Where It All Began
"Si ojos Tienen, Que no me vean
Si manos tienen, Que no me Agarren
Si pies tienen, Que no me Alcancen
No permitas, Que me Sorprendan
Por la Espalda No permitas,
No dejes que mi muerte Sea Violenta,
No dejes que se me derrame la sangre,
Tú que Conoces mis Pecados,
Pero también Conoces mi Fe, No me Desampares.
Amen
"Que Dios Este conmigo"
"If they have eyes, let them not see me.
If they have hands, don't let them grab me
If they have feet, let them not reach me
Don't let them surprise me from the back.
Don't let my death be violent.
Don't let my blood be spilled.
You who knows everything.
You know of my sins, but also
You know of my faith. Do not forsake me.
Amen
"May God be with me."
'As I say this prayer, it reminds me of the cold, hard truth that I have had to live with for the past 10 years of my life. The heartbreak that I had to suffer because of someone who was envious of what another person had. In this world, no one is to be trusted, not even your own shadow. My name is Lena Tijeras. I was once known as Lena Montoya, but she's dead now. She died the day her family was hunted, like how wolves hunt their prey, slaughtered like animals. I guess I should start from the beginning. I was 15 years old when my family was brutally murdered in front of me. Shall I go back to six months before it all went to s**t?
FLASHBACK....
Believe it or not, I was a very cheerful person. I grew up with the most lovable family. I had three sisters and one brother. I was the oldest out of the five of us. Then there was Loli, Patricia, Lenny, and Shade. Our parents were the best. They had a lot of love to share to the point that they would just have people gravitate toward them. That is why I found it very hard to believe that someone actually wanted to hunt and kill them along with my siblings and me. I was a sophomore in high school. Loli and Patricia were twins. They were first-year students, so I wasn't the only one in high school anymore, so that was a plus. Lenny and Shade were in middle school at the time.
I felt the sun on my skin before I could open my eyes, smelling the refreshing scent of white lilies from my mother's garden. The annoying sound of my siblings arguing about God knows what. Back then I would hate them for arguing, but now I would give anything just to hear them argue with each other. Loli started banging on my door to get up. Let's be honest, who is really a morning person? Yeah, not me. I hate waking up so early. Loli continued banging on my door until I finally got up. Opening my door
" What!" "I'm up" looking at Loli, annoyed. "Mama said if you aren't ready when she is, you have to find your own ride to school."
"Okay, give me ten minutes." I told her, knowing full well that my mom would actually leave me and I would have to find my own ride. I closed my door when I finished talking to her and went to go take a shower. Yes, I have my own personal bathroom. Actually we all do. Our father is the CEO of Montoya's law firm. In his early days, he made some smart investments which allowed us to live very comfortably. But my family and I were never ones to flaunt our wealth. My dad always made sure that we knew what it meant to work hard for what we wanted, and let us know that we didn't get anything without earning it. Truth be told, we were better people because of my mom and dad teaching us the value of hard work. I finished showering and brushing my teeth in five minutes, then I went into my walk-in closet. I picked out a red crop top, ripped black jeans, my black leather jacket, and my black leather boots with red laces. I picked up my favorite shades and headed for the door, where my bag was waiting for me. Calling from the car was my mama, Ezperanza. " Lena, get your ass in this car, or you'll be walking to school!" rolling my eyes at her even though I knew she wasn't bluffing. " Okay YA VOY! MAMA!" We finally took off to school while my dad took Lenny and Shade to middle school. Walking into school, I met up with my best friends Ace and Beth. " Hey Bee, Woah!!!" "You look like s**t did you sleep last night?" "Do Not Talk to me right now it hurts too much to talk," she said, annoyed. "Forget her Lee, her dumb ass really thought that it was smart to drink on a school night" Ace said laughing At Beth's misfortune. " Yo Bee you drank without me? See, this is why your ass has a f*****g hangover. "What exactly causes you to drink on a school night?" "She was trying to keep up with her brothers. "You mean to tell me you wanted to keep up with your brothers, who, by the way, know how to hold their liquor without a problem, and YOU! Who doesn't know how to take a shot and hold it down?" "Ay no, you're crazy," Lena exclaimed, as the bell rang for the first period.
" Yo, I heard, we're supposed to get a new teacher today, "Beth said while raising her eyebrow in wonder. "Well, hopefully he or she ain't act like they got a stick up their ass." Ace said, "I felt that!" And as we chatted with each other our new teacher walked right in. "Alright everyone My name is Emelio Gomez and you will address me as Mr. Gomez not Emelio, no Mr. G, but Mr. Gomez I'm not your friend I'm your teacher and I expect respect from you-"" Excuse I don't know nor care where you come from but here you want respect you earn it don't automatically think you deserve respect just because you're a teacher, no, no, no, MR. GOMEZ that is not how that works, but we will be polite as long as you are but if you don't earn our respect, and you show that we don't deserve to be respected then we follow your example, and you will be treated the same way that you treat us. So I not only speak for myself, but I speak for the whole class, Mr. Gomez, when I say we will give you our trust in guiding us to be the best of who we can be. So, Mr. Gomez, we leave our future of Science in your hands." When Alison, our student body president, was done saying what she had to say to Mr. Gomez, everyone was in awe. Some were even impressed, but Mr. Gomez looked like a child who had been scolded by his mother. Me well being me, I started to clap, and then everything went into chaos. Everyone was hollering and cheering about how cool Alison was and how they couldn't have said it better. Mr. Gomez tapped on his desk to get our attention. So we quieted down and listened to what he had to say. " Well, Miss... I'm sorry, what's your name?" he asked. " Alison... Alison De Leon," she said with a satisfied look. "Well, Ms. De Leon, have you ever watched Yellowstone... No, well let me enlighten you. One of the characters spoke of the meaning of power... what is power? Power is when you can control whatever is in your hand, Ms. De Leon. I have control of whether you pass or fail this class, which means I have the power to send you to the principal's office for interrupting my class. You don't have that power you want respect, YOU have to earn it. You're the student and I'm the teacher. I have the power to send you to the principal's office and have you transferred out of my class. So Ms. De Leon, would you like to be transferred out of my class?"
