’ll be fine, I’ll talk to you tomorrow” I said cautiously making sure I don’t fuel my dad’s anger.

Before Kaden could respond my dad slammed the door in his face and I heard him growl but my dad seemed to not notice thankfully

“Well?” My dad asked me after turning to face me

“Okay yes I wasn’t at school today, and no it’s got absolutely nothing to do with Kaden, he’s just a mate (if only he knew which ‘mate’ I meant) from school who gave me a ride back home.

I really wasn’t feeling to well today, I had a lot on my mind and so I took a day off, I spent it at the park. I didn’t want to worry you and that’s why didn’t tell you that I would be skipping school.

I promise you it’s nothing serious I was just feeling a little down and wanted to be alone and...I’m so sorry dad but I really have nothing else to say” I said lowering my gaze

A ping of guilt hit me with the solemn look on his face at my lie, him knowing I hinted at mom since her death anniversary is just two weeks away a few days after my birthday”

“Please just trust me and not ask any further questions. I promise you this won’t ever happen again” I said my eyes pleading with him

“He looked at me like he was about to burst but slowly his face started to relax

“Oh Laika, he said holding the bridge between his eyes with his fingers

“Do you know how worried I was? With all that’s going on in town you don’t know the thoughts that run through my mind after I couldn’t reach you and found out you had not even been to school. I didn’t hear you come in yesterday and I didn't see you this morning. You had me worried sick regardless of what your reason was you really had us worried.

I’ll trust you and let it slide this time but this better be the last time anything like this happens in this house do you hear me?” He said sternly but also calmly

“And if you feel like that don’t just disappear like that, talk to me. I’m here always. We’re here.” He said much calmer

“I promise dad never again. And I’m sorry for worrying you I forgot my phone here so I couldn’t communicate with you but yes I promise you it wont ever happen again” I told him assuringly

He pulled me into a soothing hug and held me tightly kissing the top of my head.

I couldn’t help it I cried in his chest. Thing about me is if you hug me for a long time I will start crying and I didn’t realize how much I needed to hug my family after all that had happened.

I don’t want to ever leave them and that thought alone left me a sobbing mess. He continued caressing the top of my head whispering that everything would be okay, he thought I was crying for my mom if only he knew.

I slowly pulled away drying my eyes and him kissing the top of my head and looking at me with a smile that I returned

“Well lookey here, she finally decided to come back home” Kian chimed peeping from the living room

“Hello to you too Kian” I said smiling walking over to him and giving him one of my hugs that I knew he loved but acted like he didn’t

“Ewwww get off”

“I love you too little bro”

“Yeah I’ll believe that when I see some cash, I need new kicks. As you know I gotta shine for the ladies” he said with a wink

I knew he missed me and masked how worried he was with the jokes

“You’re not getting more money from anyone young man, at least not until your grades improve” my dad said sitting on the couch next the one we were sitting on

“Why do you look so pale” kian asked catching me off guard

“Your skin looks so weird mahn and your eyes look a lot lighter than usual, so you have money for contacts but not any for your ‘favorite bro’?” He scoffed scooting away from me

“Yeah Laika, you do seem pale, is something else wrong?”

“Woah everybody calm down” I said holding my hands up and starting to walk away

“I’m fine, I just started using a new body cream must be that” I’m really tired now so I’m gonna head to bed

“Aren’t you gonna have something to eat? I made beef and mashed potatoes, your favorite” my dad said, evidently pleased with the meal he was offering

“I’ll have some tomorrow papa, Kaden; the guy that dropped me off already gave me something to eat” I said my body heating at the thought of what I actually meant

“Goodnight then” I said and rushed upstairs

When I got to my room my heart was beating so fast, how was I going to hide all that was going on from my family? And how will I be able to go to school when it’s sunny? I stood with my back against my bedroom door pondering on my situation and then when I turned on the lights my heart almost jumped out of my chest!

Kaden was comfortably sitting on my bed his eyes on me

“What the hell kaden!” I whisper yelled

“You almost gave me a heart attack, what are you doing here? I thought you left.” I said then turned locking my bedroom door, can’t have Someone especially Kian barging in here and finding us alone in my room.

When I turned back around he was up and closer to me than he was a minute ago

“Well firstly, you can’t really get a heart attack anymore as your heart (he pointed to my chest)isn’t even technically beating, second I couldn’t leave until I knew you were absolutely safe and of most certainly not without a goodnight kiss from my beautiful mate” he said winking at me

“Shhhhh!” I said since he wasn’t even whispering, was his plan to be heard by dad? I can’t put it past this guy anyways.

I suppressed the blush creeping up on my face at his cute little suggestion though

‘Be lucky you even stole my first kiss already without even asking me out or anything.’ I thought to myself

“You need to stop sneaking up my room like that” I said in a low voice

“Okay from now on I’ll use the front door baby doll” he said smirking

What was so amusing to him

I glared at him and folded my hands over my chest and I watched him follow my actions till his eyes landed on my chest.

“Eyes are up here sir” I simply said

He cleared his throat and sat back on my bed

“What are you doing I need to undress to go and take a shower”

“You’ve seen me naked already, two times if I might add, I think it’s poetic justice if I saw you like that as well” He said his eyes darkening lustfully

My mouth formed an O’ looking at him like he grew a second head

Then he laughed, a beautiful laugh that I’d just noticed

“You should have seen your face, is that the version of a vampires heart attack? Priceless”

I smiled not at his little antics but at just how cute he looked laughing even clutching his stomach. The sight made my heart flutter.

“Anyways now that I know you’re safely in your room and your did didn’t chop your head off I can leave” he said standing up

I scoffed

“My dad would never hurt me kaden” I said rolling my eyes

“Say what you want but I’ll always worry about you baby doll” his smirk was back again.

He stalked towards me his eyes with an emotion I’ve gotten to know all to well since this morning. I didn’t move back though I stood right there till we were almost body to body.

I was trying to act calm but my body was in trance with how close we were to each other, I craved for him to get closer.

I soft moan escaped my mouth when he slowly traced my hands which where now bare since I’d taken off my hoodie in the passage to my room.

He looked at me with so much hunger in his eyes as he traced my left hand softly. I bit my lower lip in anticipation suppressing another moan.

His hands went to my fingers while his eyes were still locked on mine

He slowly locked his fingers in mine. My hands fit perfectly in his then I felt something cold on them I turned to look at our hands and he had placed a beautiful gold ring on my finger, it had an almond shaped blue stone in the middle that was shining even in my not so bright bedroom light.

He pushed it further while I just watched his actions.

Was this guy proposing to me already? We haven’t even gone out on a date yet, we’ve been together a day! I don’t even know s**t about him.

And yet I was smiling like an i***t at the ring on my finger. Why was I smiling? My senses came back to me and my eyes widened

He took my hand in his and brought it to his mouth kissing it gently. Sparks erupting where his lips touched.

He looked at me with his head still bent down and I swear the sight had my panties soaking.

He pulled away smiling wickedly

I just stood there my gave moving between him and the ring on my finger

“Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to marry me just yet even though I really want to. little mate that ring is enchanted To allow you to walk in the sun and all. Greta cast a spell on it so always have it on you when you go out, can’t have you turning to ash on me” he said

“And tomorrow morning I’m picking you up and will be with you for your first hunt to feed”

“What?” I asked shocked at the last part

“Hunt animals not people don’t worry” he said chucking

“Though would really love to offer myself to you completely and let you have your way with me” he said his eyes dark making me blush again

“Okay I’ll go now before I do something I won’t regret but still regret if you know what I mean” he said winking and heading to my window

“Aren’t you getting your goodnight kiss?” The question come from nowhere and I instantly slapped myself across the face in my head

He turned and smiled at me a sly but yet beautiful smile and was right next to me in an instant

He looked at me almost like asking for permission and I bit down on my bottom lip looking down

When I looked up to meet his gaze his lips crashed onto mine and fireworks exploded.

His lips were soft against mine kissing me softly, his one hand circled behind me and landed on my lower back pulling me closer to him. I was on my tiptoes glad he held me in place.

He bit on my lower lip gently and I gasped from the sensation. He took this as an opportunity and thrust his tongue into my mouth tasting every inch of it.

Our tongues danced hungrily with each other. My hand moved to his neck pulling him closer and I heard him grunt causing me to moan.

I pulled away for eyes panting and I knew my face was a blushing mess

He gave me a quick peck that also conveyed agony for parting and he quickly run to my window and jumped right out.

I stood there with the pool between my legs still lost in a trance. Why was I suddenly acting like a horny teenager? I’ve never been this turned on. I guess my senses being heightened really was no joke

I walked to the window when I heard his car drive away and locked it. Can’t afford another one of his surprises again.

I walked to my bathroom took a quick shower, taking the time to look at my skin which did seem pale now but also beautiful.

I put on my pajamas and went right to sleep. It’s gonna be one long and interesting week for me as a vampire, I thought as I turned off my night light.
