Good At Goodbyes

Annabelle pov.

Why is he being so nice to me? He should hate me for being part of the rogues who attacked his pack. Yes it wasn't me directly but still, he should hate me a little shouldn't he? In a way I'm very happy he doesn't hate me because I never thought I'd even have a mate but what I also don't understand how I know he's my mate when I'm only 17. "I'll explain everything later Annabelle but for now let me enjoy my time with our mate" Lilth spoke up knowing what I was thinking. 

I must have fallen asleep on the way because I can feel someone trying to call to me. "Bell we're here, time to wake up sleepy head" I recognise the voice as Vincent's. I slowly look up at him, feeling shy all of a sudden I just nod before squirming a little so he'll put me down.

Vincent's pov.

She started squirming so I assume she's wanting me to put her back down but for some reason I'm frightened she'll run away from me. I stand there for a couple minutes hoping her squirming will stop but sadly she doesn't so I hesitantly place her on her feet. " Are you ready to go in? You don't have to do introductions yet but seeing as this is the pack house and you're not from here people may try talking to you and finding out who you are" I tried explain to her without worrying her too much. "May I go for a walk first? Just to clear my head as it's been a while and this is a lot to take in" she asked me, making it clear that I failed not worrying her. "Um the thing is I have some Alpha duties i need to take care of but we can go for one after" I tried reasoning with her hoping she won't want to wonder, like I said I'm scared she'll run away from me. "I don't mind going alone, I just want to clear my mind that's all" wow she's really determined to go on this walk. "Don't you dare let her go, something doesn't feel right" Axel decided to speak up, I agreed with him but at the same time I don't want her to feel like she's suffocating or trapped here. With a very obvious and loud sigh I decided I would let her but of cause I had a condition, I'm not that stupid. "Alright princess you can go but only if Kane goes with you, he won't interrupt you but he will be with you" she goes to argue against but I cut her off "that's the rule Bell otherwise you can just waltz straight into the pack hou..." before I could finish the sentence she was waving and dragging Kane along with her. I let out a warning growl which only earned a laugh from Kane but my mate on the other hand froze were she stood, slowly turning around to look at me. She look petrified, oh god I didn't mean to scare her. "Sorry Bell, I don't like people touching what's mine" she blushed at my comment before nodding and giving me a "Yes Alpha" urgh I hate her calling me that, as she walked away I yelled to her "call me Vincent and don't bow to me" she's going to be hard to get out of her shell. 

Annabelles pov.

Vincent was right, Kane didn't interrupt me but he was always close by. I was busy admiring my surroundings, there was so many trees, some tall and dark, some small which were obviously recently planted and there was so many different flowers. It reminded me so much of my family's special place, I can see this being my new faviourite place. "Annabelle we're probably further out than the Alpha would like, he did kind if mind link me to keep you close but I didn't want to sound bossy" he informs me whilst rubbing the back of his neck, it's quite funny because he looks like a naughty school boy who forgot to do his homework and has to explain it to the teacher. I like the give that comes from Kane, it's very welcoming. Not in an attractive way but a comfortable way, like a good friend or even brotherly. "Please, 5 more minutes and we'll turn around" I have him a puppy dog look, not sure why because I haven't used that face since I was 15 but it worked as he nodded his head with a cheeky grin. Just like I promised it had been 5 minutes and I stopped to turn back but then I smelled it, Aidan. "Well well well looks like the bunny has made a new friend" I froze at his voice, how did he get past the border without them knowing. They always knew when they crossed but that was all part of his plan. "A..Aidan what are y..you d..do..doing here" I managed to spit out slowly backing away. "Why I've come to get my mate obviously, now stop wasting time we need to go" he sounds a little irrated but he's trying to cover it up with a weird forced smile. Before I could reply Kane was in front of me standing in a protective stance "She will not be going anywhere with you, now leave before I rip out your throat" he warned Aidan but of cause he just let out a chuckle, I hate that chuckle because I know what it means, he had a plan and expected this. "Here's the thing pup, she's going to come with me or I'm going to tell my friends here to rip you apart limb from limb" he finished his sentence with the most evil smile I have ever see him muster "but hand her over and you will be allowed to go without being harmed". Kane was about to disagree but if there's one thing about Aidan he always keeps his word, if I go with him he will let Kane go unharmed as promised but if I don't he will with no hesitation have him killed so I place my hand on Kanes arm to get his attention. He looks down at me and as soon as our eyes met I had that familiar feeling again, I know it wasn't attraction still but something in me wanted to protect him just as he wanted to protect me. I saw the pain and fear in his eyes, not because of Aidan but because of what would happen to me if I go. "I have to go Kane, I won't let you get hurt just because of me" I try reassure him with a smile "I'll be alright I promise, you'll see me again". He lowers his arm and wraps his arms around me "be safe, I've mind linked Vincent and he's on his way. I don't think he'll make it on time so try leave a scent trail for us. We'll come get you and bring you home safely". Home. I could hear the fear in his voice, he wasn't sure if he would find me but I think he was trying to convince himself more than he was me. I pulled away from the hug before giving him one last smile and walking towards Aidan. "Good girl" he said to me as he snaked his arm around my waist causing me to force myself not to flitch so he doesn't get mad.  "Hes free to go and he is not to be harmed by any of you" Aidan commands the rest of the rogues, I let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding. "Wow you don't look even a little sad about leaving bunny" urgh I hate that name with so much passion and just how smug he looks makes me want to puke. "We...well Aidan, because of y..you I've become v..very good at g..goodbyes" I replied before making sure Kane was out of sight so I could push Aidans arm off me then breaking into a sprint. Rogues were about to chase after me before I heard Aidan "leave her be, she won't go far. She isn't that stupid" sadly he was right, no matter where or how far I ran he would always find me. Before I used all my energy running, I made sure no one was around before going behind a tree and shifting. It was so insanely painful but I held in my screams so no one would try find me. I shook out my fur then rubbed it on a few trees as I walked by them leaving a trail like Kane asked. I was about to sprint off but I needed to say goodbye to Vincent in the only way I could. I looked up to the stars and released a loud sorrowful howl hoping he would hear it and know it was me. Almost instantly I heard a howl returning mine, it sounded angry but full of so much hurt. "I'm sorry" I whispered to Lilth, I know she's heartbroken right now as I can feel her pain. "Don't worry Annabelle We'll be reunited" and that's when I broke out into a sprint and disappeared into the night.
