chapter 2

10 years later I stood in the kitchen cooking eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. It was around 4 am so no one was up yet. It's the only time I can have a moment of peace. My body hurts. For 10 years I have been beaten into submission. At first my wolf stayed strong and encouraged me to fight them. I was only 8 years old though. Day after day, night after night, I was starved, beaten, and once I turned 13 r***d. My wolf would howl and cry in my head trying to keep me from breaking but eventually she snapped. Every sound or movement made both of us jump. She hid in the back of my mind most times. She never spoke, and frankly neither did I. Only when they ordered it did I obey. Otherwise I was the perfect slave for them. Cook, clean, stay silent, obey. At night time I sat crying in my cell as flashbacks of that night came in waves to the forefront of my mind. Every day was about the same. I woke up earlier than the pack to start breakfast. My stomach would growl at the smells but I learned the hard way that if I ate before my time that I would be punished. Once the pack woke up and started to move around the house they would make their way to the dining room. I would bring the food out and serve them one by one. Some would ignore me, others would touch me as I tried to fill their plates. But the worst were at the head of the table. The Gamma, Jesse, was the one who liked to remind me how worthless I was. He was the one in charge of my meals. I was only permitted to eat one small meal every day. If I acted out against their wishes I was declined food. Then the Beta, Trev. He was the first to ever touch me. He would tie me down and tell me not to make a sound. He was also in charge of my wardrobe. You can imagine the get-up he has me in. Shorts that made my butt hang out the bottom, a sports bra that pushed my cleavage up too far, and of course I was never permitted shoes or socks. My hair was always braided back per his liking. It was humiliating. Then the worst of all. The man who killed everyone I loved and took me away to this hell hole. The Alpha of this pack was Jameson. He was the Devil. He had the worst attributes of all of them put together. He would come into my room drunk and would wake me up by trying to r**e me. When I would move or start to cry he would grab my throat and hold me against the wall until I was ready to pass out. There were times he would throw or drop dishes around me and make me pick it all up with no protective gear. My skin was severely scarred. I had bruises and lacerations from the beatings that wouldn't heal due to my now weakened state. I had nothing left in life. I made my way to serve the three hellhounds and never once lifted my eyes from the floor except only to plate their food. I could feel their breath on my neck as I would have to lean over to reach their plates. It made me sick. After plating Jameson’s food I stood back with my head down and my hands behind my back. I waited for him to dismiss me before I walked to the kitchen. I cleaned up the mess that remained and waited for them to finish eating. After about an hour and a half, I heard the chairs moving and people exiting the hall. I watched the clock for five minutes before walking back in. Luckily, everyone was gone. I started to pick up the dishes from the table to clean. Slowly cleaning off any trash that was left as I went along. I heard the door close and my heart dropped to my stomach. I didn't stop cleaning though. I felt a pair of coarse hands touch my skin. It made me nauseous. I heard him inhale deeply before speaking. “You know Nikki, I think it is about time you start to appreciate everything I have done for you.” Jameson’s voice was thick and filled with lust. I swallowed hard and tried to keep working. I dare not speak back to him. He grabbed my wrist hard and turned me to face him. His face had anger stitched through it. “Listen you little b***h! You are nothing! I brought you here, I spared your life!” He stopped and tried to rein in his wolf who was slowly making its way to the surface. “You have two choices here. Either you become my mistress and cater to my every desire. Or you can rot here like a slave. It's your choice” His words were laced with venom. I hated him. I would rather die than be with him. I stood tall and kept my head up. I tried to make my voice sound strong but I know it sounded broken. “I would rather die in a cell alone than be with you”, I finally spoke out to him. I felt the anger roll off in waves from him. Before I could stop him, his hands were in my hair and I was being dragged through the house and outside. SHIT! I tried to keep my screams and cries inside but I could feel my hair ripping out of my scalp and every step he took caused my legs and sides to be cut up from the ground. I desperately tried to claw his hand away from my head. He was just too strong. A large group of men were outside including his two lap-dogs. I watched in horror as he threw me into the dirt in the middle of all of them. One by one they all started to laugh at me. He stood over me and his eyes were dark. Black almost. “You would rather die huh?! FINE!” He roared. It wasn't his yelling that made me want to break down though. It was the calming demeanor and smile he had afterwards. I was going to regret this. He chuckled darkly before looking at his men. “Well boys! We haven't had a good hunt in a long time have we?” He smirked. The men all just laughed dryly and agreed. I swallowed hard. He turned his gaze back to me. He looked at me with such contempt that I actually thought he would kill me right then and there. He reached down and I tried to crawl away from him. His hand turned into a paw with long claws. He reached out and drew his finger down my cheek. I let out a piercing scream as my flesh tore and blood trickled down my face and neck. His smile grew larger at my pain. As quickly as his smile grew it fell from his face. “Shift,” he demanded. I laid there as silent tears fell down my face. I couldn't reach my wolf. “Shift!” he said again with more anger. I flinched and kept my eyes closed. My wolf coward deep in my mind. I couldn't shift. His leg pulled back before kicking me in the ribs, sending me flying across the grass. “SHIFT!” his alpha tone was thick. It overpowered everything. There was nothing anyone could do against an alpha command like this. My wolf submitted crying and pushed through the shift. This was the second time in my life that I have shifted. My bones cracked and I tried not to fight it. The pain was worse than before given that I was already so malnourished and weak. Soon my fur poked through my skin and I laid in the grass whimpering with my head down. The blood from the cut on my face soaked through my fur. I knew this was not the end of blood or pain. My end was coming. Was I ready for it?
