1. The abandoned baby.
Once upon a time there was an abandoned baby in a basket, only kept warm by a knitted blanket. The baby had been left by the edge of a forest near a road. The baby cried and screamed until it passed out from exhaustion.
A woman was driving home from work. When she realized she had forgotten to fill up the tank when she left work. The light had been on since that morning and the tank was nearly empty now. She hoped she could make it to the next gas station. She was about half way home, when the fuel ran out. She steered the car in to the side. Frustrated, she hit the steering wheel, accidentally hitting the horn. The loud noise startled her. But not only did it scare the crap out of her, it also woke the small child nearby.
She then picked up her phone, calling a friend to come help her. While waiting for her friend, the woman stepped out of her vehicle, when she heard a cry. Curious as she was, she followed the sound. Which led her to the basket. As she bent down, two eyes, blue as the ocean, looked up at her.
"Oh dear, aren't you lovely." She picked up the baby. "My name is Isabelle, what's your name little one." The baby smiled at her, melting her heart.
"Little girl, you don't have one do you? I think I'll call you Penelope." The babys smile grew wider as Isabelle gave her the name. "Oh I'm glad you like your new name."
Isabelle picked up the babys things and put them in the passenger seat of her car, just as her friend came to the rescue. She had brought a can of gasoline.
"Hey Izzy, you can't expect your car to drive without fuel." She grinned as she jumped out her car shaking the can of gas in her hand.
"I know Sam, it's weird I thought I had, but I must have forgot. Thank you so much for coming." With the baby in her arms, she hugged her friend.
"Who is this little sweetness?" Sam questioned, caressing the babys chubby cheek.
"I just found her by the road. Isn't she lovely?"
"She must be hungry, what are you going to do with her?"
"I think I'll take her in, I have to, she has no-one else."
"Well then let's get you two moving, so you can get her something to eat."
Isabelle placed the baby in the basket while Samantha refueled the car. "Thank you Sam, are we still on for this weekend?"
"Sure thing, see you friday."
The two women then drove their separate ways.
This baby had had no name nor a family to care for it. Now she had both. All because Isabelle had forgotten to refuel her car. Running out of gas at just the right moment. Almost as if it was.. fate.
This baby was like no other child, she was special. This little girl would grow up to become the kindest, most beautiful girl in all the world.
