Everything hurt. Ethan had tucked me in and whispered nonsense stories as he brushed my hair, but when I opened my eyes, he was gone.
I knew my heat was over, and Tanya was bouncing around in my head, clearly feeling more energised than before.
She kept quiet as I sat up, and when my eyes fell on the clock, my jaw dropped. It was well over two days after Ethan had left me asleep.
Tanya answered me, her voice sounding more like it used to before, without the usual tiredness and wariness.
