chapter 6 Lights flicked uncontrollably in the dark underground box-like bunker under the royal palace. In this bunker; that was only used in the direst circumference since it could survive even the Earth exploding; were only a few objects. A holographic map in the middle and a few computers dotted around in each corner of the room. “The Fist of Magicum has arrived, my Lady,” a Lord Officer reported. “Excellent,” the Chancellor replied, studying the endless amounts of data streaming through the various holographs. “My Lady- three annihilators have entered orbit, and our power system has got down,” the Lord Commander reported, looking through his data slate. “Order the 5th Angels to redeploy themselves along the African line,” the Chancellor ordered. The line was a mass military installation that covered the north of Africa. It was designed to protect Eurasia if the tribes of old decided to attack North African and if they wanted to conquer the rest of the Republic, but that’s another story from before Humanity took to the stars. “But that would leave the southern part of Africa unprotected,” “Better the south is lost than two continents, Supreme Grand Master,” the Chancellor snapped. “Another incoming wave on the Palace,” someone reported. “We need a plan,” the Lord Commander suggested. “Anything Jeremy?” Chancellor Charlie asked. “Davion did send me some scans of the Capital. Which shows that the Order has approximately three bases around the Capital,” He tried to show them on the holographical map; however, it only showed three large circles of mass concentration of the enemy around certain urban features. “Come on we’re three of the smartest people in the Republic. We need to find these bases and destroy them. Otherwise, the Capital will be overrun, and if the Capital is lost, then morale will be gone,” Charlie explained. “Okay, this first circle is in an area of industry. Which makes sense because they could cripple our production,” the Lord Commander started. “It’s too much area to cover, and the Order would want something easy to control and secure. Something like this would work,” Jeremy pointed to an energy port. A large undeveloped area that once energy got sent to Earth via the geothermal stations in and around Mercury. The energy got bottled to be sent off to other planets, or it got stored to be used on Earth. The plant used monstrous energy orbs to store electrical energy. “Correct, that’s one down,” Charlie said. “This other concentration is in a widely used business district; however, their first target could suggest that our power is their target. Therefore, this energy distribution centre would make logical sense,” the Lord Commander explained. The others agreed. “My Lords, sorry to interrupt but why target our power if it’s already down,” a trooper inquired. “I think what you mean is why stay there. It’s because if we can’t re-establish our power, then our military capabilities are limited,” Charlie explained. The bunker shook violently as the palace became under siege. “They’ve broken through, my Lady. We need to get you,” a member of the Chancellor’s centurion guard ordered her. Each high ranking official of the Republic; like Jeremy, Garro, the Chancellor, the Lord Commander, and Lord Admiral; each had their own Centurion Guard which was a group of five of the most dangerous, able and loyal fighters in the galaxy. Basically, they were personal protectors. Even though Garro never used this guard. “We need to find that last base,” Jemmy suggested: “This last circle is in a heavily abandon industrial zone with no links to power. Although, there is a building that is still used to pump magically leaded-petroleum to the nearby military outpost,” Shots raged outside the bunker. Charlie ordered: “There, Jeremy!” Pointing to the building in question. “Supreme Grand Master Jeremy, get to these bases and destroy them. Loosen the Order’s grip on my city. Lord Commander, with me. My house will not fall today!” With that, Jeremy craved a pentagram into the floor and teleported off to the first base with his guard. Seconds later, the Order breached the bunker. Immediately, the guard formed a barrier between the Order and the Lord Commander as well as Charlie. The golden armour of the guard blinded the Order as both sides charged. “For God sake,” the Chancellor muttered, as she drew her long silver Japanese swords and charged at the foes. Charlie was a spinning tornado of death as she leaped, ducked, and swung at her foes. Whenever they tried to attack her. She effortlessly dodged each attack and used it to kill her opponent. For example: when a Basican tried to stab her with a rusty sword. She jumped over the blade. Grabbed the Basican’s hand and used the force whip the foe around. Forcing it onto a Centurion Guard’s blade. Meanwhile, the Lord Commander was firing shot after shot at these abominations. He was a fierce foe with cold eyes and well-placed shots he killed anything. That dared to get too close. The centurion guards, on the other hand, were practically one body, one mind all acting in unison to use their doubled bladed staff to cut down their foes in one clean motion. Every second could hear only one sword motion that chopped down hundreds of swarming Order forces. “My Lady, we need to move,” “I know guardsman. We fall back to the, and we make our stand there,” With the guard forming a wall around their leaders, they all headed towards the throne room. Which being bomb-proof had a lot of weapons as well. Minutes later an annihilator ship in orbit fired upon the palace. Half of the palace was gone. In my name, I hope everyone hurries. The Republic cannot survive much longer. The Chancellor thought.
