Chapter 1 The Engagement Party That Became a Laughingstock
“Stella, why don’t we make a bet? Will your fiancé abandon you for me and turn you into tonight’s laughingstock?”
Tonight was the engagement party between Stella Green and Adrian Watson. Before the party started, Stella saw a message from Anna Whitaker.
Stella's heart trembled violently, and she instinctively looked over at Adrian.
Adrian's phone rang, and the next second he answered the call, “Hello, Anna.”
Stella never expected her fiancé to speak so tenderly to another woman.
On the other end of the line, Anna said something that made Adrian's expression shift, “What? I’ll be right there!”
As Adrian turned to leave, Stella grabbed his arm, her eyes pleading, desperate for him to stay.
“Adrian, where are you going? Tonight is our engagement party.”
The engagement party was about to start, and if Adrian left, Stella would surely become the city's biggest laughingstock.
Adrian's anxious expression was filled with worry about another woman. He forcefully shook off Stella's hand: “Get away! Anna fell down the stairs. I have to go.”
“Impossible, Anna is faking it!”
Anna had just been sending messages to Stella to show off; how could she possibly have really fallen down the stairs?
But Adrian harshly pushed Stella away. “Faking it? Do you think everyone is like you? Anna is an orphan, her health isn’t good, and she doesn’t even have anyone to take care of her. Anna is genuinely kind and never puts on a facade. It’s you who is jealous of her, trying to sabotage her at every turn. I’ve already agreed to marry you, isn’t that enough? You won’t even allow me to check on Anna? You ought to take a good look in the mirror yourself. Besides this face, what else do you have? Do you think someone like you deserves to marry me? Get lost!”
Adrian forcefully pushed Stella to the ground and strode away.
Stella's heart felt like it'd been ripped apart, pain flooding her body from the gaping wound.
No matter when it was, as long as Anna called, Adrian would always leave immediately. It’s one thing for him to leave during ordinary holidays or anniversaries, but even at tonight’s engagement party, he left without a thought about how Stella would handle the aftermath alone.
Stella clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms as if she were trying to channel all her anger and determination into that strength.
Stella's gaze was firm and bright, showing a fierce determination. She took a deep breath, as if to encourage herself, then raised her head and called out in the direction Adrian had gone, “Adrian, if you dare to leave today, I, Stella, will never marry you in this lifetime!”
Adrian's footsteps showed no sign of stopping.
Stella smiled self-deprecatingly; she knew that in Adrian's heart, Anna would always be the most important.
Adrian thought that in a couple of days, Stella would act as if nothing had happened and kneel to beg for his forgiveness.
Stella watched Adrian's departing figure, her heart felt colder. It seemed that Adrian really didn't care at all about Stella becoming a joke.
All those years of effort from Stella had been for nothing.
“Stella, you really have been abandoned by my brother; what a shame!” A mocking voice came from the side, it was Adrian's sister, Sarah.
Sarah rolled her eyes. “If it weren't for you obsessively clinging to my brother, how would he even look at you, let alone think about marrying you? Tomorrow the whole city will see how much of a joke you are, hahaha.”
Stella stood up calmly, her expression chillingly cold.
“Is it my joke, or your Watson family's joke? The Watson family owes me an explanation for this; I want Adrian to kneel before me tomorrow and beg me.”
“Kneel before you and beg? You're simply dreaming!” Sarah thought Stella had gone mad.
Since Adrian had already left, Stella had no reason to stay there.
Stella quickly took off her dress and left the hotel without looking back.
The Watson and Green families were both very influential figures in the capital. That night, the news of Adrian ditching the wedding spread like wildfire online, and Stella was severely ridiculed.
While everyone was laughing at Stella, she simply replied online with six words, “Trash, it’s better off without it.”
For those who like to pick up trash, let them take it away.
In the deep of night, Stella drank glass after glass in the bar, as if it were a final toast to her lost feelings. From today onwards, she and Adrian would have nothing to do with each other.
There were so many men in the world, not just Adrian; wasn't there a handsome one over there?
Boldly, Stella walked up to the man with a drink in hand. “Hey handsome, do you have a girlfriend?”
The man was extremely handsome, with sharp features and deep-set eyes, but he exuded a coldness that made people hesitant to approach him; only a drunken Stella dared to do so.
The man shook his head, and Stella boldly reached out, hooking her finger under his chin, with a flirtatious expression and sultry gaze. “Do you mind a one-night stand?”
The man's lips curled into a smirk. “It seems you don't know who I am?”
Seeing him in a suit, Stella thought that most people who dressed like that were in that line of business. “How much for a night?”
The man's expression instantly turned displeased; he felt like this woman was treating him like a s*x worker.
However, before the man could respond, Stella's lips pressed against his.
The man's deep eyes flashed with a dangerous glint, as Stella's soft lips met his, her hands wrapping around his neck, her fragrant body pressing against his strong chest.
In the next second, the man went from passive to aggressive, lifting Stella's hips to bring their bodies even closer, while his other hand gently pressed the back of her head, his attractive Adam's apple moving with his magnetic voice as he kissed her more forcefully. “Woman, this is what you asked for.”
The hotel room was thick with a sultry tension, the silhouettes of the man and the woman intertwined on the bed.
Their clothes were strewn across the floor, and Stella was pinned to the bed by the man, his seemingly magical hands roaming over her body, igniting her desires.
Stella couldn't control her moans; her body was too hot, as if it was melting under the man's touch and kisses, as he opened her body up.
Stella's chest was covered, her legs spread apart, as the man introduced something hotter than her body into her.
The room's temperature kept rising, the man worked hard, and Stella's body trembled incessantly under the overwhelming pleasure.
In a daze, Stella thought she had just casually picked someone up at the bar, but she didn't expect this man to be so fierce, not caring if it was her first time, only focused on taking what he wanted.
