*Neveah* It worries me that Sam has passed out, but at least he got down some antibiotics before doing so. He won’t need another dose for several hours. As the cannon fire calms, I hear the roar of Pickett’s charge outside. Roar is the best word to describe it because the gunfire is so intense, it sounds like thunder, not to mention all the shouting that’s accompanying it. I suppose war cries like these help summon the bravery it takes to charge into a death trap. Even if Sam was awake, I wouldn’t dare move outside. I won’t until I’m sure the Confederates have retreated. Even then, we’ll have to be careful not to get shot by stragglers or stuck in the crosshairs of some sharpshooters.
