"But I like it here," I replied, while my wolf whimpered.
"This is no land for the living, child," she said gently.
Sadness washed over me.
"But my mate is here," I replied, glancing sadly at the most beautiful wolf I’d ever seen.
"She’s waiting for you on the other side," she assured me. "They need you."
"They?" I asked.
"Yes. They need you. Now, wake up, Alec."
I felt as if I were falling from a great height, jolting awake as I landed. My body ached and felt sticky, though I couldn’t yet move or open my eyes.
"You shouldn’t lift anything as heavy as my brother while you’re in early pregnancy."
