Tests and Meadows

We got to the school and dropped off Kian at the junior secondary area. He enjoyed the attention of course, busking in the glancing and whispers of envy from his peers.

I said bye and he just shoo’d me away but proceeded to give Kaden a handshake. That slaw out. We drove off when he started talking to a group of guys and girls who I’m guessing are his friends.

I was shocked to see Kaden driving away instead of to our side of the school

“Uhm, school is the other way”

“Are you really sure you wanna be in school today?” He asked

“I did miss yesterday and i actually think I’ve got a hang of this vampire thing already” I stated pretending to be as sure as I could be

“Well I admire that you’re that sure of yourself but let’s just actually make sure before you’re left alone around with hormonal teenagers shall well?”

“But...”

He gave me stern glance and I immediately backed down

We drove in a comfortable silence for a few minutes in the direction of his community house but stopped midway

“Today we’re gonna have to check a few things. I can already tell you’re quite strong but let’s just see how strong you are and we’ll have to see just how much you’re able to restrain yourself, keep your vampire urges in check and all, of course only if that’s what you want of” he said asking the last part

“Of course it’s what I want, I don’t wanna become a cold blooded killer and since there’s no cure for this horrible curse I’ll have to learn to live with it right?”

“Don’t worry Laika there’s many vampires who have been able to resist human blood for years, I am certain you will be able to do the same and keep living a normal life, with me by your side of course” he said the last part pecking my cheek sending those pleasurable jolts of energy to where his lips touched once more

“Uhm, okay what do I gotta do? Let’s get this over with”

“Well there’s a little town on the other side of this forest, that has a few let’s say ‘people who will make you want to rip their throats out’ so if you can hold yourself back from those triggers I’ll consider your first test a pass and we can move on to the next”

“Okay and what will be the next?”

“One bridge at a time my little mate”

“So this little town you mentioned, if I can’t see it from up here then it’s pretty far, why did we get out of the car?”

“We’re going on a little run once again, i thought you’d like that”

“Something in me jumped with excitement at the thought and I smiled”

“I’ll take that as a yes then. Let’s go”

Before I could say anything he bolted into the woods next to the road and I was on his tail not long after

We ran for about an hour thirty minutes when he came to a holt and I did as well. I was a panting mess but Kaden looked like he didn’t break a single sweat! I stood next to him and in front of us was I little town that looked like it needed much fine tuning.

The buildings and roads looked a little run run down and old.

Not so many people were visible, probably busy with their own stuff in their houses?

The streets in the cold weather smelled of oil, rubbish and other smells I couldn’t say I’d smelt before. It wasn’t pleasant.

We walked down to the center of the town where a number of the towns people were busy doing whatever but looking at us like we needed to get out of there. Well me, they actually seemed afraid to directly look at Kaden I they also knew who was.

Kaden didn’t seem phased though and that gave me the confidence to move freely.

Kaden led us into what looked like a pub and when we walked in everyone’s attention turned to us.

The pub reeked of oil and alcohol and sweat. There were drunks everywhere and it wasn’t even noon yet. Men who talked very aggressively to the waitresses looked at me like a piece of meat and Kaden like they loathed him but couldn’t do s**t to him, they were afraid of him.

We slowly walked to the bar and stopped Kaden ordered a beer and I watched as two drunk men found their way to my side.

I looked to Kaden but he stepped away from me and took a seat at the table near us and continued drinking his beer like he couldn’t notice the two idiots.

“Hey gorgeous, are you lost? I could give you directions to where you belong if you want” one guy with long blonde hair said, slurring his words

I looked to Kaden again, his hands were balled into fists. I could tell he didn’t like it but he just watched as the men looked me up and down

“Baby girl you seem exhausted, if you need somewhere to rest my bed is available” the other younger and not so shabby looking guy said moving closer to me

“Sorry I’m not interested.” I simply stated turning away

I felt a grip on my shoulder and I was turned to face the two guys again

“Where do you think you’re going? From what I can see you’re not from around here, where are you from? Even worse you are newly turned, I know you have certain cravings right now, you can feed from me if you like I promise you I taste just as good as I look” the second guy said looking me up and down

I felt disgusted and I felt my blood boil.

My heart rate was rising I was angry.

Not at the drunk men, but at the guy who brought me here and was sitting calmly on the chair watching random men harass me.

I looked at him and he was just looking at the exchange with no reaction

“I said I am not interested!” I said through gritted teeth pulling me shoulder away

I turned to look away and felt a hand on my shoulder again

“Where are you going are we not good enough for ya?”

I felt something in me snap

Before I could think about anything else I felt my vision turn blurry red and I pulled on the guy touching me with my fangs now visible

“Did you not clearly hear me say I am not interested?!!!”

I threw the guy across the room leaving him laying limp after hitting the wall on the other side.I turned menacingly towards the other guy and something was telling me to just snap his neck.

I somehow could tell he wasn’t human. His smell, his heart rate and his skin all screamed vampire.

He bared his fangs at me releasing a sound like some cat or something wtf was that for? I felt he was about to charge at me and In the blink of an eye he was next to me with his hands tightly around my neck.

He was choking me. I almost stopped breathing until I felt a strong surge of energy over power me and I removed his hand breaking it in three places.

I lifted him off the ground like he was a piece of paper and threw him out the closed door.

I was ready to charge after him to finish him off when Kaden finally spoke

“Enough”
