EPISODE 9 I turn the key once and the engine starts, “Alright,” I hear Greenfield shout with relief, now that the car has started I jump back to the passenger side and Greenfield hops in after closing the hood of the car. “Thank you,” he simpers. I’m amazed what he is thanking me for, “there is nothing to thank me for,” I say with my hand smacking the air. I slightly twist my neck backwards to take a glance at my father and I catch his eye that is watching us like a hawk. “So...Doctor Greenfield...tell me...do you always offer rides to your patients?” father dares to throw that question at him. “Father!” I cast him a disapproving eye and then I stare at the doctor feeling uncomfortable for him. “As a matter of fact...yes I do,” he boldly answers without blinking even for a second. I must admit that I am a little disappointed to hear him say that I was hoping that maybe he made an exception for me, well even if that were the case it wouldn’t be because I’m sexy and attractive but because he felt pity for me. My father annoys the hell out of me by grilling Greenfield with more questions as if he made a crime by offering to drive us home, we can’t even get home fast enough. The cool morning breeze seeps through the open car window and blows my loose hair all over my face. I use my finger to flip it away but it blows onto my face again. Doctor Greenfield must have been watching me because the window begins to wind up. I'm not sure if I should thank him for that or just give him an appreciative smile. He glances at me clearly expecting some sort of acknowledgement from me. "Thank you," I say, without staring at him. "You are welcome," he whispers as he rubs my knee that is exposed by my sitting position along with my thighs. I get an uncomfortable and uneasy feeling from his behaviour. He has been too touchy with me. I have no idea if he is doing it thinking it's innocent or he is up to no good. I look at my dad wondering if he saw what happened but I see him staring outside the window into the distance, it is visible that there is something bothering him. I hope he will talk to me about it. It's a good thing he did not see Greenfield rubbing on my knee otherwise he would have given him a hefty punch and demanded that he pulls over and we get out of his car. "Do you drive?" He asks. "No..." I respond, anticipating his next question. He stares at me as if he is wondering which planet I'm from. "How old are you?" What does age have to do with it? "How old do you think I am?" I ask him to guess, curious to know how old I appear to him. "Hmm I would say around 25 - 28," his guess crushes me. Do I really look that old or he is just bad at guessing? Could it be that the way I dress makes me appear older than I am? "So...did I guess correctly?" He asks with an anxious smile on his face. I'm about to tell him yes, he guessed right because I do not want to see the look of amazement on his face after telling him I'm way younger than that but my father decides to respond for me. "She is only twenty years old, she is still a little girl," he says with a stern voice. 'Little girl!' Oh my goodness why would father say that to him? I screw my eyes shut and clench my teeth with embarrassment. "Daddy's little girl," Greenfield mumbles. There is silence throughout the rest of the journey. At last we arrive at my neighbourhood and I give the doctor directions to our home. I can tell by the look on his face that he has never been to this place before and he is alarmed by how poor the place is. "That's our home," I point at the two story house that looks Iike it was built a thousand years ago with its dull painting that's scraping off and it's ugly old design. Greenfield pulls over without commenting, which is good because I do not want him to comment or ask any question. I don't plan on inviting him inside even though I know it would be rude not to. "I'm home in one peace, thanks to you doc," my father taps him on the back and doesn't wait for his response. He walks towards the door and pauses by the door to give me a look that asks why I'm still standing there and not following him behind. "Just a minute dad, I will be right behind you," I yell. Vivian was still in her sleep wear when she heard a car pullover in front of her house. She thought it was probably someone who is lost because they never get visitors driving to their house. After peeking through the window and realising it is doctor Greenfield with Becca and her husband, she ran upstairs to change into active wear, black leggings and active bra. She unties her hair and rushes outside using the back door. "Ooh...hie there...I didn't know we had a guest," she exhales as if breathless from working out. "Mom...why are you dressed like that?" I throw her a frown. "Isn't it obvious...I was working out," she frowns back at me. "Hmm ... that's funny because there is not even a sign of sweat on you," "How are you Mrs. Cruz?" The doctor cuts in to stop us from wasting his time with our silly conversation. "Oh...Please call me Vivian or Viv," she says as she whips her hair. She turns to me and frowns because she was expecting me to leave. "Becky...why don't you go and see if your father needs help?" 'He is your husband, isn't he?' I'm tempted to say but I do not want to appear rude in front of the doctor. I’m wondering why my mother wants to be alone with the doctor, she hasn't even cared to first see how my father is. "Okay..." I reluctantly say before waving goodbye to Greenfield. I don't walk inside the house instead I hide nearby to listen to what my father's wife wants to say. I watch with disdain as my mother purposely drops her wrist watch and slowly bends down to pick it up, she takes ages to get back up so the doctor can keep staring at her ass that is showing perfectly in her shaping leggings. “Oh I’m so clumsy,” she chuckles. Greenfield clears his throat and looks away, “I have to get going, is there anything you need?” he asks. “Oh yes, I was thinking that maybe it would be a great idea for me to have your number just in case of an emergency,” she rubs her lips together and taps her foot on the ground.
