Chapter 20 A Silver Serendipity Moonlight softly illuminated Shadow’s body as it lay somewhere in the swamp, consumed by a vine with the sword only inches from his outstretched arm. Gnaw Bone sighed deeply as he gingerly approached. He longed to get another chance at Crusher, which had driven him to risk Shadow’s fate as he used a long branch to carefully retrieve the sword. He kept a sharp eye on the flowers, and when they turned in his direction, he backed up a safe distance. It took several attempts before he was able to successfully get the sword within his grasp. When he did, he tested it out against an imaginary foe and rubbed it against trees and stones to polish it and remove the rust.
