I could barely concentrate on my patients all morning.
My mind only stops for a bit when Namjoon walks into my office.
"Someone is going to keep an eye on Jimin for your safety and Lavana's. We're going to let her stay with Hoseok for the time being, though."
My relief for her passes when an oddly different emotion takes over.
"D-Does she have to stay with him?"
Namjoon raises a brow.
"Can't she just stay with me?"
He looks a bit surprised by my question but he shakes his head.
"There's less risk of Jimin knowing where Hoseok lives. You being the town's doctor, if Jimin were to find out where you lived and you had Lavana with you..."
I sigh while seeing his point.
"Do you really hate the idea of her staying with him that much? You don't trust Hoseok?"
"I know he won't talk about my...preferences. But I just don't like the thought of Lavana being in that house alone with him."
"Wh-What?" I notice Namjoon's stare.
"Are you...Are you in love with her?"
My eyes widen at the question.
"In love? Me?"
"It would make sense, wouldn't it? I've seen you care for her more than you have any other patient."
"I...I've never been in love before so..."
"Well," He clears his throat.
"Does your heart pound when you see her?"
I slowly nod.
"Do your hands feel...tingly when you want to touch her or do touch her?"
My silence answers for him.
"Do you feel jealous at the thought of her being with someone else...or seeing her with someone else?" He raises a brow.
Jealousy?
Is that what this is?
Namjoon chuckles at my slightly shocked expression.
"Looks like you're in love, my friend. I do hope that Hoseok doesn't take her from you, though. I would hate for you to love your first love so soon."
****
"Hello, Hoseok." I was a bit surprised to see him come to my office.
"Hello." He gives a little smile.
"May I speak with you?" He asks before I nod and shut the door behind him.
"This is about Lavana, I'm assuming," I mutter before sitting down.
Hoseok looks down at his hands while biting the inside of his cheek.
"What is it Hoseok?"
"Are you going to do it?" He silently asks.
"Do what?" I look a bit confused.
"Are you...going to get rid of Jimin?"
I see hope in his eyes that I will.
"I get the feeling you're asking this not just in concern to Lavana's safety."
I slowly feel this jealousy rise in me.
"I kissed Lavana."
"You're in love with her," I say more in a statement than a question.
"I'm assuming you are as well." He sighs.
"I am." I simply state.
I can't tell what he's thinking, I see emotions in his eyes that I've never seen before.
I'm only used to seeing fear in people's eyes.
"Lavana...seems to be too scared to fall for someone else." He suddenly says.
"I can tell."
"...And I take it you don't like the idea of her being with someone else?"
I might sound selfish if I say yes, but I have no right to be in this situation.
"I don't care who she is with...as long as she isn't in Park Jimin's arms anymore."
"May I proclaim a deal, then?"
My eyebrows raise with interest.
"And that is?"
"Kill Park Jimin...and let me keep Lavana by my side."
Ignoring my own jealousy I attempt to think wisely about this.
"And what are you planning to do after I get rid of him? Surely the town will find it odd that he is gone."
"I will take Lavana from this town and we will somewhere new. Somewhere we can have a new history and life."
"...You want to take her from this town?"
At this point, I'm sure he can sense my jealousy.
"I've been in love with Lavana since the day I first met her last year...I finally have a chance to make her my woman...And I am not letting it slip through my hands."
How do I respond to such a deal?
Do I answer with my jealousy taking over...or do I think about Lavana?
"Deal."
He seems to be a bit surprised that I would agree to it but still nods.
"I don't recommend doing it so soon. The town might accuse Lavana of doing it, even if it were to be out of defense." He says while standing up.
"I'll wait a few days before doing it. I'll be sure to let Namjoon know about this."
He nods before taking his leave.
****
"Have you gone mad?" Namjoon angrily yells.
"Jin, if we put him in prison-"
"I am not waiting that long for that scum to be put in a cell. Lavana may be too terrified to even think of pressing charges against him. And I don't want to risk him finding her before we can do anything about this."
He deeply sighs while running a hand down his face.
"Fine. You can get rid of him. But be discreet about it, yes?"
I quickly nod.
He huffs.
"What about Lavana?"
"What do you mean?"
"Are you really okay with Hoseok taking her from this town?"
I bitterly chuckle.
"Not in the slightest...But if my heart and mind can rest easy with her being safe, then so be it."
He sadly smiles while nodding.
"How did you know?" I suddenly wonder.
"Know what?"
"How did you know how to tell I was in love with Lavana?"
There was some silence before he lets out his own bitter chuckle.
"I've told you before that I wouldn't do things like this for just anyone, Jin."
My eyes slowly widen as I put his words together.
"N-Namjoon-"
"It's a bit funny, actually." He barely smiles.
"Growing up together, I...I always noticed how you would have a hard time showing love and affection.
Hell, I don't even think I ever heard you say 'I love you' to anyone."
He sadly chuckles.
"I-I thought if I kept our fathers' deal for us then...maybe...just maybe you would slowly but surely fall for me."
I always heard how my patients describe how sad they feel when something happens to cause such an emotion.
Is this what sadness also feels like?
"Namjoon, forgive me-"
"You have nothing to apologize for." He lightly waves it off.
"I'm just glad you finally found someone that could make you feel something you've never felt before...even if I was hoping it would be me."
"I should go." He suddenly says when I, at least, attempt to let out some words of comfort.
"It's late and you should rest...my friend." He sadly smiles before walking out the door.
